  1. I love mine. Easy to shoot, easy to dial in, recoil isn't bad at all. If you want to mount a scope, you have options as well. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  2. I like my Howard Leight Impact Sports. They're reasonably priced around $50 or so and they have a NRR of 22db when the sounds exceeds 82db. They're slim enough that they don't get dislodged when shooting long guns. I do double up with foam ear plugs when shooting in a line with other guys shooting ARs. 3. Happy New Year one and all...
  4. I witnessed crows chasing an owl through the woods when deer hunting approximately 15 years ago. It was super loud...Between the crows squawking and the owl busting branches as it was flying through the woods, the woods were not quiet that morning...
  5. 308 is a great round. I just finished putting together a 308 AR but haven't gotten to the range yet with it. I like your stock. On my Savage bolt action 308, I have the standard Accu Stock from Savage. I would appreciaate the adjustable cheek weld...
  6. I put 2 3/4" Lightfield Hybred EXPs through my 12 GA H&R Ultraslugger. Groups real nice...
  7. If you're going to carry, you had better be proficient with your weapon of choice. Drawing from your choice of holster/carry location, clearing malfunctions, dropping and inserting mags, being able to hit what you are aiming at. Practice at the range is essential to ensure that proficiency. Most ranges will not allow you to draw and fire but you can practice that dry at home. I'd suggest using some dummy rounds to practice malfunctions if you have a range that will allow. Not a bad idea to set up a double feed in a semi-auto to see how that looks and how to clear one.
  8. No little wimpy 5.56 in this Field & Stream article... http://www.fieldandstream.com/articles/hunting/2014/07/finally-4-ar-style-rifles-chambered-for-big-game-hunting?cmpid=enews071614b&spPodID=020&spMailingID=6767597&spUserID=MTY3NjkwOTIyMjkS1&spJobID=481778498&spReportId=NDgxNzc4NDk4S0 I've got a 6.8 SPC for whitetail here in NY. It's a great compromise between 5.56 and .308. Recoil is light and follow up shots quick and easy.
  9. I'm going to concentrate on that same area, 165-168 grains...
  10. This is the first trip to the range with my new Savage rifle. I mounted a Mueller Tactical APV 4-14x42 scope on Burris XTR low rings. I am shooting Hornady 168 gr BTHP Match ammo out of her. You can see how I walked the groups in to the red dot in the center... The bigger squares are 1"x1". So, it looks like I have the shots in about a 1/4". I ran out of the Hornady ammo at that point or I would have tried a few more with that three shot group. I burned through about 30 rounds of ball ammo that grouped about 3" @100 yards prior to shooting the better stuff. When I start reloading for 308 at least I have somewhere to start.
  11. Looks totally awesome...But, overpriced.
  12. It was 1997, I was 25 years old and heading out in the woods for the first time with a bow and arrow. I was in a wooden tree stand that the property owner had built overlooking a ravine. a yearling doe walked up the ravine toward the stand and angled to my right. she was approximately 25 yards away standing broadside. As I released the arrow, she took a step forward and my four bladed Muzzy struck her in the femoral artery. She ambled approximately 15 yards and then piled up and that was it...
