Haha nice one. I load my own shells and they have some pop. I load a 2.5” for kids that’s deadly and has zero recoil.

Haha yeah it’s a little short even with the extension the over the stock sims butt pad give it (Got to work on an extension) so at the angle I was at my thumb knuckle was literally touching my nose and I didn’t realize it. When I touched it off I knew it lol. I was just happy it wasn’t my 20ga. Just have a little crunch in my nose now. Well worth it.

Thanks Forgot to add the measurements Jeremy’s had an 11.25” beard and one spur that was 1 1/8” the other was a nub maybe 3/8” and weighed 17lbs Mine had a 12” beard and one spur that was 1 1/8” the other was a bump 1/8” and weighed 17lbs. It was strange that both had only one spur.

My covid 2020 turkey season went out with a bang bang. Long story short me and my buddy Jeremy made another hunt together and it was total silence in the woods that morning so we bounced around to a few different spots with no luck. We get back to his house and I asked him to help me look at my car because it was making an awful noise in the front end. We drove it up the road and when he was turning it around he said "would you look at that" it was a strutting bird going over the hill just behind us. Its on his land and he said well I guess well try them in the morning. I said why not get him now. So we took off back to his truck to gather our stuff from the morning. We rush back up to the field and can't see anything, I told him they will be right over the crest of the hill. We ease out open a metal gate without making a sound and I get my fan out. I started crawling across the field to get a look and I see the gobbler strutting next to the woods about 100yds away and he's got a buddy with him and 4 hens. I motion for Jeremey to get up there with me and he crawls up there beside me. We inch forward together until we get about 60yds from them and that's all they could take. They turn towards us and here they come on a march. We let them get to 30yds and that's way close enough. I stop them with a call and they separate a little. 3,2,1 bang bang. We doubled to end both our seasons. It wasn't the picture perfect call them in hunt but boy oh boy its a rush having them run in to you ready to fight.

Made a mad dash to Florida and was able to take this fine bird with my .410. He’s got some beautiful color to him. 15lbs 10” thick beard and 1 1/16” spur and a broken spur I’ve got some buddy’s down in Florida that are outfitters and run TnT Outfitters. We’ve been talking about the covid-19 mess and how it’s affecting their year. They have had a pile of folks move their hunts till next year. They invited me for a hunt and I couldn’t pass it up. I wanted to try to get a bird with my .410. I left work at midnight Thursday night and drove the 9.5hrs to their camp house. They asked me if I needed to sleep and my answer was I’ll sleep after i kill one lol. We loaded up and went looking. The first set was a beautiful hardwood and pine mix. We called up a hen but no gobblers. So we moved to another field to give it a try. When we started eating the edge of the field Shawn noticed a gobbler strutting in the corner where we wanted to sit. We watched as the gobbler a coupe hens and a jake worked their way off into the woods. We decided to go sit for a while in hopes of them coming back out. We set up under some low hanging oak limbs on the edge of the field. After about 30min the two hens come back into the field literally 5’ from me. One of the hens saw my eye move and she moved back into the woods, the other hen stayed just to my left milling around. I hear Chad say there is a red head out in the field. Sure enough after some hard looking through the oak limb I see a brilliant bright red head and two jakes behind him. We make a soft call and the red headed gobbler leaves the county in a hurry. Like Road runner fast. About the time he’s bolting I see a white head pop up behind the jakes. It’s another Tom. Shawn and chad start calling and using a decoy that Shawn had in his pack to coax that weary gobbler across 100yds of open field to within 35yds. I was finally able to pick a hole in that limb and take a beautiful Osceola gobbler. About broke my nose in the process with that little .410.

I slip away from work a little early again in hopes of getting Maddy her first bird. We get set up on a ridge where we had heard a couple the day before. Jeremy and Maddy are sitting about 40yds in front of me. Just as daylight starts to appear we hear 3 different birds gobble and one is real close. The close bird actually flys down real close to us but it’s thick and we can’t see him and he goes quiet. The other two are gobbling good and go the other way. Jeremy hits them with his snuff can call and the are quick to cut him off. A few min later they gobble closer. Now I’m trying to motion to Jeremy to get Maddy and make a quick move behind me where it’s a old log road and where I think they will come to. He never sees me and told me after it was all over that he didn’t want to move because there was another bird close. After they close the distance in half I couldn’t stand it i jumped up and made a quick move about 50yds back farther behind where I was sitting. I got next to a big pine and got ready. About 3 min later I’m looking at 2 longbeards looking for the bird they had heard. I had full intentions of letting them walk by me to get to her but when they didn’t see what they thought they should they got nervous and their heads changed colors and they tucked their wings and started to walk off. I felt bad but I wasn’t letting them walk off. My second MS bird I asked Maddy if she was mad at me and she said no sir happy! We’re going back to try to get her one soon. 16.4lbs 10 5/8” beard. 11” if I untwist it 1” spurs

Man it’s been a tough one for me this year. A crazy outage work schedule along with a ton of pressure in the woods has made it an interesting season. I got an invite from my buddy Jeremy to go hunt the bird that got within 4’ of his daughter and me opening day. I was hoping she was going back but she was at her grandparents so me and Jeremy took I Off after him. Ended up with him strutting and drumming at about 150yds for an hour. Bad set up on our part and the bird didn’t do his normal deal. 2 days later were in there again and we hear him gobble in the distance. We make our way to the area he’s in and pinpoint his location. I ease off down the hollow closing the distance on him and set up. Jeremy stays back about 40yds. He’s gobbling every so often and finally hear him fly down. You can hear him drumming like crazy. Finally he gobbled and has gotten around to my right. I reposition and wait for him to hit an opening. I’ve got my first MS bird of the year and he’s a fine one. The Good Lord really blessed me on this one. 20.8lbs 11” beard 1 1/8 spurs

Well even though I'm working 13hr nights 6 nights a week I was able to get out and help a buddy of mine take his 8yr old boy and his 12yr old daughter. Birds gobbled a couple times on the roost then maybe 2 times on the ground. Heard 4 in all directions. It got quiet after fly down so we sat patiently calling softly every so often. I no more than reached up and turned off my camera than out pops a head then another then 6 more. We had 8 hens standing at 15yds from us and we couldn't move. Then I hear it, drumming and he is close. I tell Ty to get ready but he is frozen because of the hens. Then after what seemed like forever (5min) I see the tips of his fan moving from left to right just over the rise in the hill. He is trying to flank his hens. I tell Ty to get his gun up and to aim right way right Every so often you could see his head looking then just his tips. Ty finally got twisted around an is now leaning on me and is able to brace his 20ga on a small sapling. I make a few soft calls and ask him if he can see the turkeys head when he raises it to look at us. He said he could see it and I told to put the dot on it and squeeze the trigger. My next call I hear the safety click and then boom. His first turkey was flopping just over the hill from us. Double beard 8 3\4" and 5 3\8" 1" daggers for spurs and weighed 19lbs. He was pumped He cracked me up though, after I got done dryheaving I said dang Ty you sure are calm, to which he replied "well I'm calm because, well I like shooting" LOL cracked me and his dad up. He's a stone cold killer. Just though I'd share. Mississippi youth season started out pretty dang good.
