  1. LOL XT! Nope not this year, although I got her on the same day as I did one of them behind the barn. They haven't bedded down on our hill yet this year, wonder why...must be word spreads quick
  2. Congrats OGH! If I don't get a buck here soon I'll enter my archery 6 point.
  3. At least I'm in the top member list, lol
  4. Thanks guys! I had a nice dead tree to rest the barrel against so I felt confident in the shot, and with the scope dialed in.
  5. Huh, interesting. Nifty....anything to get more activity in here, lol
  6. About a month ago finally made the drive to PA to see the Elk. I was not disappointed. Now I really want to go Elk hunting. Here's just a few of the photos.
  7. Still hoping to fill my buck tag for gun season but here is a doe I shot with my muzzleloader. Taken on 11/27. Was about 100-115 yard shot, sitting on the ground. TC Omega Z5 with 100 grain Triple 7 pellets and Hornady SST 250 gr. She ran about 10 yards and toppled over, double lung pass through. Farthest shot I've ever made on a deer. I actually have a video I'll have to post sometime. This was my 2nd doe this season and 2nd deer ever with a muzzleloader.
  8. Go hold both if you can and decide which one you like the feel/hold of better.
  9. Congrats wtnhunt, that is a buck to be proud of! He is a beauty!
  10. Congrats to her on a beautiful buck! Awesome job!
  11. The Hornady SSTs are 250 grain. Friend uses the XTPs with good results.
  12. Right now into last week of gun season then 8 days of muzzleloader season. Still trying to fill my gun buck tag. Did get a 6 point during archery and doe with muzzleloader during gun season.
  13. A friend helped me set up a scope on my TC Omega Z5 for this year and encouraged me to take it out instead of the shotgun. I was shooting Shockwaves out of it then I got Hornady SSTs to try this year. I have found an awesome load for the TC Omega Z5 - 100 grain triple 7 (2 pellets) and Hornady SST. I will have to post photos but when I got it sighted in at 100 yards, 2 shots in a row touching, in the bullseye. Even better, 2 does taken this season with this gun and load. I love this gun more than my shotgun now The deer don't run far. First doe (shot at 30-40 yards) ran maybe 20-30 yards. 2nd doe of the season (shot at 100-115 yards) ran maybe 10 yards. So if anyone is looking for load suggestions, here is my recommendation.
  14. It was called something like the NY State Championship series. There were 3 shoots that were Elite and 3 shoots that were PSE so they did an Elite series and a PSE series. I don't know if they are doing it again this coming year or just doing the IBO qualifiers and state shoot.
  15. Is anyone interested in doing it this year? I know we didn't do it last year but I'm willing to oversee it if enough interest. Post here if you're interested. For those new here, it entails being paired up with another RT forum member and you exchange gifts (via mail usually). Has been very fun and enjoyable for all in the past. I know we've usually started around Thanksgiving with this but better late than never.
  16. Gun season opener tomorrow. Taking the TC Omega Z5 out instead of the 20 ga shotgun, just because of the accuracy on paper of the TC is impressive. Really after I got the 6 point with bow did not do much more bow hunting so I still have a a couple tags to fill. Found out today a record book type of deer is in the area, saw the trail cam pics myself....14-16 point, 20-24" spread by the looks of it and G3s around 12" with split G2s. Once in a lifetime deer for sure.
  17. Nice looking rig ya got there! Will be nice carrying around the turkey woods and fields!
  18. Tomorrow is the start of the NY gun season. This year I am taking the .50 cal TC Omega Z5 out. A friend helped me put a scope on it and sight it in. At 100 yards 2 shots touching in the center of the bullseye with Hornady SST 250 gr bullets. My 20 ga rifled barrel shotgun is ready to go as well but the accuracy of the TC Omega has me impressed and I'm up for trying something new. What are the rest of you NYers taking out tomorrow? Good luck to all hunters, NY or not, hunting this weekend!
  19. Thanks everyone! Well bow season is done, on to gun season!
  20. October 28th this 6 point met an arrow with a Slick Trick at 20 yards from my Mathews Halon. Watched the arrow zip right through him, he didn't even know what hit him. Took a few hops and stopped to look around, hopped up the hill and stopped to look around then ran and stumbled up the hill and crashed. He went maybe 50-60 yards. Been two years without a bow buck, was time to break the ice.
  21. Great buck Strut, nice job! Love his character.
  22. Congrats db, that's great! I ended up finishing 2nd in my class in the NYS IBO Elite Series and have a hefty belt buckle sitting on my desk.
  23. Hey everyone! Made it back! Super busy and then the forums got upgraded when I tried to get on. I got a 6 point with my bow I'll enter. Maybe I'll get something bigger with gun but hope everyone is having a good season so far
  24. Well I ordered a Summit Mini Viper. Midway USA had them on sale for $229 and even with shipping, that's less than anyone else. I got a couple other things so that added to my total of course
  25. I still have my gift certificate from the forums deer contest but it will not let me use it. Has anyone else had an issue? There's no use by or expiration date on it. I was trying to take advantage of their sale this week.
