  1. The closer to the New Moon the better.
  2. Congrats! Nice blacktail.
  3. I flame treated the synthetic with a propane torch and then laid down 2 coats of appliance epoxy paint (tan) for the base. I used the spoon method to do the "webbing" with Modern Masters Metallic paint and then finally sealed it with Rustoleaum Ultra Cover clear matte.
  4. Here I adjusted the whitebalance. Now you can see it's tan and not white.
  5. Thanks guys I'm happy with how it turned out. I should try and adjust the white balance on my camera the base coat is actually more tan than it appears in the photo.
  6. If recoil and shell expense are concerns, a 30-06SPR might be a better choice for you in the long run.
  7. It was just a plain black synthetic stock. This is how it turned out,.
  8. If elk is a possibility I would definitely lean towards the 308Win.
  9. Depends on what animal and how big. If I'm shooting rabbits then any angle works. But if it's a big heavy boned elk size critter then you should stick with broadside shots only. Even quartering away shots aren't risk free with big heavy boned critters.

    Caption this pic.

Guy holding the meter says, "The temperature at this spot is 5 degrees Kelvin cooler than the rest of the room. I'm also detecting a very strong EMF signature from ectoplasmic residue. We could very possibly be witnessing a paranormal gateway opening that would allow demons through... Or it could just be gum." Guy in the middle says, "GUM!" Guy on the left says, "Do you still have those Sonic coupons?"
  11. Way to go on the freezer trophy! Mine is bare right now. You did good!

    Happy Birthday Shaun

    Have a great Birthday!
  13. That's a fine bull! Great shot too, knocked the top off his pump. It will be worth two days of work getting the meat out. Elk are worth it
  14. The Vanguards are a great rifle value. If you don't like the plastic stocked version than buy a Bell and Carlson medalist stock for it later
  15. Could be a lot of things. Here is a couple suggestions. The first thing I suggest you do is get the battery tested at an autoparts store. They can tell at the autoparts store if the battery is under spec producing cold cranking amps. A dying battery can cause those issues and is one of the easiest things to fix. If the battery is over 4 years old it's a likely culprit. The next thing I'd do is get a new fuel filter installed. If you've never had it replaced in that vehicle it's probably overdue.

    Z7 Extreme?

The ATA on that bow is 28" In general bows that are shorter ATA than your draw are more difficult to shoot accurately. If you're 6' 1" you probably have a longer draw than 28"
  17. Congrats that's an impressive beast.:toot:
  18. Good luck. There are some big deer in Maryland.

    Got him!

    Not surprised by this development.
  20. Very nicely done! Congrats Mike!
  21. Unless the shot angle was very steep (ie. treestand shot at a deer almost under the stand). For whitetail deer, fat on the arrow is almost always an indication of a hit that was way too high. There are exceptions but that is usually the way it plays out.
