Last earthquake we had here was about 3 years ago. It was a 4.4 and hit about 2 miles across the river from the house on the Quebec side. I was laying in bed when it hit, nearly knocked my 42 inch TV off my dresser!

We have over a foot now, seems like we get a bit every day. Cold front is moving in today bringing a low of -4 tonight and -9 tomorrow night.
-
Happy new year everyone! No resolutions for me lol.
-
We are getting hammered with a snow storm now! It's 11 degrees feeling like -4 with the wind. Got about 6 inches overnight and it's not supposed to let up until this evening so we should have a foot or so. Glad I got the Skidoo out yesterday! Gonna go rip around the fields and get some air off the drifts later on!

Very nice! Still no snow here. Had some back in October lol. Supposed to get a foot Monday and Tuesday though, freezing rain tomorrow.
-
Merry Christmas everyone!
-
We hit 62 yesterday! It's 46 now, very green Christmas for us. Calling for 12 to 16 inches of snow on Tuesday with a high of 14. That's a bit more like winter lol.
-
High of 61 degrees for Christmas Eve here, unreal!!
-
Crazy warm here too, 52 degrees on the way home. The first week of October we had snow and lows down around 10 degrees at night. Thought winter would be in full force by now but I guess not. Looks like we will be having a green Christmas, haven't seen that in a LONG time. Looks like highs in the 40s straight through til the new year with lows right at the freezing mark. My poor snowmobile is crying in the shed wanting to come out of hibernation lol.

That's awesome! Congrats Allison, awesome deer. I wanted to take my daughter hunting with me but she's only 2 months old, figured I better wait a few more years lol.
-
Just a couple flurries here last night, nothing on the ground though. It was nearly 60 degrees here yesterday morning and a cold front came through dropping the temp to 30 within a few hours. It was like summer and winter in one day lol.

Good job on number 2 William! That's a dang good shot with a muzzle loader lol.

Well rifle season was a bust for me, the deer just don't seem to be moving at all. Saw lots in bow season and up until last weekend. Not sure if the warm weather last week screwed them up or what the deal is. Oh well, have until the end of December to stick one with the bow.

Yeah true William, never thought of that. Headed out for about an hour and a half this morning, wind switched around out of the west now and it's still raining and around 45 degrees. Never saw a thing except for a grouse that scared the living bajeebees out of me walking in. Took off from the side of the trail I was on as I walked up beside it and never saw it lol. Cold front is moving in this afternoon with the rain changing to snow this evening before it stops. It would be so nice to have some snow on the ground for tomorrow morning's hunt but I won't hold my breath. Weather looks nice for the last 2 days of rifle season.

Went out yesterday evening, hit the grunt call a couple times in the last hour, not 30 seconds later I can hear a deer walking behind me. I got pretty excited and was looking over my shoulder with the rifle half up. Could see movement though the prickly ash bushes, it took a few more steps and I saw the short nose on it, then another fawn appeared behind it. All summer I have been seeing the same 5 deer. One doe had one fawn and the other had 2 fawns. They all stuck together and saw them while bow hunting too. So I'm not sure if their momma got killed or if she was back further. They hung around for 20 minutes or so and I was hitting the grunt call, they were looking around for another deer and sniffing with their heads up sniffing. It was entertaining. It's a crappy day today, supposed to rain all day, all night and most of tomorrow. Hopefully this weekend I will have some luck.

Thanks William, I will try and upload it to photobucket. I am on the tablet so I will repost with my laptop. Figured it would have brought the full size pic up when the thumbnail was clicked but I guess not. Yes it was a big yote for sure, that 6 feet was me holding up by the back paws, so it was stretched out as far as it could.

Yesterday afternoon I headed to the stand for my evening sit, haven't seen a deer in the past couple days. I stood up to pull something out of my pants pocket and look up and a coyote is trotting down one of the trails towards me. This is rifle season so I was in full hunter orange so I figured he'd spot me. I had my rifle laying on my chair and he just happen to stop behind a cluster of trees, so I picked up the gun and shouldered it. He made a couple steps and I put the cross hairs just above the front shoulder and squeezed, he bit the dust and didn't even flinch. First kill with my Remington 700 CDL SF 7mm-08. He was a good size one, probably 50lbs easy, long too, with his nose touching the ground holding him by the back legs it was close to 6 feet tall.

Didn't see a single deer yesterday, sat from 6:45 to 9:30 yesterday morning and 2pm til dark last night. 20 minutes after I got to the stand yesterday I stand up to get something from my pocket and look over and here comes a coyote trotting down the trail. Don't know how he didn't see the hunter orange, then he stopped behind a cluster of trees so I quickly grabbed the rifle and got it to my shoulder. He took about 3 more steps and I fed him a 140gr power point from the 7mm-08 right above the front shoulder. He hit the ground like a ton of bricks and didn't even flinch. That was pretty exciting, didn't expect to see one lol. Heading out here in a few minutes. Gonna sit til 9 or so then I have to take my daughter to an appointment to get her first needle. Rain is supposed to move in tonight until Friday which sucks! Going to sit a bit longer this afternoon and make the best of it. Rifle season closes on Sunday here.

No luck last night, didn't even see one! I have instruction from my father in law to shoot a doe if I see one, he has a doe tag and it is legal to party hunt so I can fill his tag. Legal shooting time is in 2 minutes so I better get my butt out there! I'm lucky that my stand is less than a 10 minute walk from the house lol.

Congrats William! And good luck to Christina.

I'll have to check your story out after I post this William! Well unfortunately I got pretty sick just before we were scheduled to leave for the hunt camp last Friday. I stayed at home this year. Felt better by yesterday so I hunted last night and this morning. Saw a deer this morning running about 75 yards from my stand, not sure what it was. Was hoping it was a doe with a buck hot on her heels but nothing else came behind her. Heading out shortly for my evening sit. We'll see what happens! The weather finally cooled off. It was around 20 degrees this morning, warmed up into the mid 40s now so the deer should be starting to move.

Awesome buck, congrats man!!

Congrats to everyone on their deer so far! Tomorrow is our rifle opener, the clocks went back an hour this morning which puts legal shooting time at 6:15am tomorrow morning. Caught a nasty cold a few days ago but it's starting to ease up. On my way to work yesterday I saw the two smaller bucks that were with that big 8 pointer just down the road from here. So we'll see what happens. Supposed to get really warm here this week, high of 67 on Thursday. 56 tomorrow which is still really warm for us in November. Oh well at least it's not calling for rain tomorrow. Gonna try being in my stand shortly after 6, hopefully "Tyrone" makes an appearance.

Congrats on the banded bird! I don't waterfowl hunt too much, have never got a banded duck or goose. I'm going to sit in the stand tonight, see what happens. Beautiful day here, the week of high winds is finally over by the looks of it. It was 22 degrees with a heavy frost this morning. Saw 7 deer out the window in the field as I was feeding my daughter just as the sun was rising. All bald ones. Actually had a dream last night that big buck in my avatar came out in the field, grabbed the .300 WSM out of the case and it didn't have a scope on it with no sights either, by the time I got the other rifle I couldn't find shells. Ran out and it was gone, I woke up in a panic! Funny how the brain works in your sleep:rolleyes:

Haven't been out yet this weekend, was raining yesterday evening, busy today all day. Monday's are my Sunday since I work Tuesday to Saturday so maybe tomorrow evening I will get out if the weather is nice. So much to do and no time to do it lol. We are losing daylight fast here, now when I leave for work it's dark and it's dark when I get home so I can't get anything done outside during the week anymore. Have to cram everything and family time into my weekends that go by like a blur lol.
