Wyoming or Colorado Coyote Hunters
wyote replied to CoyoteKiller16's topic in Varmint & Predator Hunting
License............don't need a license to hunt predators in WY Almost half of WY is government land, no need to know any one with land. Get a Wyoming Atlas/Gazzetter from any of the big mail order places. It will show you all the state, BLM, and NF land. If you need more detail get NF or BLM maps from thier offices in the area your hunting. If you want to hunt private just go door knocking and you'll have a good chance finding more places to hunt. -

Trying to decide on a single action revolver caliber..

I would go with the 45 colt in a Ruger SA. You can shoot cowboy loads for plinking and practice. Then you can step up to the custom type loads for some real stompers. Bullets weights can be had from 255 gr to some of the cast 325 gr or even 350 grainers. If recoil is a factor get the Ruger Bisley, the bisley grip really helps with the heavy loads -
Like alot of you the town I live in is so small that we don't have delivery. We have to go to the PO to pick up our mail. If you live in the country they only deliver 3 days a week. I know several areas in WY that they only deliver mail (in the country) 2 days a week! BTW We have a postmaster who goes stririctly by the book (he's military all the way). I've even had him send things back to sender stamped wrong address because the mail had a street address instead of a PO box. Even tho he knows who everone in town is.

Re: Delisting Wolves [ QUOTE ] This may be a little extreme but in my opinion leave em on the list. It might prevent more of them being illegally shot on ranches that they are 'suspected' to be killing cattle. [/ QUOTE ]tarbaby You don't have a clue!!!! The goverment trappers are trapping and killing wolves all the time. Why...........because there killing some much livestock!!!!!! I used to be able to ride up the river from my place any time of the year and see any where from 3 to 12 moose in an evening. Now............THERE GONE!!!! The area behind my used to have 1,000 cow elk permits every fall, now..............less than 300. And the G&F is saying they're going to get rid of the season all together. I could go on and on. The federal goverment says that WY has to maintain 7 pack of 10 wolves at all times. We have over 23 packs!!! Some of the packs have more than 20 wolves. The feds should delist the wolves so the state of WY can manage them and our game herds. You can bet we'll manage the wolves like any other game. I'm sure you know how to do that don't you?

Re: Jim Zumbo\'s anti comments!! My AR 15 was made for sporting purposes. Thus it's name..............."Bushmaster Varminter"
-
Re: Jim Zumbo\'s anti comments!! If "personalty" would call a black person the "N" word in an article or on TV or radio...............that's free speech!!! But I will guarentee there will be reprecutions. Sponsers would drop him/her in a NY minute!!! Him/her would be called a "racist" (which is the same as an anti) So why can't you throw in the "anti card" in Zumbo's case? He really feels this way or he wouldn't have written it in the first place.

Re: Totally Customized Encore 7mm08 handgun! Very nice!!!!!!! -
Re: 45? I've used a Ruger SS Blackhawk for years. I shoot a 300 gr cast bullet that I cast from a custom "mountain mould". The Ruger is a good strong gun, I generally shoot about 1500 to 2500 rounds of heavy loads a year in this pistol. I've taken quite a few game animals at 100 yards with no problem.

Re: Which sights for hunting? Another thing you might want to consider is haveing your front sight "thinned" to .100

Re: PISTOL HUNTING I've been full time pistol hunting since 1986. I've used XP 100's, T/C condtenders and encores, and savage strikers. Wheel guns made by Ruger, S&W, and Freedom Arms in 44 mag, 45 colt, and 454 casull. I've taken everything from gophers to a moose with handguns. I LOVE HANDGUN HUNTING!!!!!!

Re: Burris 2-7x32 or 3-12x32???? Where I hunt the 3X12 would be my choice.
-
Re: First Hunting Handgun If you don't hand load the 44 is probably better. I prefer the 45 colt.
-
Re: Post your entry pics here. This is a doe I got this evening...........the last day of doe season I took her with my SS Ruger Blackhawk in 45 colt witha 4x weaver scope at about 80 yards

Re: Post your entry pics here. handgunner The 329 can be a handfull for sure. I've shot this doe, several rabbits, and quite a few rocks with full power loads. With no problems, but sighting in off the bench................yeow!!!!! When it comes to packing, there's nothing better IMO. I don't even know I have it on. I have a CCW and I'm probably going to start carrying the 329 full time. I might drop down to 44 specials for that purpose, because if I every did have to use it I don't need bullets going thru walls and bounceing all around the area.
