  1. welcome to the family Joe, joined last year myself.
  2. I live less than 15 minutes from the scene, and know people close to the news. According to reports, the man killed his grandmother with a hammer and took a plea deal for manslaughter. After serving his 17 years he was paroled and lived at home with his mother and sister. Recently his mother passed away. Reports say the siblings did not get along. The sister is now "missing" as of the day of the fire/shooting.
  3. Just want to wish everyone on the team a Merry Christmas!
  4. Count me in Kat! Team 7 is not called "the slackers" for nothing!
  5. Congrats on the doe Shawn! Still trying to bag one more doe for the freezer myself... Hey team, I just checked the score card - Dosse's 9-pointer has not been posted. All things being equal, once it is posted that would put our team in a tie for the lead - hopefully with more entires to come... BTW my interview yesterday went as well as an interview could go. I was well prepared, answered all of their questions with evidence-supported responses, and felt the culture was a good match. I sent my thank-you letter last night. Now it is just a waiting game while they interview 1 more candidate. Thinking of going hunting tomorrow to relieve some of the stress.
  6. Well team, I have a job interview set for Tuesday. When they contacted me they said there was a full-time position open as well and would I be interested - of course! Tomorrow I'm going to hunt a hedge row that runs out into a cut corn field. There is a brea in the hedge row, and the next hedge row divides the corn field and a cut soy bean field. I know from scouting that there is abundent mast - I think beechnut and red oak, in the second row. My plan is to sit the first couple of hours, scout hunt, then put up a tree stand for evening late season hunts. Still trying to fill doe tags!
  7. Congratulations Ruth and Mandy! Those are some great deer. Did some job hunting today instead, and learned I will be contacted for a per diem x-ray tech job at a local hospital. Ruth, if you hear of any openings let me know - "have gun will travel." :crutch:
  8. Same intermittent problem here. Laptop w/ Windows 7 & latest updates installed. Any PC users having the prob?
  9. Oh, I keep forgetting to mention, I'm pretty darn sure my buck is one of the ones I missed during archery - the day I grunted him in to 15 yds, then missed.
  10. Looks like the team's fortunes are turning around some. Contest aside, things look a bit brighter heading into the holidays. As I have enough meat for the year, I'm a bit more selective about going afield. Looking like Monday (all day) and Wednesday afternoon hunts are in order for next week. All my misses were 10 - 15 yds. We have a late 1-week archery/ML season coming up in a couple of weeks, so for now, just trying to fill 5 doe tags.
  11. Well team, I just completed my WORST bow season ever! Missed 7 deer total, 2 nice bucks. I was out for the gun opener last Saturday, and as luck would have it, 2 bucks squared off at first light about 30 yds from my stand. Eventually, I got a shot at one and connected! Big body, small rack, but 10 more points for the team!
  12. My bad luck has continued. Had a nice buck jump my string 2 nights ago - new setup and had nowhere to place my quiver - the extra noise cost me. Taken care of that problem with a short rope around the tree. Now we have this hurricane to deal with. No good weather for a whole week, and just when the pre-rut is due to kick in. At least I'll have time to post my doe pics.
  13. Can't seem to hit the broadside of a deer this year! Last night, 4th time this year I failed to close the deal. Very exciting though as I grunted back a nice buck and worked him in to 15 yds. Unfortunately he caught my movement drawing & wouldn't give me a good shot. Oh, btw truck broke down so now I have no ride to go hunting with.
  14. Hey guys & gals, this is my LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL for my BS Healthcare Admin program! Been real busy with the team final project. It's done now except for some minor formatting on someone else's slide. Anyway, been too busy to download my pics to post here, and I need my beauty sleep - tomorrow should be an excellent day for my corner wood lot stand. BTW, had a perfect opportunity this past Monday on another doe and messed up! The corner stand is HOT HOT HOT right now!
