  1. Awesome back, congrats mudrunner!
  2. So to update this I ended up with a CVA Accura V2 .50 cal with thumbhole stock. Sighting it in today or tomorrow. Did have trouble with the thumb spur on the hammer when trying to switch it for left hand, it ended up breaking. I sent it in to CVA and they fixed it along with the gouge in the stock finish, no questions asked! So double thumbs up for CVA Customer Service!
  3. Do you guys with a muzzeloader still take it out if it's raining? I'm wanting to take the .50 cal CVA out this coming weekend for the gun opener but Saturday is calling for rain so it's going to be wet. I'll have my 20 ga shotgun I could take out instead but of course the CVA Accura V2 I really want to take out for it's 1st season, just don't know if it's risky in the rain?
  4. Thanks guys! Can't wait for the gun opener this coming weekend although it looks similar to last year weather wise...windy and stormy.
  5. Well 4 is better than none, lol. Anyone else interested in signing up? Lots of fun! We can go with sign-up till Thanksgiving week then pair up people.
  6. Weather and work schedule has made it a challenging archery season but yesterday made up for it! Got into my stand about 9am after the rain let up. All was quiet then at 11am decided to make a few grunts on my grunt call. I sit down and no sooner than 5-10 minutes I look to my right and behind, where I thought a deer might come and sure enough there was a rack coming through the golden rod. It all happened so fast, no time to think, it was almost automatic. I turned and grabbed my bow and stood in my motion. He came right along a trail at 30 yards, I drew back, bleated at him, he stopped. I told myself take the time and settle the pin, I did and next thing I knew the arrow released, I saw it disappear and he kicked his back legs and took off...I knew it was a good shot. Shortly after he ran over a bank I heard him crash...let the shaking begin. The drag was just as fun and challenging...he was at the bottom of a steep bank, no going up, a nearby small creek was high and buddy. With help from family was able to pull him across the creek to a trail could bring the Gator down on. Planning on a Euro skull mount for him.
  7. Got a doe down last night! Will get her entered. Hopefully we get a buck at some point for some points
  8. Way to go ssky! No blood drawn yet here. I've got the week of the 13th off, so I'm hoping to get something down on the ground. I'll get out tomorrow after work for an evening hunt and hopefully some time before it rains Sunday.

    Okay

I agree, although slow here it is still the best forum in my experiences. Only other forum I visit is ArcheryTalk but I mainly just scroll, check the classifieds, look at others deer stories.
  17. Awesome buck, love the thickness! Congrats!!
  18. Hey Team! Been busy at work and getting ready for vacation. Haven't even gotten out into the treestand. Archery opened up October 1. This warm weather has slowed things down a little though. Anyone been doing some hunting?
  19. Still waiting on my 1st hard horned photo.
  20. Great buck and a great job on that mount, congrats!

  22. That is a bummer. The year the land I grew up hunting on got sold out to the big conglomerate farm in the area was a sad year. I now hunt a small area bordering it that we lease from a neighbor but lots of memories in the old woods. Farmer has also demolished a lot of habitat to make more field. I do have another neighbor you let me hunt last year and I made sure a few weeks ago to check in again about hunting which I got the go ahead. Definitely hard to lose land that has so many memories.
