  1. I've never really played with triggers, my newer 700 CDL has the factory adjustable trigger. I forget what they said it was set at, I want to say 4 or 5 pounds. I cranked it down a few turns to lighten it up but never put a scale on it.
  2. Wow! I don't know if I could stay calm if something like that came out to me lol. Biggest I've seen around here was the one in my avatar, saw him out in the field during the summer with 2 other bucks, then on my trail cam. Last I saw him was Halloween night in 2015, 2 days before rifle season that year.

    Winter fun

Beautiful pic Frank!! I did downhill skiing when I was in elementary school before high school. Haven't been on skis in probably 17 years, since I graduated grade 8 in 2000. I don't do many miles on my snowmobile Tim, just use it around the farm here. Haul wood out of the bush, and now my 16 month old daughter loves going for rides. She calls it the doodoo lol. Hopefully one of these years I will find some time to trail ride! It's an expensive sport. Trail pass is nearly $300, insurance would be about the same, then the gas. 91 octane non-ethanol right now up here is $1.22/liter which is $3.50/gal USD. And that 700cc 2 stroke is far from fuel efficient, it drinks gas like a big block chevy lol.
  4. LOL!! Good find William!

    Winter fun

What does everyone do in the winter off season for fun? Here's my favourite thing to do!
  6. I've never seen a Walmart carry guns here in the Ottawa area, bigger Canadian Tire stores do though.
  7. This is the most action this forum has seen in a while LOL Even have the chat room fired up.
  8. Wow, Mike it's been ages! Welcome back my friend!
  9. Welcome back Ross, glad to see you back on here again. REALLY nice to see some old members coming back! (Not "age" old) lol
  10. Glad to see you back on the forums guys!
  11. I couldn't agree more on both those statements! I'm good for around 10 shots in a row bench shooting with my 300, then I start to flinch anticipating the feeling of being kicked in the shoulder by a stallion. I remember sighting the first scope I mounted on that gun trying to get it zeroed, turned out I had the wrong rings or bases on it. After 20+ shots I couldn't shoot anymore lol. Have yet to get scoped though *knock on wood* My cousin's husband who is a police officer took my uncle and I to the range years ago, he let us shoot his police gun 40 S&W, I forget the brand, SIG maybe, I'm not familiar with handguns. Anyway he had never shot a scoped rifle and my uncle had his Savage 99 chambered in .300 Savage, light recoil gun, and he wanted to shoot it. Well the scope cut him right to the skull and he had to get 9 stitches above the eye!
  12. Unfortunately our Walmart stores in Canada don't sell a whole lot of hunting supplies. Some cheaper line clothes, limited amount of ammo and air rifles, a few trail cams etc. I did notice Cabela's had some decent deals, haven't made my way into the city recently though. Probably a good thing too! LOL
  13. A little frosty here now. I actually grilled some T-bone steaks for dinner outside. The west wind was a little brisk lol. 4 inches of snow coming Monday. Then the rest of the long term forecast looks pretty good. I still had Orlando, FL in my phone's weather app from my trip last month, it was just a couple degrees above freezing there this morning!!
  14. It sure is slow. I'm not a member of any other hunting forum, but I know what William is saying with not all forums being as dead as it is here. I just came from the snowmobile forum that I'm on, that's the only other forum I'm an active member on... reminds me of how it used to be here, if not more busy! Hard to keep up even though I don't post much there, do more reading than anything. I'll never stop coming here though no matter how dead it is, it's like dropping by and visiting and catching up with friends. Hard to believe I'm on my 13th year here.
  15. Glad they're making progress. Tell them to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes or so after the repair. That will clear codes. If it's running good but the engine light is still flashing she may have to drop by a shop and have them perform a crankshaft variation learn procedure with the scanner. It basically relearns the position of #1 cylinder into the engine control module. If it is out of sync at all it will falsely detect misfires.
  16. Nice!! They were on sale at Cabela's last time I was there and stupid me never picked one up. They'd be handy for shooting groundhogs. Or shooting my .300 WSM after about 5 shots.
  17. As I was reading that I thought coil pack right away, or plug wire cracked. Get them to run it and spray over the coils and wires with a spray bottle with water to try and locate the source. There's 3 individual coils, have also seen the ignition module which the coils sit on fail as well.
  18. Hey Steve! Enjoy your holiday with the family. I remember going from dial up to DSL internet, couldn't believe the speed!

    thorns

Never found a thorn in a deer before, I do recall when I was a kid my uncles skinning a deer and there was a golf ball size lump, they went to cut it out and it burst and oozed out some stinky green puss. It was nasty. I remember my one uncle who has a weak stomach for that stuff gagging his brains out and the rest of us laughing at him. Do you guys have hawthorn trees down there? They have thorns on them 2-3 inches long! We have quite a few of them up here, hurts like heck to get pricked by one.
  20. The engine doesn't have to be jacked up, that's for damn sure lol. Autozone guys... geesh! We don't have Autozone in Canada but other chains. All the guys behind the counter believe they're grand master technicians. It's a tight squeeze and a bit of a pain to get behind the engine to get them but it can be done. Been a while since I worked on one but if I recall I would use a flex ratchet with a normal 5/8" spark plug socket with a 1" or 3" extension. If I recall there's a brace between the struts I would remove to get a bit more room. I would recommend having them do plugs and wires and a fuel filter. The Lesabre doesn't have the two motor mounts that bolt to the rad support unfortunately. I know what you mean by removing them and pulling the engine forward with a ratchet strap. Used to do that when doing head gaskets etc on venture vans, impala's etc with the 3.1/3.4's.
  21. We had freezing rain all day today, then it changed to snow. Right at the freezing mark. Our temps are supposed to drop over the week too.
  22. I stayed home and watched the ball drop in NYC on my comfy couch. Happy New Year everyone!
  23. Looks good Trevor! Enjoy the new gun. Is that a 30" barrel on that? Looks long!
  24. Awesome buck William! My original thought on score was also mid 120s. That trail cam pic he looks like mid 130s for sure! Congrats!
