  1. Nick, maybe they enforce speed laws because that is their job. Despite what you think traffic collisions caused by people speeding kill a lot more people every year than the other crimes you named.
  2. If you are looking for something fast, sporty, with 4 wheel drive, and the most powerful engine out there get a renegade. That is if you can find one that hasn't sold already.
  3. Big smallie, nowhere near 12 pounds. He claims it was 22 inches long. I have had the pleasure of catching a fat 21"smallie and it weighed a hair over 7 pounds before I released it. I have seen two other smallies in the 21-22 inch range and the larger weighed under 8 pounds. It is a nice fish, but he is very mistaken on the weight.
  4. Sorry to hear of the loss. That looks like a great trip. That isn't Eagle Lake by chance, is it?
  5. I finally got the rifle I ordered and took it out to the range today. Tikka T3, Laminated stock, stainless steel, .300 WSM. Topped it with a Zeiss Conquest, 3-9 X 40. The gun has the best trigger I have ever shot, and I can't believe how smooth the bolt is. It is still pretty light though, and after 15 shots I am feeling it. I may need to look into some recoil reducing options before I do a lot of target shooting with it. Factory 180 grain winchester loads were all I had today, and after I sighted in I shot a 1.5 " 5 shot group at 100 yards...and if it wasn't me the gun clearly would have shot tighter. I can't wait to see what this gun can do with some time and different loads.
  6. Well I tried last time, but I was too dumb to figure out the picture post was down. This time I couldn't find the old thread. So here is my new Can-am Outlander 650. They claim 30% more power than the Grizzly 660 and I see why. I had to drag my buddy's grizzy through some mud yesterday. Still a new machine, but so far I am throughly impressed. The other day all the guys I was riding with got hung up at least once, but the extra ground clearance on these things makes a huge difference and i didn't get stuck once. Oh, and the roar of the V-Twin EFI makes the memory of the higher price disappear.
  7. The .338 is more gun than you need, and definately too much overkill for deer IMO. I have a 30-06, and 7mm mag. i sue for deer, bear and moose, and i just bought a .300 WSM. The 7mm is all the gun you ever need for moose or elk, and the .300 will do all the animals you named well. I just sighted mine in with 180 grain bullets today. Even that is getting to be a bit heavy for deer I think, but will still be reasonable if a good deer happens to wander out while i am moose hunting.
  8. Wow, you guys are lucky. I wish i could get my garden in this early. Unfortunately the ice isn't even off the lakes here yet.
  9. If anyone knows how to post pictures with the photo post down let me know.
  10. Well apparently i don't have permission to upload photos anymore. Anyone know that is going on there?

    new 4-wheeler

Well i finally picked it up. A brand new Can-am 650 Outlander. Today I went for a ride and found out they really are the most powerful machines out there. On the lake I got up to 60 mph with tons of throttle left. Then i went and found a spot where the sun had thawed out the mud and played for a bit. The torque is amazing and the suspension absorbs some nasty bumps. Should be a good machine for dragging moose in the fall.
  12. Here's a question. Reloading .40 cal. rounds to standarc powder charges and bullet weights, how many times can you reload the same casing before it should be retired?
  13. I think i win this one lol! Used up my remaining tuition credits from when i was in university, and apparently overpaid last year. Just got word from the accountant i have just over $5700 coming my way.
  14. not sure what i lost, i can't remember what i was at.
