Definately the last week in october this can be a productive time to catch a buck searching for a receptive doe. Ussually the does are not ready yet but the bucks sure are. I hunt in Pa and have not made it into November for about 5 years. and almost always am still hunting around october 20th so the last week of october is a great time to hunt. Focus on doe feeding areas just like in the rut. I have an area that ussually holds 10 to 20 does and a few small bucks on a regular basis early in the season. but around the 20th of October i start seeing bucks i didnt know where in the area and by the 25th or 26 ussually its pretty good. I have never taken that booner but consistantly shoot deer in the 110-120 range and for Pa ill take it. I will be hunting Ohio quite a bit more this year. hoping to end my season early in Pa and then focus my efforts in ohio.

although the rage are great heads and they advertise penetration better than fixed blades i cant see how thats possible from a physics standpoint. I think if you are dead set on a mechanical something like a Rocket steelhead would be a good head being 1.25 cutting diameter the penetration would be better than a head with a 2 inch that is huge no matter what type of head you are using. I personally shoot Rage but im also shooting a 74 lb bow. A better option for a low poundage bow is check out 2 blade cut on contact heads several companies have them i have a friend who let his daughter shoot a 38lb bow she shot Steelforce and had a pass through on the first and only deer she shot with that set up.

I have been hunting in Pa for years and occasionally in Wv. I have been reading and hearing that Ohio is a great state for hunting whitetails. I drove out today to the Woodbury Wildlife area three and a half hours from where i live in Pa and was not impressed there was evidence of deer but what i got from everyone i talked to is the hunting pressure is very high. I know this takes away from a quality hunting expierience. If any one would be willing to point me in the rite direction of other public lands or even a local farmer that you may know of that welcomes hunters. Any info is greatly appreciated. im looking for just somewhere i can go and enjoy the sport that we all love. Pa especially during Rifle season is loosing that. Also i enjoy hunting mature whitetails which i heard are more a reality in Ohio. Any help is appreciated thanks!

I live and hunt in Pa and archery season is ok but Rifle season has just become far from a quality hunting expierience. I have become interested and have done some research and seem to think this is not a bad option. If any one hunts these areas or could point me in the rite direction that would be great i will be coming out monday to start some pre season scouting and get some maps on the woodbury wildlife area. Thanks for any help or info of if this is really where i should be hunting.

Vs-1 I bought the 2 oz stick this year yes w shipping 55 dollars is expensive I could barely smell it myself and was wandering what the effectiveness of it could be. I did shoot an 11 pt about 16 inches wide while i had the scent out. the buck responded well to to my grunt tube came in on a line whether the scent helped idk but i dont think it hurt. on a side note i used the scent 3 times prior to this i had deer that appeared to be reacting to it but nothing that was amazing I may try the liquid form next season. i have had my best luck w kircheners silver top.

ohio hunting yes i ment the shotgun season i will be taking My T/C encore thanks for the info guys any other information is very helpful as im just in the exloring stages of trying to hunt ohio the land that i used to love to gun hunt so much in Pa has changed ownership and although im allowed to hunt it still. its simply not the same the liberal doe seasons and the number of hunters has made the hunting difficult at best. Archery season i am still blessed to have permission to hunt a very prime piece of land for Pa. but they limit the rifle hunting to family only on that farm.

ohio hunting If the local farmers dont work out i was going to look into possibly hunting either the tri valley hunting area or the woodbury wildlife area in coshocta county i am wanting to come out for the 2nd rifle season december 15 i think it is and possibly for the late muzzloader season. this year is mainly just to get my feet wet get some topo maps see what ohio has to offer. maybe do a little hunting.

hey neighbors. im from Pa and am seriously considering hunting ohio next year. I have done some minimal research and am focusing on south eastern portion of the state Muskigum count area I have been looking at topos of the Tri Valley hunting area and it looks intriguing if any one has anything that mite point me in the rite direction or any basic info that would be greatly apreciated i will prob be out in late january to do some basic scouting w snow on the ground then possibly a shed hunt if i like what i see. I may even ask around w some of the local farmers. i am interested in primarily archery hunting. any help would be apreciated thank!

scent here are a few options i have heard good things about code blue as mentioned above i tried the new VS1 estrous this year could barely smell it myself but did have a buck respond to it that i was able to harvest 11 pt scored 113 no monster but a respectable public land buck in pa 3.5 year old deer to just no tine length so i guess that means it worked i have also had success w bob kirsheners silver top.

I have not read all the post i tried the 3 blade version this year saturday morning shot a doe at a steep quartering towar went through the front should deer ran about 100 yards even w one hole and being a little high no trouble following the blood. only possible negative is the arrow broke off inside the deer when i took it out while gutting the deer the 3 blade was now a 2 blade one of the heads did break off. overall though i was very Very impressed w the blood trail and entrance hole

Re: Cop paralyzed by young punk I am by no means referring to this article or downplaying what police officers do as a service to us. but its not always the wonderful cops people get shot all the time by cops that are a little trigger happy and rarely is the cop wrong at least in our eyes. cops will harass people I know from expierience in Pa just for the simple fact they are wanting to find something wrong. 95% of cops spend all day enforcing 1 crime why bc its profitable and its easy to enforce as appose to going and catching real criminals. the crime is speeding.

Re: Corn Is Coming Out We have it worked out with the farmer he leaves the corn up until after rifle season. there are prob around 200 acres and all other corn in the area is cut. this seems to really hold some big deer. give them a safe area during the gun season. no drives or entrace into the corn is permitted.
