  1. Wow that does look like it would be smooth.
  2. So they're going old-school round wheel? It will be interesting to see what kind of speed they are getting.
  3. Congrats on a great buck! Great story and write-up!
  4. Congrats Alisha and RangerClay. I hunted the first Saturday of our archery season (10/4). A cold front had moved in and deer were active. I saw 8 deer that morning, 6 of which were bucks. The first deer I saw was a bachelor group of 4, 2 of which were 3.5 yr olds and one was 4.5 or older. They never got closer than 60 yards and didn't respond to calling. I snuck out and snuck back in to the same stand that evening, hoping they would come back by on their way to my plot. For once, a plan worked. As I was watching the 3.5 yr old 8 pointer feed 60 yards below me, I heard 2 bucks sparring at the edge of my plot 80 yards away. The leaves were too thick to see anything where they were. After a bit they quit and started feeding farther into the plot. I saw it was the 3.5 yr old 10 pointer and the older buck. I grunted and they came right to me, rubbing trees along the way. I shot the older buck at 15 yards.........and caught part of the shoulder blade, getting very little penetration. I wanted to throw up watching him run off with most of my arrow hanging out of him. I tracked him several hundred yards that night and looked a few hours the next morning with no luck. He had crossed onto the neighboring property, and a couple of days later I was able to find out who the landowner is and obtain permission to look. The following Saturday my wife and I found what was left of him. I was ready to throw up again because I hoped and really expected that he would heal up, considering where I hit and how far he had gone. I won't post the field pic because the coyotes and vultures had done a number on him. Here is the finished product, boiled, bleached and hanging in the living room.
  5. I was thinking the same thing. What did I miss?
  6. Here you go. Beware the Judy chop.
  7. I have one. I won it in one of their monthly drawings. I've killed a turkey while using it but no deer yet as I normally hunt from tree stands. They do work very well.
  8. Loved the movie, and Helen Hunt in the movie.
  9. I haven't been here in months, and am saddened to read this. You and your family are in my prayers Steve. I'm sorry for your loss.
  10. It depends on the growth. When it hits 12 inches I like to mow it back to 6 inches. This keeps it from flowering so it will put its growth into fresh tender new shoots for the deer to eat. Regular mowing also helps control weeds by keeping them from going to seed.
