  1. I have just shaped them in the form I wanted and salted them good to dry them out. The do shrink in size considerably. VanDykes taxidermy supply sells some leg preservative, but I have used nothing special but salt to preserve the legs. I am not sure what the yellow stuff is. I'm thinking a callous?
  2. My son Joe told me you connected! Congrats Ruth!
  3. You will be very Happy with that machine. Yamaha makes a quality product tht won't let you down. Good Luck with it!
  4. 40 is my comfort zone, but I feel mighty confidant with them 3 1/2's at 50 yards.
  5. That bites hope you catch them. You can get a no flash cam mount it high up facing down above a dummy/replacement cam on a tree and bait the spot for humans. You'll get pics of animals and people. Rake area dirt finely and look for boot/sneaker prints. Signs of "smile your on camera" help also even if there is NO camera.
  6. Any buck that is worthwhile to the shooter to mount should be mounted. I have seen does mounted and even button buck too. The memories that go with the hunt is what mounts remind me of. Of the 2 good bucks I have taken, one with a bow one with a gun. One became a skull mount and the other I just capped and mounted his antlers to a plaque. My son on the other hand took a nice buck this past season and I said if he knocked down a good one I'd pay for the mount...I ate my words:rolleyes: Cost me $495 for his mount:eek: It was almost a 100" buck for a 15 year old with a bow! How could I not mount it? He has the 1st mounted head in the house.

    Stimulus Delays?

I just got the note stating how much I would receive. So I guess we can expect it in a few weeks here.
  8. Awww how cute! Hmmm...I'd say late 60's or early seventies...Right? Moms are special for sure.
  9. YES YES YES... To each and every Mom out there a GREAT BIG HUG and kiss:) Thanking you for making our lives soo much more special by being just who you are, to each and every one of us. The Greatest Mom in the World. Happy Belated:rolleyes: Mothers day.
  10. Woo...How'd I miss this thread? Glad you have it diagnosed Brian and hope you get better soon. Prayers on the way.
  11. I tried plan our wedding around deer season, but the Reception Halls availability and my financier (and I mean financier:D) seemed to have won. Got married Nov.3, 90 (middle of the rut:mad:), 1st son born Nov,91( I was hunting when her water broke with Joe in 91 and got a ticket speeding home to get to her and the hospital. 2nd son born late Dec,93, 3rd son born mid Aug 96. I took care of those birthdays during deer season after the 1st one during the rut. Or at least I like to think I did. You know marriage, kids, work and life can really get in the way of hunting sometimes. Plan NOW!!!...
  12. I'm soo hungry now for breakfast. Thanks. Gotta get me some of the home made stuff. PM's will be going out!
  13. Cool story. Congrats on a nice bird.
  14. With the rain letting up for the weekend I think the gobblers should be willing to play. I'll be out with my sons Good Luck Ruth. Have fun!
  15. My 3 sons and I will be heading to our spots this weekend and I'll be darned if one of us don't knock down something... CBs

Back in the 70's...yup. I think I still have my Cobra CB Base station in the attic somewhere. When it was only 31 channels:rolleyes:
  18. Chris, do any of them ever feel tardy? That is tough to lose on on something like that, but lets hope it is motivation for future improvement.
  19. I replaced my 835's OEM choke with a Undertaker and have not look back since. Winchester Supremes 3 1/2"#6
  20. I have bought many items from the SG over the last 20 or so years. Good deals if you know what to look for. Last March, I was able to buy a pair of Rocky Pro Hunter 16" snake boots on E Bay, being sold by the SG. I was able to get the boots cheaper buying them on E Bay than from the SG directly. It was a "Buy it now" auction. Got the boots for $45...a steal. The buyers club they offer for $30 is worth it if you make many purchases each year. They do have good customer service.
  21. Congrats to the hunter and to you for taking a kid hunting. Like you say...pass it on.
