  1. It was a win for the second amendment and a warning for those who dabble with their 'version' of what's reasonable gun control and restrictions. As we saw with Zumbo, the gun owners are passionate. Too bad that it's easier to cancel a show than unelect people who would take away your rights if given just a few more votes in the Senata/Congress.
  2. The Earned Income credit is a credit which is refundable (meaning it can reduce your tax to zero and then result in a refund). It's based on earned income sources. It's generally only for people with children but can be obtained in limited situations for those without children. It's phased out once you meet certain earned income thresholds, so it only applies to those who work and make little money, relatively speaking.
  3. Praise God! That news just made my day, I've thought about and prayed for your son and you so many times in the last few days. Know you guys aren't going through this alone, although it feels like it. New

    Dang...

I don't have the words....I'm so sorry. God bless you and your family, we will certainly be praying for you and your son. Romans 8:26 says it best: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Prayers for you and yours.....know that your struggle encourages others daily.
  5. Congrats my friend....you better double that college savings! Beautiful family you have there. New
  6. I agree with simple grilling. For saltwater fish (snapper or amberjack) I like to chop up some onions, bell peppers, peaches or mangos, cilantro, salt, garlic and lime juice to make a really good peach/mango salsa and put it on top. New
  7. If I were in one of those, I'd just have to throw myself away! There's no kind of soap that could clean the memory of that off!
  8. I've said it many times, never meet anyone to sell or buy anything on craigslist unless it is at a police station. I've suggested a police station parking lot and had people immediately break off communication. There have been several strong armed robberies in Atlanta from CL ads. Be safe, use your head, and make sure you meet someone in a safe place. New
  9. Get yourself a Summit stand...no bolts on it. I have a goliath and will never hunt out of anything else but a Summit. Glad you are okay. New
  10. Awesome.... Why are you forbidden to go to the memorial park? New
  11. Was sitting on the corner of the bed in FL on vacation. Will definitely never forget. Sunday after attending our Church services, I took my kids to get some really overpriced ice cream and then to the park. As I was sitting there watching kids of all ages play and their parents smile and laugh with each other I thought to myself "America isn't about buildings and they'll never destroy it". They may win a battle here or there but we will always win. New

    Thanks

Steve, I am very sorry to hear this. I have been on in a while....God speed and prayers sent.
  13. I finally got this tivo'd.....I gotta tell you that never in my life have I been prouder to be an American than watching these people (many who lost loved ones) build this magnificent memorial and building complex. I especially like that they moved a building wall so that each year on 9/11 when the first plane hit the North tower, sunlight will stream through and land right on the footprint of that North tower. Amazing. Respect to Adjam5 and his cohorts, what an amazing thing. New
  14. Very nice....much better than just buying one of the shelf. Something to remember and treasure and pass down to your children if you have any. Great looking piece. New
  15. I have a buddy who I fish with on a local big lake. He said that a surprise thunderstorm caught a lot of fisherman on the lake at night. So they all tied up under a bridge to stay dry and hopefully not get struck by the lightning. Anyhoo, he said he saw a snake in the water swimming away from the crowd and assumed it was a water moccasin. He then saw a boat headed towards them on a collision course with the snake. With the wind, rain and lightning they couldn't warn the guy in the boat. Long story short he was at idle speed when he ran over the snake. The snake took exception and decided to enter the boat with them to discuss the matter further. Well, it was the guy driving and two women. They said that the guy had one lady by the belt to keep her from jumping out of the boat and the other hand working the wheel and the throttle to keep from hitting the other boats upon whom he was descending fast. That left one woman unaccounted for. Now this was apparently a nice NICE fully loaded Skeeter bass boat and that unaccounted for woman found an underutilized wooden oar and started beating that snake to death (or trying). She apparently didn't have great aim and took out the fish finder, trolling motor and other misc parts of the boat which flew off into the water. She was screeching like a tennis player and he was yelling, begging her to stop hitting things. Finally the snake decided that she was flat crazy and departed the boat unaffected by her attempted murder. I laugh each time I hear that story. Poor guy! New
  16. Why were you walking through a metal box? Definitely a copperhead. Glad that he didn't tag you, you would have been in a world of hurt. Be careful walking around at night, they hunt at night. New
  17. Hey guys, very sorry I thought that I had updated this post. I interviewed on Wednesday and did not get the job that I applied for. No, they actually upgraded the job so that not only would I not have to take a pay cut, I will now be making 25% more than what I was. I will also be back in Finance where I belong, the IT diversion was a nice thing but not where I needed to be. So I will get to bank a large portion of the severance which the government doesn't confiscate and end up making more. We still have the issues with the kids but will figure something out. Thanks for the support fellas. New
  18. I'd rather a kid with me catches a fish than for me to catch one ANY day. I told the pastor's kid that outfishing me is a very serious thing and that my policy is that when a kid outfishes me, I throw them in the pond. He looked at me seriously for a second and said "You wouldn't do that to me, would you?" so I just laughed and said "No, I think I'll go against my rule this time". So then the little wiseguy said "Well how about you take me out and buy me a present for outfishing you". What a smart kid. So we settled for a commemorative plastic lizard from the tackle box. My hope is that someone will show my kid similar courtesies in his life as a result of my doing the same for others' children. New
  19. God bless you and your son....my son has Asperger's syndrome (mild'ish case) so I am right there with you. Definitely put a hook on it but cut the barb out in case you have to extract it from yourself or him. Make sure he has sunglasses on---too too many eye injuries, especially when snagging grass and yanking it. I have a soft spot for anyone suffering with kids with autism. Not only because I have one but because it is a silent disease. People can look at a kid with down's syndrome and tell....they just think that kids with autism are brats or have bad parents. Plus, it just seems like the cases of autism have SKYROCKETED. Hang in there my friend.

    Doggone kids!

I've said it a million times....never take a kid fishing if you want to catch fish. They'll catch them all! My pastor's child has light autism and my pastor is NOT a fisherman. Since I fish in their pond, their son asked me to come take him fishing and I couldn't say no. So I went over there and took him today. He's only like five and I didn't think he could operate an open faced reel without tangling it. So I got far away and let him give it a try. Not only did the kid figure it out, he caught a NICE two pounder bass. Oh, I caught nothing. Best nothing I've ever caught! New
  21. p.s. I once joked with my wife that I wanted to go to the Bahamas for a fishing trip I had always wanted to take. We had a six month old child at the time (our first). She now says she was deeply in a post-partum depression at the time and didn't know what she was agreeing to. In any event, she said "book it" so I was on the computer making reservations, as I told her, before the mother ship comes back for it's resident and brought my wife back! By the time the trip came around she was thinking clearer and was a little miffed at me! New
  22. Your wife is beautiful and handy enough to plow through a sales manager at Sears. Can I have her? I hope your tv works well for you and you enjoy it! New
  23. Yeah, it will work out. This company didn't make me, this company will not break me. It's given me a wonderful teaching moment for my kids about starting their own businesses right out of college and never working for someone who can take their livelihoods away. If my Tax and Accounting business was off the ground better, I would just go with it. It is a few years away from self-sustaining. The biggest issue is what to do with the kids. My wife went back to work full-time and neither of our parents are capable of taking care of them during the summer or getting them back and forth to school. Something will work out. New
  24. Thanks guys. We're finally back from vacation and I have been able to get back to routine. Glad to be home and away from sun, sunscreen and sand for a while. A week just about does it for me. I'd like to try a month at the beach so I could have time to read some books I want to read, nap, walk on the beach and fish. The problem with vacations is that I have trouble figuring out what to do and when. Being unemployed at the beach, makes you feel like Jimmy Buffett. Being unemployed at home in Atlanta makes you a local ! I'm really praying this opportunity works out. It would be with a company I already worked for, a boss I already worked for, with people I know (some anyway), and doing a job I have already done. In the scheme of things it is the least stressful way to do things. Please pray hard on Wednesday, thanks in advance! New
