Let me make this clear...I am NOT the coach:) OK? I am the father of one of the kids on the winning team. I watched it happen. That play came from the kids...the coach did NOT call for that play to happen. Sure it was gone over at practice, but that play was put into motion by the kids only. The defensive coach is in the dugout and you know as well as I do, the confusion that takes place when a ball is in the dirt and the tying run is on and the ball is still live. I give the kids credit for being able to exploit a weakness. Same way when a pitcher has no control and everyone who gets up is taking. Or when the 3rd baseman is playing too far back and you lay down a bunt, to exploit the weakness. Everyone wants to end the game with a walk off grand slam, but sometimes that just don't happen. Games end like this... If you are gonna learn/teach the game...learn/teach ALL of it. Being aware of where the ball is at ALL times is something that should be taught and learned. Thanks for all the views.

What happened was the ball was still in play from the catchers throw. The 3rd base coach did not call time out, nor did the Ump and the runner stepped off the bag BEFORE the pitcher got to the rubber to start the next pitch. There is NO leading in Little league, at least not in ours. So basically the runner got caught sleeping and so did the ADULT coach for not calling time after the throw back to 3rd.

What exactly happened was ...OH boy this hurts for the losers...loaded bases, 2 outs, top 6 down 1 run. A pitch in the dirt makes the runner on 3rd take a leap towards home, the catcher recovers quickly and throws to 3rd. Runner gets back safe, 3rd base makes the throw motion to the pitcher, pitcher pounds his glove, starts to walk towards mound, runner steps off bag....YER OUT! The coach at 3rd had NO clue what happened( he was really paying atttention huh?) I feel thats its a legal play, and if kids are going to learn the game, learn the game; not just bits of it. The Whole game. Yeah it bites when it happens to you, but it SHOULD only happen once. When it stings you remember. That team is taking some negitive comments for that play from tournament coaches and parents about the fields. Sounds like sore losers to me. I was just wondering what others thought about that play, some say its a bit too cut throat for kids at that level. I say its part of the game. Theres no crying in baseball

OK...the hidden ball trick was used by a team in a little leauge(10-11 year olds) tournament to end a 1 run game with 2 outs in the last inning. The team and coach is taking on all sorts of negitive comments and remarks concerning that play from other teams and even the some of the tournament officials at the field while the tournament goes on all week. It is a legal play, it is used in the pros( the Mets used it last year) and the play appeared in the college world series too. It is alot to ask for from 10 -11 year olds to guard against this type of play, but at this level of play ALL rules apply. Such as, if the catcher drops the ball on the 3rd strike, runner can take 1st base at own risk. ALL big league rules apply. I have mixed feelings about it, BUT...if it was a legal play( umps did not object, they made the out call) then all is fair in love and baseball right? I am curious at to what others on this board think about the hidden ball trick used in LL. Thanks.

I am shooting a vintage Ben Pearson Javelina. 66" 45/28" I was leaning towards the wood grain carbons, like the Heritage and Beman classic's. Best I've found fletched was Archery Experts with a choice of 3-4 or 5"duravanes or $25 more for the special fletch's, like quick spins, blasers and feathers. But those Gold tip 35-55's Jim mentioned have piqued my curiosity. Are those Gold Tips standard black? Also should the fletch touch the shelf before the arrow is drawn? That way I'll know what size fletch to get for the arrows. The 5" shield cut feathers I have on my cedar shafts look nice, but they can't take a beatin' Looking to trade up! Thanks for the help Jim!

You should be receiving a check from me very soon for 1 dozen wraps.

I know to match up spine with bow weight, but there are no spine selection tables for stick n strings like there are for compounds. The most I find is a spine selection of 250 or 350. Also, should the brace height determine the lenth of the fletch? Could the fletch touch the shelf/rest before the arrow is drawn? Any info appreciated. Thanks

I am shooting several stick bows. I have a Bear Black Bear Hunter, Indian Archery Deer Hunter and a Martin too. The one I am shooting the most accurate and I intend to hunt with ONE day is...a Ben Pearson Javelina 45#/28". I am current shooting Port Orford Cedars with 5" sheild cut feathers, right helical fletch, with 125gr field tips. At 20 yards I'm on the pie plate, I need to be better than that to hunt with. I am going to look into the Carbon Express shafts Jim Thanks. I should get more durability out of the carbon trad arrows. Feathers are nice, but they take such a beating. What type of fletch is reccomended?
-
I am looking into getting some of the wood grained carbon arrows that Gold Tip makes for my trad shooting. The cedar arrows get expensive and they are soo delicate when arrows start hitting each other on the target. I am thinking about these Gold Tips. Has anyone used them? Any feedback on these shafts would be appreciated.

Good Luck with it Jim. To the collection it goes... Whats this, make it like stickbow #873 for you? I just got started in trad archery about a year ago and I already have 5 of 'em, so I know what you mean. Let us know how it shoots!

Nice job on everything you are doing. My check will be in the mail for the wraps tomorrow.

Thanks for the clarification guys. What we as gun owners need to watch out for is that HR1022. Mc Carthy is THE sponsor of that one too. I think the NRA, which never waivers on the 2nd amendmant stance, conceeded to this bill in prep of the coming war of HR1022. Thats the one WE have to win.

Thanks for sharing the pics! I love Robins. Not a carnivore, but a hunter non the less. After I cut my grass, I like to watch the robins work my freshly cut lawn with my binocs. They are very skillful hunters and the way they get worms and other bugs is great stuff.

Without spraying anything, there are beetle bags that have the beetle attractant scent in the bag. The beetles go in and can't come out. When the bag is full just throw it away. Look into those.

BBQ the breasts and make soup from the rest!

I'm glad you guys are OK. Sure was a close call. Consider a lawyer, you have EVERY right to persue damages. Main thing is you and the Mrs are alright. Imagine if you were in a smaller vehicle?

Yeah...my A/C is on. My queen called me at work yesterday asking if the central air unit was ready to run. I cover it for the winter so debris dont get in the coils and fan. I told her it was still covered and the breaker was off for it. So the A/C won't turn on. Wouldn't you believe it, she uncovered the condenser cleaned it off, found the breaker and turned on the A/C! This was a MAJOR thing for my Queen to do. She does not even pump her own gas! She must've really been hot! I have only one zone in the house, so upstairs don't get as cool and in the basement you could hang meat its soo cold. With the kids in and out all day long the house never gets cold.

1985, I was out at 21, my own apartment. 6 years later married, bought a co-op in a high rise (19th floor!). Lived there for 5 years to save $ for a house, sold that, moved to the NY burbs and bought my 1st house in june of 97 and in november of 04, I bought a second home/land (hunting cabin) that we use EVERY weekend. None of this would have been a reality if I did not have a good job. I moved out as soon as I started my electrical apprenticeship and have not looked back since. Taking care of Mom and Dad was a non issue for me they were younger then and healthy, besides, my little brother was there for the next 10 years!

What type of ATV? 4 X 4 or 2 X 4? 2 stroke or 4? north or south jersey? Be a little more specific. I have friends selling all kinds of off road vehicles.

One of my hunting buds is gettin married saturday night. I would have normally sent a "no reply" back for a wedding on Memorial day,I would have sent a gift, but said no on a long weekend like this. But this is the friend who introduced me to turkey hunting, so how could I say no? But not to fear...the boys and I will be heading up to our hunting cabin for whats left of the weekend late saturday night. The kids want to shoot some skeet on monday, that sounds like a good idea to me! Have a good and safe weekend everyone! God Bless our troops!

This is whats its all about, helping those less fortunate. Congrats all around!

Thanks Ranger. This season has been the best so far for Joe and I. We are clicking at soo many levels. Joe is maturing into quite the hunter. Most teenagers want little to do with their parents, especially on the weekends. Hunting keeps my sons and I very close. We owe a great deal of our close relationship to the outdoors, and of course my wife; who lets us have the freedom we want, to hunt various species throughout the years. Our time spent in the field is time well spent...always.
