  1. Thanks guys! I'll take all into consideration. Still a lot to learn!! Hunter not a farmer!!
  2. Next year i'll be moving back to my home state of Pennsylvania, there I have 385 acres of old strip land... 25 yrs reclaimed now. It has plenty of fields with scattered black locust patches and good hardwoods over the high walls. Now the fields are covered in some type of sharp edged grass and mostly crown vetch. We have been managing the land with what we shoot and what not, but have not done much as far as food. So that being said has anyone had any experience with planting food plots on such land? I know i need a soil test but I'm pretty sure they put down alot of lime stone then covered it with some 2-6 inches of top soil (not much). Lots of rocks to. We have a tiller to get the soil turned over. We have both fields that would get alot of sun and some that would be a sun/shade mix. So the questions? 1.) What type of plants do you think would work well? 2.) Should I plant something to till under the next year for nutrients? 3.) Fall vs Spring plants? 4.) Go with food plot brands or with your basics (alfalfa, beans?) 5.) you get the idea i'm new to this... Yep can't find much on QDMA sights about "reclaimed" land. Any help would be great!! Thanks, CJW

Welp, long story short, BOOM! 20 yard run... NICE BUCK DOWN!!! Enjoy the pics!

  7. Any one else try these heads? I had a couple sent to me from a buddy thats sponsered by them... They were 125 grain and on a Easton Axis FMJ, they have flown absolutly wonderfull! I can cut fletchings at 40 yards... Though now my bow shoots a lil slower with all that arrow weight, but heck they were free... They flew better than both wasp expandibles, grim reapers, and whackums!! Kool head, and dont dull very easy, thats a good thing... Just seeing if anyone else has had success (atleast at the target range) with them!
  8. Re: First day Pa, how did ya do Morning right after day break passed on small 10 probably 2 1/2 years (bearly a ten) But it was cool to watch him feed by at about 26 yards, later in the morn. a mom and two lil ones fed by, out of stand at 10:00 (wet)... Went to the stand for th evening at about 2, deer were out everywhere!! bumped 6 laying in the middle of a field! 3 small bucks, and 3 doe... About 5 mins in stand saw 2 young does... then about 5 pm the deer started to move out of the crab apple thicket i was below, ended up seeing 22 deer feed into field, only 6 close enough to shoot, but they were both a mom and two lil ones, fed right by at about 6 steps, Awesome day!! Left a lil early as i was watching a huge thunderstorm role in... Yea DIDNT BEAT IT! haha got really wet on the quad ride back to camp! All in all a good day though!

  15. The first 3 pics our of the same 8 I posted a pic of early (i think), The big brows are a give away.. And he "being so camara friendly, has earned himself the nick name "BROWS" The 4th pic is of a new one, he looks to be a really nice 8 though, the 5th and 6th, our new bucks, young though, but both have alot of potential, especially the one trying to become a 10 point already!! The 7th pic is of what looks to be a good buck, but you cant see the one side of its rack, hopefully its just the camara doin that. The last pic is one of the deer i posted earlier, but last time he was hurt and the left side dropped down by his face, now it is gone! Must of got annoying! Welp, guys theres the run down, ENJOY!!

  20. Re: anyone hunt with a pse firestormlite I also have one, and it does shoot great, like everyone has said it is fast, light, and accurate! I made mine a little havier with stabalizers and limb savers, but that is just a prefernce... I have shot both deer and turkeys and its done a fine job on all!! I'm sure you'll do fine with it!
  21. Well, just got done watching the Roadtrips Season 3 video, and once again they did a great job... I pretty much own every realtree video/dvd that is made, and i have to say the roadtrips dvds are some of the funniest and most entertaining... Micheal and the crew give ol' jeff a run for his money sometimes... And being stuck in Alaska for that many days would of been interesting... Nothing a ge tar, spoons, and a bottle, cant help... HAHA... Great DVD!
