  1. Went out and saw a really good buck yesterday...I'm hooked for another season! Hope everyone is going to get a chance to go soon if they haven't already!
  2. I believe that is the case. I've heard that on here too from someone, so I'm sure somebody will say for sure, but I'm almost positive that's what is going on. Maybe that's why it seems like ScentBlocker stuff is more expensive than Scent Lok?!
  3. Went out last night for opening day. Saw 10, one of which was a bruiser 10. At least 140, hopefully more like 150, but I couldn't see him perfectly through the binocs. Never got close enough, otherwise you'd see me squatting behind him with a big nerdy grin on my face! Hopefully I'll catch up to him at some point! Anyone else seeing anything? Ryan
  4. Hahaha! That made me laugh Steve... Nonetheless, great deer Man!! I'll agree that I'm pretty certain he's wearing Realtree! Congrats, Bud! Ryan

    Rage ?

Heard they're not as dependable as the 2 blades. Give em a shot though! Good luck, Ryan
  6. Awesome! Great accomplishment with a bow! Ryan
  7. Nice! Confidence is key! That's what I'm working on now...maybe your kill will increase MY confidence! Congrats, Man :-) Ryan
  8. Thought I saw this somewhere else...found in the Scent Control Research sticky thread at the top. Interesting...hope crazylegz can keep it together long enough to get to ebay and get him some "Scent Burst!" Scent control Found a new product that help's to overcome ground disturbance. All the best scent's in the world can't work properly if you have to walk out to dispence it. What happens is called ground disturbance. Our big feet breaks twigs grasses and the like that create an invisible scent track that the monster bucks know very well. This is a paintball with scent that you fire with a paintball gun or shoot it with a wristrocket. No more ground disturbance that the big bucks pick up on. It's called Scent Burst and can be aqquired on E-Bay. Awesome product. Works for me.
  9. Ahhh...opening day. It just smells like it outside today. Thanks for the good luck! Right back at ya...look forward to hearing about everyone's harvests. Take care, and represent! Ryan
  10. Good to hear! I think I'm pretty dialed in...need to keep practicing through the season to keep myself honest! It's always a great feeling when you know the arrow will go exactly where you put it, and you're putting it where you want it! Take care, Ryan
  11. Hahaha :-D Awesome! Great bucks too! The pic of the one with the branch is sweet!
  12. I've never been taught how to properly hunt the wind. I've been hunting since I was 9 (22 now), and have always been very careful to take showers with scent eliminating soap and keep my clothes washed with Scent Killer detergent and store them in scent safe containers/bags with scent wafers. I've shot many good deer, but I think I could do better. I've not concentrated on hunting the wind enough. My natural thoughts would be to go to my stand against the wind, and hunt stands where I think most of the deer will come from upwind. When I place my stands, though, I try to find places where they'll come from different directions... Could someone please clear this up for me? Thanks! Ryan
  13. Oh yeah...definitely going to be a good year. Cold winter never hurts! Hope everyone has a great year...looking forward to some awesome pictures of everyone's deer! Take care, be safe! Good luck, Ryan
  14. It is huge...I get to look at that thing everytime I go to his house...monster no doubt! Main frame 8!
  15. Well, the next time I'll log on will be after the season has officially started. Good luck to everyone this year! Let's be safe, never take anything for granted, and represent IL well! It's GAMETIME!!! Take care, Ryan

    IL Lease

I'm actually finding out for a friend, but I think they said it's about half tillable and half timber. Thanks for the replies! Keep them coming!

    Face mask???

Yep...pretty much. If it's warm during gun season I won't sometimes, but I usually have one on! I figure the more things I can do to take away opportunities for the deer to see me, the better my chances are of having the upper hand when Mr. Big comes within range. Take care, Ryan
  18. I've actually thought of that concept before, but like MichiganHunter said, there are definitely some flaws. Everything we use started with an idea that wasn't perfect though! Take care, Ryan
  19. It sounds like you take necessary precautions, and you can only do so much. If you're smart about it, it can never hurt. I have a buddy that goes out after work and shoots deer every season when he's only on stand an hour and a half tops. Get out there and enjoy nature if nothing else. Take care, Ryan

    IL Lease

For those that know better than me (most!), what would you expect to pay for a full season lease (Oct. 1-Jan 15; bow and shotgun) for 180 acres in west central IL? Just curious...thanks! If this topic belongs in a different place, by all means move it! Thanks Take care, Ryan
  21. Congrats on the deer! Talk about a productive sick day! Take care, Ryan
  22. Happy for both of them! Great bucks fellas! Ryan
  23. Agreed...I used to tell people the net score of my deer, but then I realized that nobody ever gave me the net score of their deer, so now I give gross on everything!
  24. Gotta go with around 160 gross. Let's see him in your hands! Great buck with a lot of character! It'd be awesome if Leo was right about it being another antler! Take care, Ryan
  25. Whitetails...easy. I'd love to hunt either of the other two, but if I had to pick, it'd be whitetails! Good post! Ryan
