  1. Yeah, the video on their site makes it look like these saws will cut good sized limbs pretty quick. My luck the next one I would get would probably make it just past the warranty period. Maybe the motor on this was a refurb, dunno but definitely not impressed. Honestly the saw felt flimsy too. Guess if there is any bright side to this at all is that at least it was not after the exchange/refund period was up.
  2. Thanks Corey, sent an email this morning.
  3. LOL. Closest I would probably get to that is the recording I got when I called. I am going to call them back tomorrow. Decided I am going to just return the entire order.
  4. Nothing civil about what is going on there. A lot of drug dealers and gangs killing each other and unfortunately some innocent bystanders getting hit in the crossfire. Shame they don't just kill each other and not hurt others, would save leo's a lot of time and effort.
  5. I did call Martin, I told the girl the nearest ups store was about 30 miles away. Oh, but they are going to credit back my card the $14.79 shipping I am getting hit with for return shipping after they determine the product is defective. I may call back and try to get a manager. NOT happy with midway at all. All the more reason I think I am just gonna send it all back and get a refund. I should have just waited until I could afford to get an echo, will cost more than twice as much but at least they have local service and also have a 5 year warranty. Only other powered pole saw I have used was an echo gas saw, and there is NO comparing. Sadly I was really hoping to put this thing to work this weekend ahead of our velvet hunt next weekend. Gonna be manual sawing I guess. : (
  6. Ordered a hooyman cordless tree saw from midway and it came in today. I also ordered an extension for it. Thought it would make a handy tool for limbs I normally have to use a pole pruner for. Unfortunately about half way through about a 1 inch oak limb the thing started smoking from the motor. The switch was acting goofy to begin with, was cutting on and off while holding the switch down. Less than a minute of use and it was done, nothing. Battery fully charged and nothing from the motor. The chain spun by hand(of course with the battery off the saw). So I called midway to see how they wanted to handle this problem, I can send it back for an exchange or I can get a refund, already printed the shipping label to send it back for exchange but having second thoughts. At a bit of a dilemma on this though, because I have to take it to a UPS store to send it back, closest UPS store is 30-40 minutes away depending on traffic. So I am out gas either way. Freaking shame midway won't issue a call tag to have UPS pick it up at my door. Kinda irritated with them and very disappointed in this brand new piece of junk. Anyone else have any experience with these things? Was not at all impressed with it what little I was able to get out of it, very weak. What would you do?
  7. Nice setup. So, how did the trip to the range go?
  8. This is you https://forums.realtree.com/profile/121433-spanky72/?wr=eyJhcHAiOiJmb3J1bXMiLCJtb2R1bGUiOiJmb3J1bXMtY29tbWVudCIsImlkXzEiOjEwNTUwOSwiaWRfMiI6MTMwMTYwM30= , right? Can reset your pwd if you pm me. Welcome back.
  9. My oldest daughter and I went to southeast Wyoming back in 2010. Hunted with Steve Beilgard for four days and then went on our own the last day. Dunno if it is still the same as it was then, but we saw a LOT of antelope and some nice ones too. There may still be some big ranches out that way where owners will let you pay a reasonable trespass fee and hunt their land. Maybe Jeff or Marty will chime in here, think they still make it that way from time to time.

  12. Before signing up please read and understand the rules posted in this room. First of all this is of course an unofficial contest run and moderated by forum members and not sanctioned by the good folks at Realtree/Jordan Outdoor Enterprises etc. There may or may not be prizes awarded at the end, in order to participate you must be a member in good standing with at least 10 posts at the time of the contest start, or member of active military duty with 5 posts. Sign-Up will end on Sept 10th, may be extended or may take alternates if need be. At that time I will randomly make up teams (youth hunters will be evenly distributed though) and will have them assembled before the 15th when I know many states have openers. Additional late teams can still be made up as they are formed, so if you catch this thread after the deadline, by all means sign up anyway. There are always no-shows and we need alternates. REMEMBER YOU ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE. NO ONE LIKES TO BE STUCK ON A TEAM WITH NO-SHOWS! Once the teams are announced we'll allow about two weeks to check in, so please check back before the end of the month or you will find you have been kicked off the team and to the back of the line. Please sign up below with Name, Screen Name, Age, States to be hunted, and Dates.
  13. I doubt you will be disappointed in the monarch, very good scopes imo. And with a 50 mm objective it should be really nice and bright. Hope she is a shooter. Still contemplating here on a future 30 caliber, -06 or 308.

    deer contest?

Better than half way there. Guess I may go ahead and post a sign up and if we can get enough members to sign up to make it worth while then will draw teams some time in September. Went ahead and posted a signup in the announcement room, hopefully we can get enough folks to signup to be able to draw some teams.
  15. Wife has said she has seen her post pics on facebook. So we know she is still alive.
  16. A real shame so much is burning out there. Hope it tames down and you get some relief soon.
  17. While most of those points do seem accurate, I don't think it means civil war. That being said, I think racial tension and lack of respect for law were at all time highs under the previous administration.
  18. Need to mow and weedeat tomorrow, if it cools down a lot might shoot the crossbow a few times.
  19. Even though I primarily gun hunt and focus a lot of my time in the stand on our muzzleloader season, I tend to fall into this much the same. Seems I see something new every year, watching a lot of animals and how they act, interact, oblivious to my presence is something I enjoy whether I kill one or not.

    deer contest?

Yeah or nay? If we can't get enough members to reply here, not gonna do a sign up or a contest. How about 20 members reply minimum here and will get a signup going.
  21. Thanks for the replies, answers. Next planned rifle was going to be a rem 700 cdl sf, but I may end up with one of these howa/weatherby's. Last time I got in the store the $469 rifles were not there, but they had some for $499 that were with glossy stock and glossy barrel. Was a ghost town in sporting goods, I was going to ask what calibers they had left, but could not find anyone back there.
  22. No doubt about that, posted a sequence a few years ago of bucks in middle of season and after season was over and the difference can be pretty dramatic. That ten from the side shot(second and third pics) sure looks heavy bodied compared to the rest of the deer, don't think it is a camera proximity perception either. Thick neck still, probably at least a 4.5 year old. First one would look similar to what I would expect of a 3.5 year old body here in late August September before they start rubbing. Looks like you are in for a great season in MS this year Al.
  23. Guess I should have held out a day for my rant. Finally this morning got my hands on a new TN 2018-19 hunting guide and I stand corrected on the above. I had previously read from the twra site about the change, guess it was proposed and someone jumped the gun to say it was approved when it wasn't. Was glad to see that they defined muzzleloaders as only including firearms that can be loaded from the muzzle end. They even put a note in asterisks saying there are no changes to muzzleloading weapons for this season.
  24. Airbow legal here this year for use during the archery season, IF you have a medical document showing you are unable to use regular archery equipment. I did not really agree with that nor did I agree with the approval of using airguns 35 cal and greater, but at least airgun is only legal during our firearms season. Did not agree with including large bore single shot rifle cartridges during muzzle loader season either, but that season has been "redefined" as "primitive weapons", so now the break action rifle cartridges in 35's and greater are lumped in with muzzleloaders. About the furthest electronics tech I use are apps or internet to tell me about the weather and of course using trail cams to identify "target" animals. I pass a LOT of deer in my attempts to kill deer I have seen that I know exists thanks to using my cameras. If not for the camera use I might kill something lesser and end up not hunting as much as I did with holding out for that one right one. I have tried using cams to help figure out where to hunt when to increase my odds at intercepting a particular deer, but unfortunately patterns here are practically non existent. Example: the buck I will likely attempt to go after this year was on our property on the 16th of last month in the middle of the night, ten he was on our property again on the 28th. Where he has been between that time ............. Could I hunt without those? Sure, I did for several years and did fine but I enjoy using the knowledge as to what is around to better my odds for killing the more mature and better caliber deer that may come through our small farm. Guess it is time to get more cameras out. I do think cameras have gone too far imo though, I think it crosses a line when people use cameras that send them pics RIGHT NOW and tell them where to be. When crossbow controversy hit here, I was not initially for them, but with shoulder problems myself, I picked one up and have hunted with it. No luck with it yet though. Far as the scopes and other mentions, honestly a lot comes down to money, some have the money to have all the fancy gadgets and toys, if those make them feel more confident then I guess they may help them. I guess ethically where things cross the line will vary greatly depending on who you ask. Everyone is different with different upbringing and different personal goals. Once again a good discussion Dave. Always enjoy reading others perspectives on these type topics.
  25. Some real nice bucks there Al. That first one has some serious tine length, almost doesn't even look real. What's planted in that plot? They sure seem to like it.
