Got out back and got the scope dialed in this morning. This rifle is amazing! That timney trigger is unreal! Here's a few groups. Printed these targets off because I was out of real ones. The squares are only 5/8" lol. First 3 shot group after getting close. Enlarged the lower hole. Last two groups. Final one was the 3 holes circled together. I think I'm in business! Not bad for resting on some pallets in -17 weather, and factory ammo.

Well here it is! Arrived this morning, mounted the scope with one piece talley rings. Even with that big scope on it the rifle only weighs 8 1/2lbs. Very light! Can't wait to shoot it!

Should be Don. I am crawling the walls like a kid at Christmas lol. Delivery date says by Wednesday. Think I'll go to Ottawa tomorrow and grab a box of ammo or two and some bases or one piece talley rings.

Pretty sure Tink Nathan is his real name.

Wow, that's about as low as it gets. Honestly there was always something about that guy that I wasn't sure about. He didn't rub me the right way.
-
Wow, no idea about anything with that said person. But nice to hear from you Anthony, glad you decided to stick around.

It has a 26 inch barrel. The .257 Weatherby chambering was a limited run. My personal favorite is the one with the grey laminate stock, but they are nearly impossible to find. I may end up getting a Boyd's stock in their pepper laminate, which is the same colour as Remingtons grey laminate. I don't believe this has the engraved floor plate. I traded a CDL SF 7mm-08 for this. Since I got my .280 Remington, the 7mm-08 kind of got a back seat. I miss my .25-06, so I ended up getting this, which is basically a .25-06 on steroids! It will launch 100gr at 3700fps. And should push the 75gr to the 4000-4100 mark. Should be a good shooter. I love the 700 platform. I'd love to get into some long distance shooting, this is a great candidate to do that. Next step is make a trip into the city and grab some dies, powder, bullets and some magnum primers.

Made a trade deal on another new toy! Coyotes won't know what hit them. Always wanted a "Roy" and have just acquired one. Hoping to have it by the end of next week. Remington 700 CDL SF .257 Wby Mag, has a Bell and Carlson stock on it, 26" barrel, Timney trigger and will be wearing a Nikon Monarch 3 4-16x50.? I'll get some better pics when it's in my hands all set up!

It went through Ben, I passed your message onto Steve.

I know this is a 11 year old thread but what the heck lol I have two Stihl chainsaws MS391 64cc 20" bar 3/8" pitch chain for the bigger stuff MS230 40cc 16" bar .325 pitch chain for the smaller stuff Both are awesome saws, haven't had a problem with either of them. Whether it's 100 degrees or -40, they always start, run and work til you turn them off! (or they run out of gas LOL)

I have Steve on Facebook. Can pass your phone number onto him or ask for his if you want. Shoot me a PM if you want me to. Can't remember the last time I saw him on here.

Went fishing with my brother yesterday for lake trout. Only caught a couple perch, oh well, still nice to get out. Today we went up and visited my grandma. Not sure what's up for the rest of the weekend. May get out for a walk in the woods tomorrow and see if I can find some coyotes. Deer season ended the end of December here, so patiently waiting for October 1st lol. Still lots to keep me occupied until then. Coyote hunting, ice fishing til April or so, a little snowmobiling! Have a great weekend folks!

Great idea! 1. April - shot my second turkey. What made it so special was my 3 year old daughter (now 4) was in the blind with me. She even helped call it in with the box call! Seeing the look on her face when I squeezed the trigger was priceless. I will never forget it! 2. May - Made the best move in my career. Got out of a not so great place to work for a dream job at a big marina right on the Rideau river on the south end of Ottawa. Amazing place to work in all aspects. Never been so happy to get up and go to work in my life. 3. July 28th - welcomed our second child, Patrick to the world 18 days early. He's happy and healthy and stole another piece of my heart. Can't wait to get him out hunting! 4. November - due to many reasons, mainly health and lack of holidays I have not been up to the hunt camp since 2016 for rifle season. Made it happen this year, spent the whole week up there. Despite the slow hunt, and temperatures in the negatives at night and single digit highs for most of the week, we had a blast. Hope everyone has a great year in 2020.

Happy new year to everybody!!

Get out there Martin! Lol Made it back to the brown lake yesterday with my brother. Took the 4 wheeler this time. Turns out it was 1.5 miles into the lake instead of the mile I estimated lol. Maybe I'm in better shape than I think I am!? Only caught 2 more yesterday, and some perch. I didn't get pics, they were about the same size as the first two I caught.

That time of year again in this neck of the woods. Switching from hunting to ice fishing. I'm laid off til April or so, so I am hoping to get out quite a bit this winter! My 4 year old has taken an interest to it. Took her out a few days ago to a speckled trout lake. We ended up landing and releasing 9. Today I went on the hunt for brown trout. Very rare species here in Ontario. The lakes that are stocked with them by the MNR can be tricky to get to. Made an hour drive and a mile hike into this beautiful lake today. Only fished for a little more than an hour, wanted to get home before the freezing rain started. Ended up with my first 2 browns of my lifetime. Just small ones, but another species checked off the list for me. Man are they ever gorgeous fish. My brother and I are headed in to the same lake tomorrow morning. Hoping to find some bigger ones to bring home for a snack.

Merry Christmas everybody!!

Wow, so sorry to hear that Dave. My condolences and prayers go out to your family.

Very cool! Haven't seen one of those in a long time around here. Used to see them from time to time up at my grandma's.

I never connected up at the deer camp. Slow year for us up there! Have until December 31st to get er dun with the bow here at home. Congrats to everyone on their deer. Very nice!!
-
Well rifle season came to a close on Sunday. The weather was too miserable with the strong winds to get out again. Have bow season til the end of December. Muzzleloader also for the first week of December. May borrow my brothers muzzleloader and give it a try. My last day of work was yesterday, decided to take the voluntary layoff for the winter. Go back sometime in April. So lots of time for hunting and ice fishing! Woohoo!

No luck up at the camp, came home yesterday afternoon to see the family and end off the season in the treestand here at the house and hopefully get my daughter out for an hour or two in the ground blind if it's not too cold tomorrow or Sunday. Had the dog out for some excersize this morning chasing the skidoo around the field, and noticed a nice size fresh track leading into the woods. Grabbed the rifle and went for a walk, it went over to the neighbors farm. Found a couple runs too. Currently in the stand waiting. We'll see! It's 26 degrees with a strong NW wind, cold front coming in, dropping down to 6 degrees tonight. Maybe they'll get on the move by dark.

Out for my evening sit now. Actually found a spot with a little cell service. Been a cold week, woke up to -20°C/-4°F this morning on the thermometer. And it's sitting around 15°F now. Never remember it being this cold in rifle season! Got a couple inches of snow Monday night. Been slow with the deer though, one of our members got a doe last week and that's it. My buddy missed one earlier this afternoon during a chase. Deer seem to be moving more today so we'll see what the end of the week brings! Oh well, still nice to be out in the woods.

The time has finally come. After work tomorrow I'm off to the hunt camp until next Saturday. I was up on Monday for opening day with dad and one other member. We saw tons of sign, probably more moose sign than deer sign. Never saw a thing. Weather was nasty, strong winds with snow and rain all day. This morning I woke up to 2 inches of snow on the ground. Low of 19 with a windchill of 9 tonight, that should get their rear ends in gear! Looks like Saturday and Sunday are the only days that will come above freezing during the day. All next week is mid to high 20s for highs and 10-20 for lows with some snow in the forecast. Good luck to everyone else.
