  1. Stir crazy here in Illinois!! Working alot as a Coroner, and YES we are getting COVID cases, along with the wonderful drug overdoses and two homicides recently....I hope everyone stays safe......al
  2. My oldest son Hunter, and his wife will complete medical school and become doctors in May. Their 4 year residency is at the large hospital called Truman in Kansas City, Missouri. They will move there late summer. I need to help them find the "good" part of town, and the ins and outs of the workings of the city if anyone lives there, or has lived there...any help would be appreciated. Working as a Deputy Coroner these last few years has taken a toll on my ideas toward our fellow man. Im not bitter by any means, just realize how precious and short some lives are. My cell is 85-twonineeight-7206 if your a solid American, be glad to hear from you. Text works best. AL
  3. I call them Mutts.............plain and simple Mutts...........al
  4. Never bowhunted a bear, but if I did.....it would be a cut on contact Wensel Woodsman.....having a great time hand sharpening them.....really puts large holes in Illinois deer....al
  5. I sure have missed this forum.....I quit facebook over a year ago, as I was getting friend requests from families of my deceased I picked up for drug overdoses. I have been a Deputy Coroner for over 3 1/2 years now in a really busy county in Illinois. Heroin, Fentanyl and Homicide and Suicide has taken its toll weekly on me and my co workers. I sure do miss this forum where I could check in and rib a few. Hope you all are doing well, and wish all my forum members the best. al
  6. Thats one tall racked buck, bet he was easy to see coming...........al
  7. My wife and I won an auction for a Hoyt Faktor 34 for our son, and Archers Choice is setting it up for him.....he special ordered it, camo riser, and American flag limbs....prob. won't be till November but he will get by till then......really exciting to see that spark in his eye......our winning bid at the benefit auction also scored a dozen arrows and hard case. I on the other hand will be shooting my old Darton Maverick till I cant shoot it anymore......its about 6 or 7 years old now.....still super quiet and deadly................al
  8. I know the old school broadheads used for Alaskan game, some old timers prefer the beveled heads for the rough cut to produce more tissue damage, but I am really a huge fan of my magnus heads that are razor sharp on their face, and really easy to sharpen.....IDK I may have to try them just to see performance on an Illinois doe.....al
  9. I was looking into the DRT broadheads, and learned about a single bevel, and sharpened on both edges (double bevel). The single bevel broadhead is sharpened on one side, opposite of the other blade for maximum tissue damage as when it strikes, it turns more violent in the wound channel. When the broadhead is sharpened on both sides, it punches through its target or victim. I use two blade broadheads, always sharpened on both sides, as they are super easy to maintain....but I may give the single bevel a try. al
