anyone near there sat june 29 stop by cabelas, will be doing a coyote seminar at 12 and 2 would love to see you there!!

went great, the cabelas in Edmonton invited me to come on june 29 that will be a huge day, 2-3 seminars and all day meet and greet, plus we are getting another cabelas in regina, all around us, awesome.

just finished off my best season ever yesterday with shooting 10 coyotes, ended up with I believe 225 coyotes, 15 badgers, 20 fox, and 4 coons.I was given prob 25-30 coyotes but had prob 50 that were either damaged to bad[ started shooting a 22-250 this year] untill I figured out you could not shoot them on a angle lol, needed strait on or strait broadside. or soem had mange and some a new blight not sure soem sort of lice. with the 22-250 I made more 4-500 yard shots than I did in my whole life, just love the gun, got a 425 yard fox kill and a 350 tard fox kill on film for predator quest,should be airing in july.to top it all off the prices are awsome, last sale averaged 90 for coyote, just under 80 for fox and 70 for badger, the may sale is lower but still second year in a row I will not be in the hole thoasands of dollers lol!!

my first 125 or so coyotes by xmas I was able to dump in acoulee at the inlaws, I would haul out once a week, last time I was there and dropped off 30 or so the last ones were all cleaned up, here I dropped a truckload in a farmers dead pile he has sht over 10 coyotes off feeding on it. mother nature taked care of itself, the coulee at the farm has over 1000 dead coyotes in it over the past 10 years and all we ever find is the odd skull or leg bone, they keep it clean, and never a stink in spring, all cleaned up!

coyotes are the hardest to trap, fox and cats are dumb compared to coyotes!! when I started I could not get a coyote, thye would walk right around the set, I then started to die the traps in boiling water with sage in it[lotsof sage were I trapped] they I would wax them with trap wax and hang outside, never in a vehicle or with scent anyway, always wore rubber boots and rubber gloves, plus my coveralls were always stored outside, do not want to kneel down with smelly clothes, first thing I didw as find were coyotes were trails ect, fencelines, my best set was knolls in pastures with old holes on top, coyotes like to lookout from hills, and if there is a pre dug badger hole, I was set, I would put either pre bought lure, or more that often my own that I made out of all the guts from birds I shot that fall and let ripen for afew weeksin the sun, a spoon ful isall you need, putit on a stick down the hole,then dig a little indentation in snow or dirt, set trap and either stake it or tie to something near as a drag, I will set trap a little off to one side of hole and set branches or rocks so the coyote will step on trap not come in from side! once the trap is set I cover it with wax paper so it will not freeze down then either sprinkle snow or sifted dirt over top to cover it a bit, then I put a few feathers over the trap and around the area,seems to really help, then the end thing I did was get a branch and rub out any sign I had, footprints, kneeling marks, anything, then I always sprayed a bit of skunk essance to help to cover any scent I may of left. if setting on a trail make sure you use natural stuff like logs, or brush, or rocks to make a coyote step in the trap instead of going around, good luck hope this helped a bit, if need info on trap die and wax there are many trapping supply companies online, justgoogle it and they will put you on the right track!!

pruts, I still have a 223, its a norenko cheap gun but super accurate, has killed me well over 1000 coyotes the past 6-7 years, I love it, what I love about it is limited hide damage, what I hate is not a far killer, is good to 300 or so but once doubles come in it does not have the penetration at 250 yards to take down a running away coyote, you need to hit them then when spinning finish off,!the 250 si going to be awsome, went out and did some long range shooting 2 nights ago, 300 yards 5 inches low, 400 yards about 12-13, put a 2 liter pop bottle on a fence post in a pasture and just before dark when I got back to the ranchers yard ranged it at 426 yards, I aimed about 4 inches high and hit justbelow the middle of the bottle full of water, just like a explosion! canot wait to try 500 yard plus, with that 24 power scope looks like a 150 yards shot with my .223! good luck out coyote hunting!!

welcome, first off I would stay away from coyote vocalization unless you are certain you areblowing the right sound, a challangehowl will scare 95% of the coyotes to the next county, female invitaion will sound wierd to them now, I donot start with vocalization till at least nov 15, only vocolization I use now is pup distress, somany pups out there that they are scared of adults that arenot mommy or daddy and will not come in! get to a stand as questly as possable, even driving in make sure they donot hear you, if the area is hardly driven they are keen to a vehicle and will be harder to get in, once in location set up so you can see downwind, figure out were the puppies are and set up so you will get a shot before they wind you becouse the majority will try to circle down wind!! next start off with a disress sound not so loud incase there is a coyote bedded 300 yards away, just becouse you werre so quiet getting in htere easlly could be, I like to blow 15-30 seconds, and sit for 5-10, then blow harder, get the sound out there, blowfor 30 seconds or soand sit for 5-10 with verylittle movement, coyotes eyes are different than ours, they see in different shades and have more rods than cones in the eyes making them see better at night but also very good ability to see movement, alsomake sure you can getthe best camo available for the surroundings!! if you see a coyote stop blowing you want them to have a idea were the sound is coming frombut not exact, if he stops lip squeek, orblow the call gently, use a mouse squeeker, once he gets in a low spot get ready for shot!! If noting comesin within 25 min or so this time of year I would blow a pup distress and sit for 1-0 more, if nothing in 35-40 min try a new stand, windy days not as long, calm cold days a bitlonger, the sound travels better!! If you shoot one instantly do a pup distress and sit, I bet I get extra coyotes in 20-25% of the times Ido it! also make sure were you are postioned when calling, no skyline,backa gainst a tree, fence, brush ect, this will help allot Good luck!! BTW I just recieved my 22-250 last week, got a TC venture[bolt actioned clip] camoed up, topped it with the predator queust 6-24 power simmons scope, wow since simmonsand bushnell joined up, they have came out with great optics! been shooting the hornady superformance and its a tack driver, they say less than a inch and its actuallyless that 1/2 inch, shoots as good as I can!!

http://www.realtree.com/img/2/medium/IMG_00042.JPG here as a pic of my 32 inch mulie with a 5 inch drop, Iknow there was bigger scoring deer in the area,but I am a droptine lover and love width, this deer has it all! 3 hard days of hunting and seeing the big boy once and non typ that scores about 200 inch [young deer hope he makes the fall] a few times, had thisguy walk down the draw one day as Iwas glassing neighboring fields, I couldnot pass a 50 yard broadside shot, he made it about 10 yards and that was it! what was cool was he was very vocal, gruntinga and a sort of snort wheese I will never forget, never heard a mulie that vocal especiallybin velvet, got the watch him for a good 15 minutes before the shot, was great!!
