  1. dayum.. too bad about the wasted axis Tink. The law is backwards, it should be a crime to allow such good venison to go to waste on the side of the road! I'm looking for an axis hunt for me and my wife, you familiar with any exotic guides in Kerr county?
  2. Hunted last saturday with my dad and brother. We dropped 32 geese, which included snows, blues, ross, specks, and 2 canadian lessors! High winds and low clouds had the geese decoying nicely, as they were coming in low across the deck.
  3. Thanks for all the info. Picked up the Rem Copper Solids and will see how they do. They are a bit pricey though. $16 for a pack of 5. Hopefully I can get everything sighted in easily.
  4. Hey guys, I just got a rifled barrel and 4x scope put on my 870 wing master. Can anyone recommend an ammunition to shoot? I've always hunted with rifles in the past, and this is my first experience with a slug gun. (I'm hunting Illinois this year during 1st shotgun season) Thanks.
  5. First of all, I didnt read all of the replies, but I did enjoy reading some of the "holier than thou" fair chase comments. I always found it interesting, that back in the frontier days, indians would still chase buffalo over the edge of a cliff, rather than shoot them with their bow. In fact, they were still chasing buffalos over a cliff even after they had access to accurate repeater rifles. I wonder if other indians criticized them saying that hunting via the "buffalo jump" isnt fair chase? Bottom line is, unless you remove the grey matter between your ears, man will always come up with ways to get the edge on prey. Unless you purposely "dumb down" your hunt, there really isnt anything "fair enough" about modern means or techniques of hunting.
  6. Buddy of mine took a nice axis last weekend. (went gold medal)
  7. I've see folks hunt small islands, walk the open end of a box canyon, or use $12,000 dollars worth of trail cams, swaro spotting lenses, 4-16x 50mm objective scopes, 300 weatherby magnums, wisker bisquits, solo cams, scent lock, grunt calls, deer pee, food plots, etc. In my opinion, nobody hunts in a "fair chase" scenario, it's more like "fair enough" chase.
  8. I just wanted to post up a thank you to Realtree for the photo contest, and to Andy for sending me the turkey call. It's a beautiful call, and I cant wait to use it in the woods this spring. Thanks again. Shutter one can also visit his nice website at www.ajcustomcalls.net . He does some nice work.
  9. nice sized flatties. Did you gig them or catch them with rod/reel?
  10. Last year I attended one of the Texas Redfish Series tournaments. I tagged along with Trey Ganem and Brian Steward. It was a lot of fun. First stop of the morning. Angler Trey Gannem preparing for the first wade Anglers Trey Ganem and Brian Steward are "burning" a shoreline (looking for fish). Brian Steward wade fishing a grass flat Tailing redfish along the shore
  11. I saw (a week or 2 ago) where the loop current separated and came in close for the FL panhandle anglers. Heard reports where folks were catching a lot of fish at The Nipple.
  12. Snapper season has already kicked off here on the Gulf Coast. I havent been able to go yet but have the itch pretty bad. Any Gulf Coast fishermen been offshore lately?
  13. I thought you guys might be interested in hearing about the new trail cams coming on the market in 2007. One can find press reports in the 2007 SHOT Show forum below: http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/index.php?showforum=274
