1. Same here, PDR. Finally got the new scope mounted on the new gun and to the range last week. Got it dialed in at 100 yards real easy and then ran out of time. Now just got to get back and strecth it's legs a little. And start packing and unpacking and repacking.

Espnu

For those that would like to watch a couple of nationally ranked high school players on TV tonight, tune in to ESPNU at 8 Central. ESPN's number 10 & 75 (I think) nationally ranked High School player's teams will be playing. Ricky Seals Jones (10) from Sealy, TX (my town) and somebody from St. Pius X (75) in Houston. Hopefully it will be a good game. Watched numerous basketball games with Ricky last year and watching him play was like watching a man among boys. Same thing at last week's football game. If you tune in, look for me, I will be in black.
3. Thought it was a pretty good game. Lot of penalties on my 'Boys, but I think they were all deserved. The replacements might of missed a few calls, but 1), I don't think it impacted the game and 2) the real refs miss calls all the time also, so not a big change there. Was suprised that the first holding call was not made until the third or maybe fourth quarter, don't remeber exactly. Def. had some flashbacks as time was winding down in the fourth. Defense looked pretty good, for the first game. Still a long season to go.
4. I have killed them with a 22LR, don't really recommend it, but hey, you use what you got when they present themselves. Any deer rifle caliber will work just fine.
5. Thanks everyone. I appreciate it.
6. Here is a link to that thread. http://www.realtree.com/forums/lounge/107710-got-lucky.html Thanks everyone. Can't wait to get it.
7. Don't worry about it PDR, you can keep up with him, no problem.... if you are a mountain goat. You should start picking up rocks now to take with you.
8. Wow, you did good. I didn't have any luck in NM, but did get drawn for early rifle Muley in the 60 units in Nevada, along with about 2000 other lucky folks:surrender: They basically tripled the tags this year. It is the two weeks prior to the OTC elk hunt in Colorado. Haven't completely decided what to do with the Nevada hunt, as I can turn it back in and get my points back. I have to go on a business trip next week to Bend, Oregon which is just a couple of hours from the hunt area, so I am planning on staying the weekend and do a little scouting and try and decide after that. Good luck on your hunts and stop back by and show us the results. BTW nice Orxy, I want one of those bad, maybe next year.
9. Bought me a new rifle on Gunbroker yesterday. You might remember where I won a Swarovski scope a few months ago and have been looking for this particular rifle to put it on since then. Here is a partial description.... This is a Remington 700 LSS 300 Ultra Mag with a 26 inch barrel. It has a Timney trigger (set at 2.25 lbs), muzzle break, and has had the action pillar and glass bedded and barrel free floated..... and here is a picture.
10. Hey AJ, good to see you stopping in. You got any hunts lined up for this season? If not, and you are looking we are doing a group elk hunt in Southern Colorado, you are more than welcome to join. Jeff
11. Good luck, can't wait to here the story and see the pictures.
12. Little late in seeing this Chris, but know that you and your son and the rest of the family have prayers coming from here.
13. Looks like it is working just fine. Good luck.
14. That is where I stayed a few years ago. Nice enough place. Beds, hot water, heater, kitchen etc. Pretty nice place actually. The rates really aren't too bad either, if you have a few people to split with.
15. I am pretty sure my father is coming also. Won't be hunting, but will stay in camp and keep the fire going and the coffee hot. Also I would have to check to get the name, but I got a pm a week or two ago from another member (new) who said he was planning on coming. I believe he had spoke or pm'ed with Steve also. I have 4 cots and pretty sure we can sleep four in my tent fairly comfortably. Also, as PDR mentioned there are cabins that are pretty comfortable just down the road. I would suggest making some reservations early if you are thinking about that.
16. The emails were sent last night. I went 0 for 8 and Jake went 0 for 1. We did get a lot of bonus points though. These results were expected considering the hunts I put in for.
17. Rumor has it we have another person attending. Come on and introduce yourself.
18. And I have a problem. It is a good one though. Drew my third choice mule deer in northern Nevada. The hunt runs for two weeks with the season ending the on Oct 20th, the first day of our Colorado elk hunt. My problem is I have to get a two week vacation approved, have plenty of vacation banked, they just usually frown on taking two weeks straight. The good news is the return trip will go durn near (150 miles or so) through Platoro. I am planning on doing both right now. Oh, if you applied and want to check your results go to www.huntnevada.com Good luck.
19. Welcome home and thank you. See you in a few months. You and Charlie need to go find us some big ones.
20. For those of you that applied in Utah, check your credit cards, Utah is starting to hit them. Nothing for me yet, and don't really expect anything except possibly a late elk hunt for Jake. That is the only hunt I am applying for him this year as it falls during the Christmas Holidays and and he would be able to make it without missing any college.
21. If you go to this link Draw Results & Preference Points you can put in your information and check your preference points. If you have a zero and you applied you drew your first choice. If your PP's increased by one, either you didn't draw or you may have got your 2nd or third choice, just have to wait and see about that. I applied for points only and was successful in getting another one for Jake and I.
