  1. Wishing everyone a healthy and Happy New Year.
  2. That looks like a really big doe Frank. Congratulations.
  3. That is a big old six. Congratulations Al.
  4. You are all welcome, it really isn't a problem. Anyone with suggestions on how to increase participation, post away. I enjoy reading everyone's stories, really wish it was more active here. Merry Christmas.
  5. Merry Christmas to everyone.
  6. That is great Lewis, always an excellent decision to accept Christ into our lives.
  7. Thank you Frank. I considered a shoulder mount, but I am just going to do a euro. With no more than I am seeing now, I am glad I took him. Hoping for a late season deer to show up, but no luck yet. I wasn't able to get any annual food plots in this year, so only draw is our clover, which is in sad shape, and the deer moving through.
  8. I don't mind at all. For no more participants than there are, it really doesn't take much time. Sure would be nice though to see things pick up around here. Really sad anymore when you take the time to share a story with pics and only get one or two replies.
  9. Congratulations to you both. Cool you were both able to kill one that close together.
  10. Thanks. He was a pretty nice buck, better than a few of my mounts from my early hunting years. Still waiting on my cwd test results.
  11. Everyone have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
  12. Shocked this buck is still very much alive, never would have thought he would still be around. Tough dude a year later still making it on 3 working legs.

Good story and pics Frank. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on the doe.
  14. Good luck and stay safe. Rifle opener tomorrow here too. We get to hunt with rifle during muzzleloader in our cwd units though so I got to kill my "muzzleloader deer" with a rifle.
  15. Looks like they are having a blast. Maybe some paddle tires on the back?

    Still kicking

I finished/graduated cardiac rehab 3 weeks ago. I had been tracking my workouts there in my watch. Came up with a similar plan at home, but don't have a treadmill or an upright bike. I do have a nice elliptical though, and free weights. My home workouts seem to be tougher but I am sticking with them 3 days a week, and trying to walk at least a mile on days I am not doing workouts. And also trying to hunt as much as I can. Walking their treadmill was easy, even with the higher inclines, walking these hills with boots and toting a rifle is a bit tougher. I will probably get some traps out for beaver and yotes towards January. Have done more deer hunting than I expected to, and took advantage of an opportunity on a solid 8 point this past Sunday morning. Felt pretty good under the circumstances, especially with the bang flop. Never got any shakes after the shot though, last two deer I killed have been that way. Kind of weird. Wednesday I was working cows, had the calves I was planning to take to the sale barn in the trailer and was pulling through a gate when a big cow started running towards the gate. I didn't need her getting in that pasture, have several sections of fence down that I haven't fixed yet. Anyway, I jumped out of the truck and ran around to the gate. I tripped over something and fell at wide open catching most of my weight (207lbs) on my hands. Jumped up, and she was almost to the gate, got it closed just in time. Then it crossed my mind that was a pretty good test on my sternum. No pain or any new issues there, but my back has been sore. I have an appointment with my family doc for sinus crud tomorrow, I will run the fall by him and see if he thinks an x ray out of caution is a good idea.

Good luck Frank. Will be looking forward to your pics and story.
  18. Congratulations Martin. Nice buck.
  19. Good story and very nice buck. Congratulations.
  20. Sunday morning about 30 minutes after light had this 8 show up at a scrapeline about 180 yards straight out in front of me. He came straight at me and got behind some tall junk I hadn't mowed. For what seemed like minutes all I could see was antlers moving above the grass. At about 150 yards, he turned to the left and started walking into a lane I had mowed. Angling to me, I squeezed the trigger on the custom rifle I built, and it was all over. Bang flop. My handloaded eldx went just forward in his left shoulder and exited just behind his right shoulder. Right at 17 inches inside, better than anything I saw or got pics of last year and had no pics of him yet this year. Figure he is a 3.5 year old. After the year I have had, didn't hesitate.
  21. Nice bucks Al. Sure you won't have any trouble finding someone who would want to kill that cull buck for you.
  22. Looks like a solid buck to me Don, a sure shooter in these parts. Congratulations to you and Joe both.
