  1. Yeah. The Pens head for round 2 in spite of themselves. Hopefully they will settle in and just be the Pens again. Don't know if it's nerves or what. Thinking the Sens shouldn't be as problematic for the Pens' style of play as the Islanders were.
  2. They aren't as bad here as they have been in past years.................. but it's early. Have seen a few but it will likely get much worse.
  3. No. It won't finish it. But I think we have some good leads and it will be a DIY on the cheap.
  4. The Pens seem to be right back to their same old selves............. complete domination during the regular season then poop their pants against a bottom-feeder team first round in the playoffs. Remember the Flyers series last year ?? Bylsma need to get the nose pulled up on this plane crash RIGHT NOW or he needs to GO.
  5. Daggone !!! Looks like I'll be headed to Florida about a month earlier next spring to try and bust an Osceola. Otherwise I think I'd be ALL over this one. I woulda brought peanut butter cookies too.

    Wake Up Obama!

Anyone who believes the politicians' motivation behind gun control legislation has ANYTHING to do with reducing gun violence or gun deaths needs to get his head out of the sand.
  7. Shouldn't your particular rifle determine the C.O.L. William ?? Either by the length of the magazine box or by the bullet's relationship to the lands ?? I'd start with a C.O.L. a few thousandths longer than a factory load you might have laying around and start comparing that against your rifle's ability to chamber the round. Then adjust shorter, if needed, from there. SAAMI max C.O.L. is 2.810 "
  8. Very good bird !!! CONGRATS to you !!
  9. "Frustration" is pretty much the name of the game for spring turkey hunters whether you are in your first year or your 35th year. My turkey season motto is this: "Turkeys are ignorant". That being said......... they aren't very bright either. But they are HIGHLY controlled by their habits and inner nature. The VERY BEST strategy for killing gobblers consistently is to be patient and persistent. A turkey that absolutely WOULD NOT work every day for a week might come running to the call like a dummy the next time you try him. Stick with it. Try to learn something about his habits and inner nature each time you fail to kill him and it won't be long before you're his worst nightmare.
  10. Click & Clack ................... the Tappet brothers !! LOL !! Probaly won't get them on any Canadian radio stations because their show is on NPR (National Public Radio which is a U.S. govt. funded deal). Probably a U.S. station that you can get, though, that would have them on. Usually weekends in the morning sometime. Show is called "Car Talk".
  11. Never owned a 3-on-the-tree but I've driven them. Could never quite figure out what the fellow who invented that shifter was smoking when he thought it up. LOL !! It certainly was NOT the choice of street racers anywhere !!
  12. GREAT bird !!!!!!! CONGRATS !!!!
  13. Located this bird Sunday morning. Hunted him Monday and yesterday from what should have been ideal setups and he flipped me the bird both mornings. No more Mr. Nice Guy. This morning it got personal. At 6:45 AM, at 26 yards, following his 94th gobble of the morning, I reminded the warty old turd why you just don't wanna go there with me. Bird stats: 21 1/4 lbs 1 1/4" & 1 1/4" spurs 10 3/4" beard 8" beard
  14. LET'S GO PENS !!!!!!!!! If we can keep everybody healthy, the Pens should be a force to be reckoned with. The four pickups we made before the trade deadline.............. Morrow, Murray, Jokinen and Iginla have ALL proven to be VERY STRONG picks. Should be very interesting. Of course I've also seen an "unstoppable" Pens roster get stoned in first round post-season by some real turd teams. But, in all honesty, if the Pens click like they should, I don't even see the Hawks as having a real fighting chance.
  15. This guy decided to go "game on" for his gals RIGHT in front of one of my Cuddebacks !!! Got a bunch of REALLY cool shots !! These are my favorites.
  16. Great pics !!! Had to be hard to not toss 'em in a sack with a rock and ................. well....................... GREAT PICS !!!!!!
  17. Only a month or so that the old ones have been on the ground and the new ones are jumping up !!!
  18. Could be a headspace issue. Could be a firing pin/mechanism problem. You could get a set of "go"-"no go" gauges for around $25-$30 to check the headspace. Or it could be a shortened firing pin or a weak pin spring or a gummed up firing pin assembly (oil and grime). A local smith ought to be able to tell you what the problem is right quick.
  19. Couple sirloins and some portabellas in the fridge that just may hit the grill later today.
  20. I wish I had something to tell you. But I'm in the same boat as you. Headed west end of the week for a Merriam's hunt and the area I am going to is bracing for 12"-18" Tuesday. Guess just get out there in it, put down some boot leather and listen closely.
  21. Good deal Tim !!! I'll be getting into Nebraska next Friday afternoon. I'll listen for your shots !!
  22. Binder twine, Al. Binder twine.
  23. I'm a redneck.......................and cheap. I have a forked hickory stick.
