Archerycountry.com has roadtrips fleece 30% off. I purchased some and it was a great deal.

I just bought a dozen of these through my archery shop and was wondering if anyone has used or planning on using these arrows. I've heard great things about them and just curious what others think.

Re: How many pope and youngs have you killed I've taken 5 P&Y's in the last seven years. I've only scored them myself and never had any officially measured. 163,140, 139, 129, and 127. I've also taken a few around 115-120.

Re: IMB outfitters in ill The problem is with the land they lease. Instead of controlling large parcels of land they lease small parcels which makes it difficult to control the hunting pressure. I had hunters posting right on the boundaries which was very uncomfortable. The average size lease is around 100-160 acres and you have to consider most of it is fields. There were plenty of other hunters in camp who felt the experience was a waste of money. The problem is that IMB has gotten too big, they are the largest in the US, and they don't work as hard to put you on deer. I consider myself to be a very accomplished whitetail hunter and expect certain things when I go on a guided hunt. The guides at times have no idea what they are doing and never take the wind into consideration when putting you on stand. We all no the importance of using the wind. I could go on about other things but after using them for three years I will not be rebooking. I don't expect to shoot a deer on every hunt, however, I do expect to have a good chance at seeing some shooters. I was listed on their website as a reference and as soon as I left Missouri they made sure to take my name off. Apparently they were concerned with people asking how my experiences were with them! Thought I'd give you some more details and good luck on choosing a quality outfitter.

Re: IMB outfitters in ill I've hunted with IMB the past three seasons. The first year in Iowa I took a 163" twelve point. The second time I hunted in Illinois and never saw a shooter. This year I hunted Missouri and had a terrible experience. I ended leaving the hunt early because I was so disappointed. I will not use them again and have been researching some other outfitters to use in the future.

I was just looking through the new Bowhunter magazine and saw Realtree has a new camo out called HD AP. It looks like an amazing new camo with better light and dark contrasts than Hardwoods. I just thought I'd let everyone know!

I stopped by the local shop today and they had the new Drenalin set up as a demo. The bow is amazing! It's a half pound lighter then the Switchback XT and feels unbelievable. The pivoting limbs increase arrow speed dramatically. The problem is that Mathews keeps raising their prices every year. I got last years XT for $749 and the new Drenalin is $905 with tax. Now I need to decide if it's worth it! I love my XT and have had great success with it.

Re: Buck #2 Party hunting is legal, my friend that was hunting with me tagged it. His time is limited and he wanted some venison!

I shot my second buck of the year, scores around 120. I shot him at 11:50 AM and saw shooters all morning. I've had a great season. The rut has been outstanding this year with a lot of big buck sightings!

Re: My biggest archery buck Nice MN buck! Congratulations!

Re: MN Sept Bruiser I'm from Central MN, near St. Cloud.

I shot this deer Sept. 25. Dressed out just over 225 lbs and rough scored in the 140's. This is the earliest I have taken a mature buck, and was surprised to say the least. Now I have to wait for the rut and some out of state hunts!

Re: Things you learned this year.... I've been fortunate enough to have harvested quite a few mature bucks and what I've learned is to be patient and hunt smart. The obvious but sometimes ignored. For instance, don't hunt the wrong wind, don't over hunt a stand, learn your property inside out. The biggest reason I take good bucks consistantly is that I've figured out how deer use the land. I feel this is most crucial.

This awesome deer was taken in northern mn during muzzleloader. Scores in the 220's. Here is the link. http://www.startribune.com/images/ne2/178362.h.jpg

I'm heading to Pike Co. for the second firearms Dec 1-4. How has the rut been so far and do you Illinois hunters think the bucks will still be moving well. Up here in MN I would say there will be some great late or post rut action yet but just wondering how its been down there?

Re: Scentlok or no scentlok??? I use all Scent Blocker clothing and believe it is well worth it's price. I've taken mature bucks down wind from me and they never reacted like they smelt me.

I've been trying all day to post pics of the two bucks I've been blessed with and Jbeck thankfully posted some for me. This has been a very interesting couple days. I'll copy my first story from Sunday and then I'll explain my hunt with the 135+ 9 pt. I hit the woods today (11/13) at 1:00 and the winds were howling at 20-40. The forecast called for diminishing winds by 3:00 and I had a feeling the bucks would be on the move once the winds calmed down. At 3:00 I was checking the football scores on my cell phone (Vikings beat the Giants, a win is a win) and I looked to my right and hear comes a nice buck. Last Thursday I had a 120 8 pt. 30 yards from my stand and couldn't get a shot. Tonight he's in my garage waiting for the trip to the meat processor! Not my biggest but he's a great buck and will make some great jerky and sausage. The buck worked his way to within 15 yards of my stand and freshened a scrape that has been dormant for a couple days. The spot I was hunting this afternoon is my favorite. I've taken 4 great bucks off this stand in as many years, it's a funnel that bridges the oak flats to the swamps and the crop fields beyond. When the buck started making his scrape I was at full draw and had to wait about 2 minutes to get the shot I wanted. The new Slick Tricks did the job and the buck only went 40 yards and crashed onto the logging trail. Needless to say it was the easiest recovery and dragging job I've had to make. Pics will be posted tomorrow, I didn't have a photograher and I want to wait until it's light out. Just wanted to share the great news! The next morning ( 11/14 @ 7:30 ) I took down a 135+ 9 pt. I was in my stand by 6:00 AM and patiently waited for sunrise. I had a great feeling about this morning, the bucks have just started really seeking in the last couple days. This is the lastest rut I've seen in many years. I' have not yet seen a mature buck with a doe. They have all been cruising and seeking. Anyways...About 7:30 I checked behind me and here comes a rack through the woods right at me. I had to spin around, grab my bow, attach my release and draw within a few seconds. This buck ( the bigger of the two ) was working at a quick pace, nose down, on a mission. I found my spot in the brush to make the shot and bleated at him. He stopped on a dime and I let the arrow go. Not to change subjects, if you haven't tried the new Slick Tricks I highly recommend that you do. Both deer that I shot were double lung and fell within 40 yards of my stand. These broadheads are amazing...blood trails like I've never seen. Anyways, this buck tumbled over into some dead falls 40 yards from my stand and the rest is history. The smaller of the two rough scores 120, and the bigger one is 135-140. Thanks to everyone for letting me share this with you.

Re: Swig\'s Iowa Giant Amazing, buck of a lifetime!!

I can't figure out how to get the pics from cd to the photo post. How do you make them smaller? Any help would be appreciated.

Could I e-mail someone my pics? I've tried all morning and can't upload into photopost.

I know some of you are waiting to see the pics of my buck I shot yesterday and they will be up tomorrow along with the bruiser I shot today. Party hunting is legal in MN and this morning I arrowed a 135-140 9 pt. Two bucks in 16 hours, a 600 yard drag today, hardly any sleep, I'm wiped out. I promise some great photos tomorrow. We took at least 50 pics between the 2 deer and they turned out great. My 9 pt. I shot today has 21" mains, 17" inside spread, 10" G2's, 9" G3's and is an awesome buck. I'll get the pics up tomorrow but now I need some sleep.
