  5. Today was opening day of 2nd season--which is usually the best duck hunting day of the season. Woke up this morning to 30mph winds with 40+ gusts. What do ya do---go hunting! There were not too many ducks flying but Belle and I managed to scrape out 5. Two greenies, two gaddies, and one teal. todd
  6. Randy--some awesome video and a great kansas buck! congrats todd
  7. Are there any small opening where you can plant something? If the hunting area is a majority oaks then there is probably more acorns than they can eat. Acorns are a favorite and it is hard to plant anything that is preferred over acorns. However you do get years where acorn crops are bad and that is when a food plot might help. You need to try to find an area where you get at least 4 hours of sunlight. If you do decide to plant something I would recommend sticking with a cereal grain and maybe some brassicas. Cereal grains and brassica are about the most attractive plantings during hunting season--both early and late. todd
  8. I agree--head on head should mean more--especially on a neutral field.

  12. you look good in that suit my friend!
  13. welcome to the forum. I agree with lil'--you should pattern your gun with the load and choke you will be shooting. I shoot the factory chokes out of my 935 and it shoots most loads just fine. I currently shoot Kent Faststeel.
  14. never planted antler king. I'm sure they are a very good product though. I don't think that deer will flock to antler king better than any other good quality food plot blend though. I'm a believer that food plots work---not only helping deer out with a high quality food but also increases deer sightings and improves herd health and holding capacity of the land.

    I'm Back...

congrats on an awesome hunt. My dad doesn't deer hunt but is always willing to help me with foodplots, making stands, and loves helping me after the kill. enjoy those memory pics.
  16. Lewis--I'm sorry. Way too young to die. todd
  17. i'm sorry your GPP didn't work out for you. I have had excellent results with that blend. Six inches worth of growth with wheat is pretty good--once soil temps get to a certain temp and daylight hours are shortened it goes into a winter dormancy----it will start growing again next spring and produce lots of seeds for your turkeys. I don't know about your brassicas---when i planted GPP several years ago the brassicas grew knee high. Rye is always a good choice. It is the hardiest of all cereal grains so if you wheat and oats came up to 6 inches you should be fine with rye. I wouldn't say it is more palatable than wheat but very close. good luck todd

    SEC champs?

wouldn't be awesome to see Auburn beat Alabama and Alabama beat Florida??? That would throw a twist in the mix.
