  3. Well what can I say... except that the deer Gods shined on Clint and I this evening. We have been busting our tails moving stands, looking at maps and trying to figure out where we needed to be. We have had ups and downs with shooter bucks and have seen them every day. Tonight it all finally came together and I am so grateful. Pretty tired now, going to get some food in my belly and call it a night. Will update tomorrow with more info.
  4. Would have brought the Term A Cell but had the understanding that there had already been a freeze here so didn't pack it. Tried to find one in town to buy but no one had any. Heading out now... wish us luck!!!

    Thanks >>

To Ben ( 92xj) for taking the bull by the horns and being my main poster for my live hunt here in Montana. Let's give him a thata boy!!
  6. Between the swirling winds, two black cats and our tree having lost half of its leaves in the past two days, we decided it was time to get down and locate a new set. Just in from hanging two sets, one for this evening where the deer have crossed the past two evenings and one for tomorrow morning where most of the deer have been crossing an irrigation bridge heading back to bed from the pea field. Believe it or not, we are only ten feet of of the ground from that stand due to the topography of the ground, but we brushed it in real good so we should be set. I have the record for most mosquito bites totaling over 70 and won the bee stung contest. Hopefully my next post will be about a dead deer in the Montana dirt.
  7. To say tonight wasn't frustrating would be an understatement. We were surprised to have even 1 buck bedded there, let alone 3 shooters. Our plan kind of worked, but the bucks didnt just stand up they just bolted I was at full draw the whole time thinking they would stop , but no chance.... Not 10 minutes later 4 doe popped out and acted like nothing was wrong. They feed to the west as a few did the previous night ... About 600pm one of the bucks we believe were on of the ones we spooked followed the same trail and headed to the west ... after seeing one shooter last night do the same, against better judgement we decided we are going to get more aggressive and move the stands closer to that trail that they used the past two nights. The weather is still warm, mosquitoes are still biting along with one bee that stung my hand tonight, and I am getting no sympathy from Clint because I even had to cook dinner. Tomorrow morning we are going to the same set that we have been on the past two mornings. The first morning a group of seven bucks were 150 to our right, this morning they were 150 yards to the left, so maybe tomorrow morning they will be in our lap. This has been a good hunt due to the fact that we are seeing shooter bucks every sit and getting closer to making it happen every day. Cross your fingers for us and I'll check back in the morning. By the way Jim T, I will take the shot on the last moment, camera or no camera.
  8. What can I say... we were covered up with deer all morning. At one point we had a group of 7 bucks come out 140 yards away and 2 more shortly after, total of 32 deer in the field at one time. All together we saw close to 50 deer this morning, but the shooters were out of range Once again, that's hunting. We are right in there, its just a matter of time before one of them makes a mistake. We couldnt help but laugh when the black cat showed up. Will go after them again this afternoon! Going to the same set we were in last night.
  9. you said it perfect Steve but wouldnt change it for nothing love the challenge!!!
  10. yep what happens is up to the bif guy up above.. Clint and I have set stands everyday and we think were in the best set up to work with. We have seen shooters every sit only 1 in range ( not enough cameralight for good video) so he got a pass . One of the joys of filming a hunt The camera saves a few deer every year. Used to let it get to me but now I just chalk it up to it was meant to be and try again. Also , used to get frustrated ,mad , you name it lol but doesent do any good So I just go on knowing I would have a bunch more dead deer without a camera . But I choose it and love it Its hunting. Good nite all shower and some shut eye up at 5 am for another round of this rodeo LOL
  11. were doing it weve cut all the corners stands wise its just a waiting game now
  12. noting else happened Ben we walked out and met the local game warden he had seen our truck parked. Real nice man visited for 20 minutes or so he checked my tags etc and we headed home for hotdogs and noodles lol headed to bed have a date with a buck tomm. cross your fingers..
  13. Just got back in from haning a new set. We put the stands close but not too close to where all of the bucks entered the field from last night's sit. A 130 class buck was bedded right where we hung the set today. Each set we are getting closer to letting an arrow fly. Will have updates later from the stand...
  14. Well, ran out daylight the deer never got close enough. matter of fact we got down a little early so we wouldnt get stuck in the tree if they came in at last light. Good night all in all, 15 bucks, 20 + doe 2 shooters for sure 140 ish Tommorow morning we'll try it again good nite all !!!!
  15. Headed to the stand now.. warm 70 degrees wind blowing at 15-20mph will send texts if possible depending on service
  16. We finally got to camp yesterday evening. Only problem was, United Airlines thought my bags were better in Denver than with me in Malta, MT. Caught the last hour of daylight last night, saw tons of deer including a couple shooters. Went grocery shopping, had dinner and in bed by 10... it had been a long day of traveling. This morning we got up and did some long range scouting and saw even more deer and a few more shooters. One problem,again... on the property are a lot of pockets of alfalfa fields separated by tree lines so it is going to be tough figuring out where we want to be to get in range. This morning Clint and I went and hung one of the camera stands and pushed out 2 bucks and 6 does, one of the bucks was a mid 140 class. Hopefully he will return to the grove of Russian olive trees that they were bedded in. It's 12:30pm now and we're going to have lunch and take a look at another stand location then be back in time to shower and head to the stand for the first sit. Cross your fingers for us!
