That pink tag year was 95-96.

To help get some of the plots I have get started, I used plastic kids pinwheels, around the plot to scare off wildlife until it could sustain foraging. Cheap watch dog.

The 07-08 NYS hunting tags are available. The new tags are yellow! A lot easier to spot in the woods. Remember when they were pink? YUK! Anyway. NYSDEC has put some hard work and invested in a better and more quality rules and regs book. Most of it is in color and easy to understand. You can just look at the new book they give you, when you get your tags, that it has a new look and it written differently than in the past. It looks like a high quality Hunting magazine. One thing that the new one has that stands out from books of the past is....advertisements. DEC has taken advertisements in their annual rules/regs book. It was a matter of time. As long as the money taken in is used for the betterment of wildlife in NYS than it was a smart move to take in sponsors and the like. This move might also have been a way to cut off future tag price increases for a while. By taking in $ from advertisers. The newly appointed DEC commish Grannis so far is off on a good foot. Lets see how far he steps.

I'm a mechanical guy. NAP 100gr Spitfires... I Love 'em:)

I have a reservoir behind my home and I too, thought the deer drink from it. 2 summers ago we had a nasty drought and I thought to put some water out back in the woods behind the house. So I have a old brick layers mortar tub that I used, it is on a stand that brings it to about 2' high. The deer drink from it like mad. But I see mostly the young deer and does drink from it. Never the mature bucks. They sniff it but never drink. I wonder if the scent the hose leaves spooks the bucks? One thing fill that water often or else it will become a mosquito paradise and a haven for other types of organisms that thrive in stagnant water.

Look here...www.snydercreek.com They should have what your looking for.

Does NJ offer lifetime licenses? That would be one way to beat any future price increases. I saw the price frenzy coming on a long time ago in NY, and beat it buying a lifetime sportsman and archery license. NJ is the ONLY state that I think may have it worse than NY when it comes to hunting and firearm ownership. Look at the trend in the metro NYC region. Billionaire/millionaire politicians; Corzine, Bloomberg,Spitzer, Grannis (NY's new DEC commish ect) are and will be making policy for us all in the future. Teach your children well outdoorsman. We are becoming a endangered species.

I'm shooting a 60lb/29" Mathews Outback using Beman 380-16's. The penetration I get is tremendous. I have been surprised on one occasion, when I shot a doe, that I thought my broad head did not open because I found it closed. NAP said it was normal that the Spitfire could close after exiting the animal. After recovering the doe, there was a perfect tri-X blade pattern of the spitfire. So no doubt that it had opened. Any reservations about these blades not opening at the time of truth, should be dismissed. They fly just like field tips and have a good strong tip for bone penetration. That tip blasts thru shoulder bone...no problem. I highly recommend NAP Spitfires of the Spitfire Pro. Its all thats in MY quiver. 100gr NAP Spitfires. BTW...NAP sends LOADS of archery equipment to OUR troops in that sandbox over there for recreation.

What is the draw length? You might have a buyer on this board with that info... I love my Outback, paid $545 stripped, when it was the hottest bow out there

I'll take a trade on some 100 grain Spitfires...

Sweet looking ride! Let me ask you something....do the dampeners have ANY effect on the ride? Great Job.

The Summit Broadhead Backpacker folds flat, both parts. The cable that wraps around the tree is heavy steel that is coated with a rubbery plastic to dampen sound and not to mar the trees. It has barrels crimped at various lengths for various tree widths. These barrels slip into a keyhole on each side in the stand frame for adjustment. A tethered knob slips over a stud the stand to be ready to climb. On the Backpacker model, climbing is done by resting the weight on your forearms, grabbing the stand; as you pull yourself up the tree. It is a super comfy stand and I have fallen asleep more times than I wanted to The only thing, when you snooze a bit and open your eyes...with the open front...it is a B-I-G wakeup. The rapid climb stirrups are a HUGE help in the climb and descent. Good Luck!

That Genesis is a really great starter compound bow. No fixed draw lenth and a consistent 20lb draw weight. All my boys started on that bow, then the Browning Micro Midas, it has a adjustable draw length that you can adjust without a bow press. It comes 20-30lbs and 40-50lbs. Yup... 5 years old was about the age they all started. Now my son Joe is better than me.

Woodshed...give the Summit another hard look. My broadhead backpacker folds flat is light, has a open front for bowhunting( I shoot sitting down with my Outback) and is a breeze to put together in the dark when the hunt is about to begin. Very sturdy and comfy too. Summit baby..Summit

This is a great thread! Great stories and pics!!! I have gone over our turkey hunts from this spring soo many times in my head since then, told my co workers the stories from this year so many times they can tell the story This year Joe and I had our best year together and bagged some mighty fine birds too. Joe's calling is incredible and the excitement we shared together this season, will be hard to top. Hunting with your son(s) is hard to top. Especially when you bag something big. These times are forever.
