Re: Add a buck to our pile Good luck Dave. Hunt hard when you get the chance.

Re: Add a buck to our pile Well the SC season is over. One doe and one buck I can't complain one little bit. Only chance for an upgrade now is if I roadtrip to Alabama which is open till Jan 31st. Anyone on the team still hunting?

Re: BIG MISTAKE!!!! Seasoning a pan works much better if you smear it with shortening instead of oil

Re: Target for Gobbler Guillotine Don't forget!!! You need extra long arrows to shoot those heads. They are just too big to come past the rizer at all. Besides that I would seriously think about how mobile a gobblers head is before planning to launch an arrow at it.

Re: a good draw weight#?? 55#s is plenty to kill a deer. I would recommend you stick with fixed blade cut on contact heads at the lower poundages. (Montecs, NugeBlades or Muzzy with a sharp trocar are an excellent choice) This is especially if you are using light arrows to get speed. IMO, expandables with light arrows and low poundage is a bad combo.

Re: I need some prayer please Glad to hear you are gonna get some rest. Time to heal is indeed a prayer answered

Re: Bear hunt Haven't hunted with these folks. But I honestly believe Don McAskill is a heck of a nice guy. I met him in Memphis when I still needed to be pushed around alot in a wheelchair. He could have made a wheelchair hunt work for me and had pictures to prove it. I wouldn't need the wheelchair help now but this guy was willing to go the extra effort for me then. This really impressed me as there were literally hundreds of able bodied hunters walking past his booth. His place is in New Brunswick northeast of you. That area is thick with bears. The Bears Lair

Re: glad the mods around here aren\'t power hungery Mods risk name calling anytime they do anything to a member (whether it was right or wrong). Bottomline, an unmoderated board is NOT a nice place to be. I've seen a few and they have more trolls than a Grimms Fairy Tale. Can a Forum have a bad mod. Yep, I've seen it. I don't post on those. Read some of the threads on any board and the true nature of certain individuals rises to the top. Just a word of advice. If you used the same username and password on the other board as you do here. Change that password now!!!

Re: Here Is An Interesting Web Site!!! Hey LifeNRA, At least you were able to get your emotions under control and mature enough to admit it. I know you were just posting this for PA members. But I have heard the same rumbling going on in other States (KY for one). I feel the need to make a couple of key observations. 1. Having one group of hunters accusing another group of hunters of wiping out all the deer is never good for the hunting in that state period. This is exactly the kind of divide and conquear stance the anti's want. 2. A more accurate deer census is gonna be expensive. The hunters will foot the bill on this one if it goes that far. If in the end the numbers come close to the estimates and it's decided the more accurate methods aren't needed. The monies will be used for something else and funneled into another cause. This way the extra charges will continue.

Re: Apple iPod Question???? I might be wrong but I didn't think the Nano supported video. If you are looking forward to that feature, I would get them to demo it.

Re: Add a buck to our pile Well, I nailed a Fat South Carolina Doe yesterday (110lbs live weight) so no upgrade. So I guess my consolition prize is going in the freezer!

Re: Add a buck to our pile Got invited to hunt a lease that is a major honey hole tomorrow. The opportunity for me upgrading my entry is definately there. I know we probably can't catch up even if I nail a whopper but wish me luck anyhow. PS. I won't turn down a nice doe. I could use the meat.

Re: **Attacked by a Blacktail Buck** Steve, You're lucky. That deer coulda hurt you bad. Glad you're OK. Since the animal was already hurt I would consider it a blessing you ended his pain.

Re: Add a buck to our pile Be patient, sounds like the does are allowing the bucks to breed right now. Bucks will bed down with a doe at this time and deer movement is minimal. They are kinda like honeymooners is a hotel . If you can find them you have a good chance for a shot. But finding the "hotel" room ain't easy. Alot of times it will end up being where you usually never see deer.

Re: Add a buck to our pile Haven't been able to go back out but once since I got the 6pt. God willing I will upgrade before the end of the year. If I do get a chance at a good doe I'll take it. I could use one more in the freezer.

Re: Scarry story Bet he was surprised you didn't carry rubber suction cups to put on the end of these arrows!!

Re: xbox 360 There are thousands of these things for sale on Ebay right now. For those who GOTTA HAVE ONE, WAIT a little. As soon as Microsofts production picks up (and it will) the bottom is gonna fall out of EBAY price. The first ones sold on Ebay for around $4000. You could buy parts to build an absolutely fabulous gaming PC for half that. The end product would be more powerful and versatile than any console package. You and your kids would learn a heck of a lot in the process as well. Once your done, upgrading is a lot cheaper than scrambling for the seasons new console. Plus they can still play all their old games on it after upgrade.

Re: BIG BUCK! If you are seeing him regularly just after legal shooting hours he is not bedding far from there. That is where he is spending the day. If you can figure out where he is bedding sneak in well before first light in the morning. Sometimes it's easier to catch them going to bed instead of leaving it.

Re: Hunting Pine trees A day or two after a rain is the best time. Mushrooms will start sprouting. Some kinds of these deer eat like candy. Find the mushrooms they like and you have found a piney woods hotspot that will produce year after year. But it will be seasonal and very weather dependent.

Re: bow quality/performance/cost You will be hard pressed to get anyone to admit they paid too much for their equipment and it wasn't worth it. Especially on a public forum Try before you buy. The one that suits you best will be pretty obvious then.

Re: Sharpening Things Buy an extra chain. Most folks can swap out the chains faster than they can sharpen one. If you start with a sharp chain on the saw and swap it out when it gets dull, you can get quite a bit of cutting done. A properly sharpened chain lasts a lot longer than one that wasn't done right. Afterwards you can get them both sharpened at the hardware store or do it yourself when you have more time to do it right.

Re: Add a buck to our pile Go get em Dave Go ahead and post the does for points if you got em folks. The contest allows you to upgrade. If I can upgrade my six point I will. I am still hunting for something bigger. Pretty happy with that deer regardless, he was a bonafide mature animal.
