This is a 2006 Mathews Switchback XT. It is a right handed bow with a 29" draw length and 50-60lb limbs. The letoff is 80%. This bow maxes out at just over 62lbs. I bought this bow brand new and it is in great condition. I did hunt with it this past season but, due to the birth of my daughter, I didn't get out much. It also saw some 3-D action from July through September. There are marks on the idler wheel where my bow hoist carabiner was attatched (see pics) as well as a few very small marks on the limbcups. The bow has a Vapor Trail string/cable set in Flo. Green/Black coloring installed. The actual string has less than 200 shots on it as I had to replace the original VT string because I nicked it on one of my last hunts. The bow also comes with a custom grip made by Torqueless grips. It has a competition nose and medium wrist and is light gray in color. The original XT grip is included with the bow. It also has a string loop installed made of Spot Hogg's 50 pound test, 8 strand braid polyethylene. It's some of the strongest I've used and holds up extremely well. A pair of Ultra Limbsavers are installed as well. The string suppressor rubbers are in good condition. Also included is everything that came with the bow from the factory which includes: Aluminum dampers Allen wrench for the limb bolts "Making the Shot" dvd Owner's Manual (2005, that's what they gave me) misc literature on some of Mathews' other offerings Mathews Solocam "Bowhunting Whitetails" magazine New "Mathews" camo hat in Realtree Hardwoods HD I'm also adding another brand new Black Mathews hat $600 TYD w/insurance No Trades. PM me with any questions. Thanks, -Scott

Re: Pics from 3- at Ti-Yogi in NY Bowhunter Freestyle. Actually most of the targets were 30yds and under. But they were smaller targets with small kill zones which made it a bit more challenging.

Well our outdoor season got under way today at Ti-Yogi in NY. Temps were probably in the 20's with no wind. It was a real pleasant day to shoot. Felt great to get out. I met up with a couple guys from some different forums and had a great time. Shooters were Vonottoexperience, NerdHick and myself. Vonotto was top score with a 272. I was second with a diappointing 258. Nerdhick cam in third amongst us. I ended the day with 4 nickels and one dreadful goose egg on a 45yd down hill shot. Had the yardage judged right but just didn't hold right and shot underneath! Much fun was had. Here are some pics of the great morning. Nerdhick sizing up a downhill poke at a standing bear. Vonotto hooking up to take a shot at a miniature white bear. This thing was almost invisible!! It's just to the right of the target butt. A closeup of the bear. The outcome. Vonotto taking aim on a deer in the shadows. NerdHick and his glow in the dark harness set. Vonotto sizing up the 45yd downhill poke at a deer. He managed a Fatboy 10 on this one, lol. NerdHick hooking up for the same poke. Me getting ready to drop the goose egg!! NerdHick laying the smackdown on a deer. Me taking aim on a black bear. Me getting ready to nickel a wolverine on a rock. Stupid high kill zone!! NerdHick sizing up a shot through the trees at a Lynx. The outcome. I almost Robinhooded NerdHick's arrow. Scuffed the finish on it!

Re: Michael Irvan in Hall of fame [ QUOTE ] Art's Stats: 940 12721 13.5 68 16 years in the league--2 SB wins Mike's Stats: 750 11904 15.9 65 12 years in the league--2 SB wins Art has better stats but played 4 extra seasons in the NFL but I do agree--he deserves to be there. [/ QUOTE ] Monk was also the receptions leader when he left the game. There is, to me anyway, NO reason he has been shafted for 7yrs now.

Re: opion on mattews bow One is not better than the other. They are both top notch bows. You really need to shoot each one to see what one is better for you. You can't go wrong with either.

Re: Michael Irvan in Hall of fame My take: Michael Irvin was an extremely talented receiver. He was complete. Not exactly a model citizen but as was stated above, he seems to have been well respected by his peers. There are many members of the NFL HOF that have extrmely questionable personal lives. Lawerance Taylor comes to mind here. I'm on the fence about the morals clause as MLB has. Afterall, the HOF is about on the field performance. If it wasn't there would be many guys in that were HOF'ers in their communities but average on the field. People always bring up Pete Rose. But betting on baseball was deemed a Cardinal sin when he did it. Not saying doing cocaine is ok. As far as MLB HOF is concerend it has it's share of less than ideal members. Ty Cobb was hated by everyone he came in contact with. Mickey Mantle was a fall down drunk but they both performed on the field. That being said, I have lost ALL repsect for the voters of the NFL HOF when someone with Art Monk's numbers and credentials is repeatedly ignored for HOF enshrinement. He was all the receiver Michael Irvin was and more. But he is continually shrugged aside. WHY??

Re: Bucknasty Bow Strings... [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Had a set. I like my Vapor Trails much better. [/ QUOTE ] price wise Scottie, how much of a difference from Vapor Trails to Bucknasty's? He gets about $60.00 a set for a 2 color choice. [/ QUOTE ] I believe they are about $10/set more.

Re: Mathews Shooters 30 arrows in NOT normal wear and SHOULD be covered under warranty! Don't settle on this one! Either get a WARRANTIED new cable and use the Liquid Lok; have your shop re-serve your cable with a smaller dia serving or buy an aftermarket set like the Vapor Trails.

Re: meta peep-serving question? I do it myself. No need to get fancy with these. Just go round the groove, tie a knot and then go back around and tie to more knots to lock it in place. No need to serve above and below. This is the way I do my Meta and Fletcher peeps. Never moved and never had a problem.

Re: Got The Drenalin Set-Up Today [ QUOTE ] I noticed that when your at full draw there is a gap between the limb and riser. Whats the deal with that? And also how is it as far as being quiet and hows the vibration? Its an awesome looking bow. Congrats [/ QUOTE ] That gap is because he's shooting a 70lb bow turned down to 63lbs. That gap is in all bows when the poundage is turned down. Becuase of the lack of limb pockets on the Drenalin the gap is visible. Check out the link below. It is a slowmo pic of a Drenalin being fired with the limb backed out that was done by Mathews' R&D. You can see that there is no movement in the limb at the shot. http://forums.mathewsinc.com/viewtopic.php?t=47861

Re: Got The Drenalin Set-Up Today [ QUOTE ] really sweet lookin' bow--I'm sure it shoots just as sweet! BTW--next time you take that over the head shot suck in the belly a little congrats on the new bow!!! todd [/ QUOTE ] He can't take that big of a breath without passing out!!

Re: Got The Drenalin Set-Up Today It's nice quiet and smooth bow. It also tuned very easy. Setting the centershot at 3/4" and the nock 1/16" high resulted in a bullet hole in the first shot. John can slap arrows with the best of them.

Re: Picked Up My Drenalin Today!!!!! Good Luck with it. We'll get it setup by the weekend.

How good is the Switchback compared to a Legacy?
ScottyLuck replied to bigbearguy's topic in Bowhunting
Re: How good is the Switchback compared to a Legacy? The Legacy is a great bow. I had one and it's still one of my favorites. But, for me, it doesn't compare to the XT. It's a lot smoother through the draw cycle with the never Cobra cams. I've owned most of Mathews newer hunting bows and have shot the Drenalin. The XT is the bow I still have and will not be getting rid of it. Take the Legacy to a shop and shoot it side by side with the XT and form your own conclusion. -
Re: Zito signs with Giants?? [ QUOTE ] Well, he's a West Coast guy and played college ball in Cali, so it's really no surprise that he stayed home. Plus, for that money, who wouldn't have? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, but he's been saying all along that he wanted to come to the east coast. No one is worth that type of money. The Giants are nuts.

Re: Mathews shooters help Actually idler lean is that simple to fix on a Mathews. I've read the topics on AT. People make it seem like more of a problem to remedy than it is. As far as torquing, I owned the Switchback and sold it for that reason. I could never shoot the bow consitently. Something about it makes it a very fincky bow to tune for some and is critical of hand placement. For what it's worth I've owned every Mathews hunting bow as well since the Legacy. The SB was the only one I sold because if the way it shot. If you don't want to take my word for it go straight to the source and search the Mathews forum.

Re: Mathews shooters help [ QUOTE ] One thing I can tell you about the Switchbacks is that some of them have idler wheel lean and are a nightmare to get to shoot. I have one and have never been able to get it 100% corrected. This has been a common problem so if you are thinking of a Swicthback - shoot the daylights out of it at the pro shop before you put your final money down to make sure yours is ok. Quick test to start is to take a perfectly straight arrow placed across the wheel and the point should point directly to the nock - if it doesn't don't buy that bow! I was a diehard Mathews guy and the last Legacy and the current Switchback I have both have the same problem and have been huge disappointments. I cannot get fixed broadheads to fly as it is impossible to perfectly tune the bow and Mathews does not want to hear it. Consequently I do all my hunting with a Bowtech Allegiance. [/ QUOTE ] As Tedicast stated idler wheel lean is simple to cure and something associated with all single cam bows. The process you stated above with using the arrow has been proven to not work for everyone. The idler must be straight at FULL DRAW. The best to way to check the idler is to draw the bow and look up at the wheel and see how the string is tracking off of it. If it is tilted to one side simply add a twist to the Y-cable on the opposite side. Any quality bow shop should be able take care of this in minutes. There is no such thing as an "impossible to tune". I'd be more willing to bet you're torquing the bow. I've never had a Mathews that wouldn't tune within 10 shots.

Re: Binocular help Check out the Vortex line. I have a pair of 8x42 Sidewinders that are awesome. I compared these to a pair of Nikon Monarch ATB on the 3-D range this past season and there was no difference in clarity, sharpness and overall quality. The Vortex warranty is second to none and their customer service is top notch. They can be had for around $189. Check them out. They are a quality piece of glass! http://www.vortexoptics.com/

Re: Mathews question [ QUOTE ] yes the switchback xt was made in 06, the outback in 04, the switchback in 05, and 07 is the drenalin. All there models from those years are still being made. some of the older bows have been recalled. The swithback xt has a 31in axle to axle and was the first matthews bow with harmonic dampners in the cams. Its a awesome bow and it cant be looked down on. [/ QUOTE ] Not trying to bash you. Just to set a few things right. The Outback has been discontinued. Mathews does not have dampers in the cams. Those discs in the cams of the newer bows are perimeter weights. The XT was the first Mathews with dampers in the string suppressor arms. Also, none of the bows have been recalled. Perhaps you meant discontinued?

Re: Mathews question If you click on "Browse bows" it shows all the current models. The SB is the last bow on that page.

Re: Mathews question [ QUOTE ] The Switchback XT, and the Switchback LD are still in production. The original Switchback, and the Outback are no longer produced. [/ QUOTE ] The original Switchback is still in production.

Re: 2007 Mathews Drenalin The similiarities between the Switchback and the Drenalin are that they have the same ata and brace height. Other than that they are completely different bows. You really can't compare ot to the SB.
