  2. Re: Harrisburg PA show anti-doe!! [ QUOTE ] i went to the sportsmans show yesterday and was suprised by a big booth filled with older men handing out panflits and talking to everyone about how the game commision is doing horrible things. they were preaching that the game commision was bad for PA and should be impeached... i laughed at the old man and kept walking. i went to the sportsman show to look at new products, guides, and trophy animals...not some old guy that cant shoot a spike running across a field at 300 yards. i dont really want to start this debate again but it really ticked me off that they were promoting this during the show. [/ QUOTE ] I believe the key phrase that you used in this paragraph was "a big booth filled with older men" that phrase right there sums it up for me!!!!!
  3. Re: My first bird for \'06 Congrats on the bird. Cant wait till this year.

  5. Re: Lean and Mean! I am trying to get down in general, not just for hunting. I cut myself down to 1500 calories a day. It is very tough trying to fight the urges. However, I feel better, lost a little weight too...
  6. Re: PA Hunters Check In As of May 9th I still have my Spring Gobbler Tag. The first morning I had two gobbler's responding off the roost. Heard them fly down, I was calling and they were responding, it was beautiful. Then, all of a sudden they stopped and got completely silent, so I stopped calling as well. Then, out of no-where I looked up at the far corner of the field and saw a yote looking for breakfast. I am assuming that I was breakfast. My spring gobbler hunt quickly became a yote hunt. Couldn't get him in close enough to get a shot though. Since then I have not heard many birds.
  7. Re: What does bowhunting mean to you? [ QUOTE ] Hey guys, As a student at the University of Illinois, im choosing to write my next journalism paper on a feature story on bowhunters as a group. I have a few questions to ask you guys, since you are the real thing. 1) What does bowhunting mean to you? 2) What is your favorite part of bowhunting? 3) Describe what it means to harvest a deer or whatever your quarry is. 4) Anything else that would help explain bowhunters as a group of people, sharing the comradery and support that we do. Any help you guys could give me could really help my paper, especially since i need plenty of quotes from real hunters. Thank you guys very much for all your help, i figured i could count on my fellow bowhunters to help me out. Have a good one ya'll. [/ QUOTE ] 1. Bowhunting to me, is the challenge of making yourself the dominate preditor (for lack of a better analogy), making yourself completely invisisble, and undetectable to an animal which has incredible senses and an heightened awareness of it's surroundings. 2. My favorite part of Bowhunting is that any day your in the woods could be the day you harvest the trophy of your dreams. 3. What it means to harvest a deer to me. It is a sense of accomplishment. It also means I won't have to go to the store to buy meat. 4. The comradery that you share with other archery hunters is the tradition that has been established with the sport.
  8. Re: Who is YOUR fav. hunting pro staffer I Would have to say that my favorite Hunting Pro Staffer is Michael Waddell. However, Bill Jordan, David Blanton, Tom Miranda, and the other Realtree Pro Staff are also enjoyable to watch. Seeing how I grew up just 25 miles from Bob Foulkrod's Bow Hunting School, I would have to add him as a childhood hero. (please... lets not get into weather he is ethical or not, this is just an opinion.)

    Question

I just got a new bow, Matthews Switchback. With my last bow, Bowtech Blaknight II, I set the poundage all the way up and started shooting from there. After about a year I noticed that the limbs were splintering, Bowtech replaced them free of charge. I was wondering, how many of you set your new bow at full poundage when first shooting it, or do you back it off until the limbs are broken in? Do you have to break the limbs in at all?
  11. Re: Treestand Heights? the lowest I hunt from is 12 ft, thats with a hang on stand. I will go with my climber up to 30ft if need be. It all depends on the situation, and the weather.

  13. Anyone hear using these broadheads. If so what do you think. Any Pros, or Cons about them.
  14. Re: New Member Thanks. As far as last season it was a disappointment. It was not only a disappointment for me but for many hunters in the state of Pennsylvania. I didn't see as many deer as I have in the past seasons. Hopefully, next year will be better.
