that's a stellar first buck with a bow!!!! needless to say i am jealous...haha....CONGRATS!!!
-
yea it's all this warm weather we've been having here in NY. between college and work, my bow season is over and i barely saw any deer at all this year. i've gone bow seasons without getting a deer before, but this was by far the worst season i've ever had. I just hope the temperatures drop soon for the start of regular season coming up soon, cuz let me tell ya, it's a frustrating feeling to sit out in the woods every morning and night and not see a darn thing....maybe my luck will change when i'm home on break for thanksgiving...

well while i was stuck up at college in my apartment, my dad was back home whacking some deer....lucky him!!!! He shot this huge 9 pointer around 8:30 this morning. 19 inch inside spread, 194 lbs field dressed. We actually got this deer on the game camera earlier this fall, called him "Flat Top". Hopefully I can stick a big buck like this one this weekend when I go home. Hope the pictures show up. enjoy!

great buck! congratulations!!!

hey nothing wrong with that, especially for your first archery buck. my first buck with a bow wasn't much bigger, so congrats!
-
great looking buck! i'd love to see something that nice where i hunt in NY...haha congrats on an awesome kill!

i've got an old mathews outback and i love it, although seeing this bow makes me want to rob my bank account and say good-bye to the outback! wow the Z7 looks awesome!

finally had some action today, after seeing nothing for the first whole week of archery here in NY, my luck changed this morning. went out to a different stand, climbed up, hooked in and then pulled my bow up....not 5 minutes after i had done that i've got a beautiful looking red fox not 15 yards from my stand. i get stood up, start to draw and halfway through my draw it spots me and takes off....man fox are hard critters to get with a bow! 15 minutes or so later, i see two deer about 80 yards from me, couldn't tell if they were doe or bucks, wouldn't come in for me....then i have a tall spike come in about 10 minutes later...half hour after the spike left, here comes a big bodied but small racked 7 pointer...2 very small pts plus brow tine on one side and 3 really small pts plus brow tine on the other side. this guy hangs around for some 10-15 minutes never knowing i was there. If i only hunted for the meat and not for the trophy as well, i could've easily shot either buck many times over. sorry for the long post, but i was excited about finally having some action here in NY....a lot of people around here that i know haven't seen hardly anything, so i'm happy i could break that trend this morning. going back out tonight....hope it's as fun as earlier today!

only saw a single small doe during the entire weekend of the NY opener. weather wasn't bad, just don't know why the deer aren't moving right now. sucks that i gotta wait until saturday to get out again, on account of the fact that i had to go back to college this morning:bummed:....well maybe the deer will be moving more by this coming weekend (I HOPE!) any other NY hunters see much of anything this past weekend?
-
dad saw a little 4 point and two doe, couldn't get a shot. i saw absolutely nothing while sitting in the stand from 7 to 10 this morning. jumped a few deer in the brush walking out, couldn't see what they were though....beautiful day out, so let's hope tonight is more active for me:)
-

-
i envy you! college still has me locked in it's tight grip and i can only get out to hunt on the weekends. i have an 80 mile drive home in order to be able to hunt, but ya know what....when i'm up in my stand, with bow in hand, homework and classes are the last thing on my mind...haha....i can't wait for oct. 17th to get here!!! Good luck and hope to see a trophy new york state buck posted on here....i will do my best to do the same!
-
wow, i hope i have as much excitement as you did when my season opens here in NY on the 17th....i'm soo anxious to get in the stand i wish i could go to sleep tonight and not wake up until the morning of the 17th! haha Good luck in shooting that buck! get him then get us pictures!

after i shoot and if the deer doesn't go down within sight of my stand, i usually just find some reference marker on the ground where the deer was standing when i shot, whether it be a large rock, fallen tree, or stump. then i get down and start tracking from that marker. that tennis ball idea sounds like it might work pretty good. i know what ya mean by when ya get down to the ground things look soo much different than they did when in the stand. it's amazing how much 15-20 feet up in the air changes your perspective of the landscape.

in my opinion PSE is a good bow brand for beginners and youths...i used to have one years and years ago.....as for experienced hunters and myself, i would stay away from PSE, there's so much more out there that is a lot better if ya ask me....GO MATTHEWS!!!!!
