  1. I'm so sorry Steve. Our prayers are with you and your family. Brian
  2. I thought I've read that it's not good to feed corn during the summer especially with the temps we've had this summer.
  3. Since we're still in this drought do you guys think it's too early to start feeding corn?
  4. I don't know if it's the same person but someone using a bow shot two trophy bucks inside a fenced property where the owner raises whitetails. This is a few miles north and east of where the cattle were shot.I don't understand why someone would shoot tame animals and especially leaving them lay so they're not doing it for meat.......scumbags!. I hope the sheriffs department catches them!!!
  5. If I'm not mistaken except for the hottest july record in 1980 the rest were in 1934-1936 that must have been some horrible summers stretching all the way to Tennessee. I can't imagine dealing with this heat with no air conditioning!
  6. It is bad!!! The grass other than a few patches of burmuda is dead and I'm already feeding cubes in addition to a 28% molasses tub to our cows.I have the bulls in another pasture and have a round bale out for them plus cubes and a lick tub.The ponds are getting low so I hope we don't run out of water if this heat lasts another month. I planted some white oaks 3 years ago that have 4" calipers and are probably 15" tall and I'm losing them.I've been watering them with 30 gallons of water in plastic barrels with a small hole drilled near the bottom on each tree. In the evening when I'm watering the trees does are out milling around with their fawns looking for something to eat,one doe has 3 fawns.I was wondering about throwing out some corn but would it hurt them in this extreme heat?I've always heard corn is a cold weather food source. I've also thought about pouring small piles of sweet feed out for the deer if I can keep it away from the cows.
  7. I end up having to buy a new limb saw every season and would like to find one that will last.I've been buying Gerber but end up breaking them where the blade is attached in the handle or the blade itself.I know I'm probably abusing them but I seem to always have a 2-3" limb in the way.I try to hang stands in red, white and pin oaks and if a blackjack oak is in a good spot I'll grab the chainsaw but only if that's on private land. What brand do you guys use?
  8. Have you ever seen buck tags for sale? Pricey?
  9. I have an unfired remington 700 sps .204 stainless with leupold rings/base,burris signature series 4-16,sling and bypod,6 boxes of ammo, trigger job 2.5 lbs, everything is new. Last sunday I carried the gun in at the local gun show and when someone asked about it I told them I would take $1000.00 for it with no takers... is that too much? I think I'll use the burris scope and bypod on my ruger no.1 .270 then try to sell the .204 with rings, base and ammo.
  10. So you can spray clover with 24D and not kill it?
  11. Ryan, I posted a message on your home page. Are you still in Ft.Gibson? Brian
  12. 5 years??? Before I drew the deer hunt in wichita mountains last year I hadn't drawn in over 15-17 years!
