  1. Aren't rhine16's #2 and the right buck in #4 the same deer?
  2. I'm leaning towards one of those or a seven 37.
  3. I have a 30" draw length and I want to buy a new, more forgiving hunting bow. I am looking at the XLR by Elite and I am wondering if anybody out there in Realtree land has had any experience with one. They aren't the fastest bow on the market but they have an 8.5 inch brace height and are 37" ata. My main concern is buying a bow that is not any faster than the Hoyt Xtec that I hunt with now. I will appreciate anyone's thoughts. Thanks.
  4. I wonder if the blades are titanium as well or just the ferrule. To me the blades of a mechanical head are the weak spot anyway.
  5. I don't know much about government so this might be a dumb question. Why are the hunting seasons in Mississippi set by the senate and the house? I'm pretty sure the seasons in Nebraska are set by the Game and Parks department.
  6. I don't feel so bad about the seasons in my state now.
  7. I used to work at a Cabela's store right after college. I blew up a hoyt while I was showing it to some customers. It was super loud. The string and one of the cables snapped. It all happened so fast I don't really know if I dry fired it or if the string broke as it reached peak weight. Talk about embarrassing!
  8. Climbing stadium bleachers is a great idea. There aren't any decent hills to climb around here.
  9. I am getting ready to start my spring training for my September elk hunt in Wyoming. I want to get started early this year so it isn't so hard on me when I'm working out in the heat of the summer. I decided to buy a used, inexpensive pack frame off of ebay to make my training more realistic. I want to get accustomed to supporting weight on my hips and shoulders. My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy for buying a pack specifically for training. She made me feel like I was wasting my money and "no one else on earth goes to those extremes" like I do for hunting. She just doesn't get it. My thought process is that putting 40 or so pounds in my good freighter frame and walking around the neighborhood all summer will wear it out prematurely. I'd much rather wear it out carrying heads and meat instead of bricks and water jugs. But I want to do everything I can to be prepared to hunt as hard as I can while I'm out there. I have a hard time believing that I'm the only one that does everything possible to prepare for a hunting trip.
  10. I'll believe it when I see it happen on a trail camera video.
  11. Just a thought, it might not be such a good idea to tangle a bucks antlers in something so they fall off prematurely. They fall off naturally when they are ready and if you pull them off before that you could possibly put them in danger. I'm no veterinarian but I wouldn't want to risk prematurely exposing delicate tissue on the heads of my local bucks just so I can have their sheds. I think the high fence around a bait pile is the safest idea. Probably the most work though.
  12. To all you guys who have hunted bull elk in Wyoming in September, what dates are traditionally the best? I have 10 days to hunt and I want to be out there when they are the most vocal and responsive to calls. What are the highest percentage days?
  13. My first elk. I got him with a Rage 2 blade in Wyoming.
  14. I owe Rage for my first elk. I put a poor shot on him and my Rage 2 blade cut him up bad enough to bring him down. I will use them on all large mammals from now on.
  15. This is my first elk. I got him in Wyoming on September 21st. I went out there with one other guy who also shot a good bull. It was the most exciting hunting experience of my life.
