    Draw length

Re: Draw length Better to err an inch too short versus an inch too long I'm 6' 5" so I'm off the chart! Arm span is 80" so that would put me at a 32" draw. I'm quite comfortable shooting 31" For the most part arm span is very close to height. I'd pick whatever dimension is shortest, divide by 2.5 and start there.

    Axis bow kill

Re: Axis bow kill It seems all the Exotic game from India (Blackbuck, Nilgai and Axis) are really tough to get with a bow. It's not the slam dunk hunt many may imagine. Congrats to that dude he is quite fortunate.
  3. Re: Arrow rest malfunction question?!?!? Make sure your nocks are turned right for best fletching clearance on the rest. The leading edge of your fletching will bend a springy rest every time if it catches it. Todays carbon arrows have nocks you can turn and they do move a little after numerous shots. Check that out.
  4. Re: Need a new stabilizer Investigate using an STS. You may not need a stabilizer if you install one. And you can probably remove the string silencers and pick up some speed. My experience has been the less stuff on your string the better they work.
  5. Re: The Season - 2nd edition by Tom Kelly Do not forget "Faces in the Crowd" "Tenth Legion" is a great book as well. Tom Kelly's books can be purchased from NWTF.org if anyones intrested.
  6. Re: how many beards That thing's got more beards than the wait staff at a Waffle house!!!
  7. Re: Getting my first house! First time home buyers have some significantly attractive financing options. Don't pass those up, it can save you a bunch of money.
  8. Re: Any mathmatics wizards?? Yep he did, oops, sorry. That's where the brain injury thing comes in. Better get 4 cubic yards.
  9. Re: Any mathmatics wizards?? Tedi I think your answer is still twice as high as it needs to be. Volume for cylinder 1 ft radius 15ft long V=(pi*(radius^2))*length So Volume = (3.14*((1 ft)^2)*(15 ft) = 47.12 ft^3 convert to cubic yards 47.12/27 = 1.75 yd^3 I'd round it up to 2 cubic yards to account for settling and measurement error. It's been over 20yrs since highschool for me too and I have a brain injury but I'm pretty sure that's right

    Brake Rotors

Re: Brake Rotors While you're already into the brakes. It's a good idea to check the condition of the pins and bushings. Also the piston boot on the caliper is a common failure point. Replace these too while your at it if they show any damage.
  11. Re: More prayers...PLEASE Prayers sent.
  12. Re: Peanut Butter for Deer ?? In my experience. Any unnatural scent, including food scents are avoided by deer in high hunting pressure areas. If it's not a high pressure area. Might work, might not.
  13. Re: new trick 4 glue and fletch removal!!!! [ QUOTE ] Thanks for the info guys, I will look into this. I work with chemists at my work and they said that acetone will not eat away at graphite or ruin the integrity. But I will call carbon express to talk about this matter further. I appreciate the info and the help on this matter. Thanks for looking out!!!! For a moment, I thought I was on to something!!!! LOL!!!! --rossman [/ QUOTE ] Your chemist buddies are right the acetone won't affect the Carbon Fibers at all. But acetone will degrade the strength of the resin holding the fibers together. Whether it's enough to make the arrows dangerous to shoot is hard to tell. Different arrows use different resins to bond the Carbon. If your buddies can strength test a treated section versus an untreated section that might be worth it. The biggest problem is you are likely refletching arrows that have been shot a little already. Some may have a little internal cracking you can't see. The acetone will seep into these cracks and really weaken the arrow. Be extra careful with them. I will just about guarantee the manufacturer will tell you to toss them just to be safe.

    Brake Rotors

Re: Brake Rotors [ QUOTE ] I can type pretty darn quick Leo... Here's what I came up with.... Bendix Brake Rotor Premium grade product Manufactured to exacting quality and dimensional specs "Made in USA" and "Made in Canada" to the highest industry materials standards All rotors are machined and balanced for immediate installation Rotors match original equipment style on full cast and composite designs 2 Year Replacement Warranty $52.96 each... Bendix Brake Pads: TitaniuMetallic II Bendix TitaniuMetallic II provides unsurpassed braking performance right out of the box. TitaniuMetallic is a coating that is applied to the pad's friction surface during the manufacturing process. This coating raises the brake pad's initial stopping power while the pad mates to the rotor surface. After about 50 stops the TitaniuMetallic coating wears away, having completed the pad-rotor surface mating process. What remains is a premium Bendix semi-metallic brake pad that will provide miles of outstanding performance across a wide range of operating conditions. Lifetime Replacement Warranty $37.77 set [/ QUOTE ] Yep Good stuff!

    Brake Rotors

Re: Brake Rotors I'm in the brake rebuild phase too. The Carquest Aftermarket rotors are pretty reasonable and darn good. You may not need new rotors. They might not even need to be machined. But machining them is usually $20 or less each. I was told by a very experienced mechanic that cross-drilled rotors are BAD NEWS if you drive in mud. If you have your heart set on cross drilled. Some machine shops will drill your existing rotors cheaper than you can buy new. But those holes collect and hold mud. The Bendix Titaniumetallic pads are the OEM pads and alot cheaper
  18. Re: Refurbishing Kitchen Cabinet Doors Easier to make new doors from scratch than strip and paint old ones IMO
  19. Re: BIGTIME Ticked at SEARS No doubt the MAC Tools and SNAP-ONS are the best. Expensive but the best. Truly these are the least likely tools to break. Personally, I'm a notorious tool buster. Over the years I've popped just about every hand tool imaginable And yes I've broken craftsman before. Lifetime guarantee doesn't mean unbreakable. And the harsh truth is the guarantee is only good for the lifetime of the warranty. If the company decides to change their policy before you break the tool, you're outa luck and there is nothing you can do about it. Honestly, the lifetime guarantee is little comfort when you bust a tool in the middle of a job and then wonder if you're gonna bust the replacement before you finish. Been there, done that My accessment of the Craftsman tools is the warranty is more impressive than the tools. IMO, Better midrange tools are made by Ampro (Advance Auto) and Husky (Home Depot)
  20. Norm had some more tests at the hospital today. So far everything looks good. His family is hopeful he'll be home tomorrow. Keep praying y'all it's working.

    Pump Information?

Re: Pump Information? Over 15ft is pretty decent head pressure to overcome. I'd find out what gpm the pump will push at that head pressure. I betting that 200gpm number is max and if it can't overcome much pressure, you may end up moving no water. Smaller pumps often can overcome more pressure. Don't get to fixated on flowrate and ignore the pressure rating on the pump. It's funny, usually on air compressors folks go the other way. Ignore the flow rate and concentrate on the pressure. Gotta keep both in mind
  23. Re: this is norms son jarrett I just got off the phone with your Mom, Jarrett and posted about Norm's condition before I even read your post. I was just so stunned by this news. Your Dad deserves over a 100 posts as far as I'm concerned. Prayers sent!!
  24. I just got off the phone with Norm's wife Sandy. Norm has had two mini strokes and is in the hospital right now. He asked his wife to call me so I could get the word out to everyone. Folks, Norm needs our prayers and he definately deserves them. Everybody who knows him knows this. This is a tough tough time for his family I'm sure. Get the word out and keep him in your prayers. It's all I know to do right now. I'll let you know when I know more. God Bless, you all.
