  1. Its not the biggest buck but its a good a six point. but I'm not sure they will count all the points. This is the only picture i have and the points are not clear. I will be going out this weekend with the bow even though I have a firearm permit. I'm looking forward to hunting a archery park with firearms on the surrounding properties, hopefully the additional hunting pressure will get the deer up and moving.
  2. I haven't been on here lately. this hunting season has been very difficult for me . I wasn't sure I would be able to even pull my bow. I cant remember if I mentioned that I had a bad break in my left shoulder in June. two weeks before bow season i couldn't even lift my bow. the first week end bow season i walked within 15 yards of a doe, by placing my bow on my knee i was able to draw, but holding it was hard and i missed by feet. after a meeting at my bow club i was able to borrow a youth bow to practice drawing, building my strength for my own bow. at our annual club hunt i had thought myself to shot left handed with my bow, but still had eye dominance problems. i wasn't able to even pull the youth bow and was getting disappointed but still i hunted. every weekend i found my self in a tree. than the last week in October on a Tuesday evening hunt i tried to pull my bow and to my relief i did it. now i looked forward to this weekends hunt. on November 1 this year i was bow hunter, at 5:30pm I harvested my first deer of the season a nice doe (pictures to follow) at 6:00pm my arrow my arrow had found its way to put down another. second deer went to needy family.
  3. hi everyone I'll be hunting Illinois this year also. hopefully I'll be able to hunt opening day. I had a bad shoulder break in June and I am still in therapy. shoulder is coming back but slower than i expected. i will be picking up my bow this week from the shop (having it cleaned and poundage set back to a lower setting.) i will try to keep active on this post. Its good to be on the board (Good doe) wishing everyone a good season and a safe time in the woods. GO TEAM
  4. well I'm off for another hunting adventure. this time its hunting open public land in the filth season. maybe i can find a bigger bird. wish me luck.
  5. for team 12(FFA) I hunted hard for 1 and a half days but this bird was a giveme . i walked up to a deer trail crossing a field of prairie grass and he jump up just 5 feet away and ran head high strait down the trail then rolled like a rabbit at 20
  6. glad to be back, spent a week in the woods Wow!what a good time and as soon as i get my photos transfered. i got a good bird for the team 1" spurs and a 10 1/2" beard http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/willfish02/101_1838.jpg
  7. sorry to hear flyerla. hopefully you can get your bird. I'm starting to pack, leaving next Sunday. the campers almost loaded. turkey vest is packed. I hope this rain stops soon i hate to camp in the rain.
  8. the one thing i added is a jerk line. i loosened the stake nut, using a 2ft length of bunji cord attached to a tent stake on one end,an old fly line and reel to the other, attached it to the base of the breast with a 6 inch tag line. i also bring along a few landscape staples to keep the line close to the ground . it has worked very well for me. the fly reel stores easily in the body for easy carrying.
  9. In Illinois we get to hunt till 1:00pm. I think the lottery was good in Illinois when a turkey was hard to find, now there every where. I hate that the state tells me where to hunt and when. there are turkeys on three different properties that i hunt on and i can never get the permits that i need to hunt those properties. i think its time for the state to start issuing a multi bird permit much like the fall archery tag(state wide). the biggest problem is the first lottery. do i apply for a special hunt area or a private area? if i get the special hunt than the counties i want to hunt are all gone in the second draw.which i must exclude my self because i have a permit from the first draw according to the (state) rules. sorry to rant, but i cant hunt where i want to.
  10. My wife's and I will be celebrating our 25th this march 19th. what we have done for the last 5 years. We both take the day off from work, and we take a long hike in the woods. We look at all the wild life, and all the wild spring flowers (she has a book on them) sometimes we get to see some wild turkeys (where there going and where they have been). then we find a quiet little restaurant to have lunch. followed by a stroll through all the antique shops, the little towns in the area have offer. i think its the only day that my wife enjoys scouting with me and I enjoy shopping.
  11. coffee to me WOW i got to have it . the first thing i do in the morning is get out of bed and make a pot. then i drink coffee till 11:00am and then I'm done. No more caffeine for the rest of the day.
