  1. My vote is for the Rem 260. Im 22 years old now and my dad bought me a 260 when I turned 12 and passed hunter safety. I haven't had much experience shooting other guns because this is the only rifle I've ever used for deer hunting and will probably be the only rifle I ever use. I absolutely love it. There is hardly any recoil at all. Ammo can kind of be a pain to find some times but Gander Mountain, Cabelas and some of the larger stores usually have it. I also know people who use a 243 for deer with great success so I think either/or would be a great choice. Good luck!
  2. Hey guys, it's been awhile since I've posted last (been busy with school). I just have a question about a farm Im hunting. This will be the second year I've hunted it and have a few questions.1. I've been setting up with my climber near the red dot. It's basically like a bowl between the two points that run out.2. Would the center of the red box be considered a bench?3. I can basically hunt within the black square. Does anyone see any other areas that may be promising?Also...the far right side of the black box (the east side) is an overgrown fence line with trees and everything. Do you think the deer will cross at this point to get from the two patches of woods? There are crop fields inbetween. If anyone has any information to offer I would appreciate it. Thank you!
  3. Hey guys. I'll be planting my food plot in the next week or two and was wondering what fertilizer I should be using and at what rate. I'll be planting Biologic Outfitter's Blend and can't find any information about what to fertilize it with. As a side note, has anyone planted this seed before and what kind of results did you get? Thanks in advance! Kyle
  4. I wouldn't really compare a 3/8" piece of plywood to a deer but maybe thats just me. And yes I do understand that sometimes the shoulder is hit and more often than not ribs which I guess could be compared to something hard like plywood. Just because of this test I wouldnt count out the Rage completely. I've been shooting muzzys for a while now and decided to give the rage a shot this year. I Guess we'll see how it goes. I think i'll focus more on practicing and shot placement rather than relying on the broadhead though. I dont think you can really go wrong with the Muzzys...at least from my personal experience. Im sure ill be packing a few in my quiver this year along with the Rage 2 blade. Thanks for the post and the results! Kyle
  5. Re: Summer/Fall plot help Basically im wondering if I just spread some clover over my plot this spring will it germinate or would I need to redisc the ground up? I plan on discing the ground up in august and planting an annual blend. I just want there to be some clover there this summer for the deer to feed on. This is my only plot area so I wont be able to plant my annuals anywhere else. Thanks for the help guys! Kyle
  6. Re: How much would you sell otback for? 400 at least
  7. Hey guys, im sort of in a dilemma here. Last fall I planted Martin's Fall mix (annuals and some clover) and it came up great and the deer loved it! (thanks martin!) The thing is, I want there to be a good stand of clover this summer for the deer to feed on but dont know if Ill need to add more clover to the plot or leave it. In August I plan on digging the ground up again and replanting annuals again. I guess my question is..how should I go about my plot for this summer? Add more clover to the plot or just leave it, hoping a good stand of clover comes in? Also...should i spread fertilizer sometime this spring/summer? Thanks in advance! Kyle
  8. Re: Finally...an AR that makes sense. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Bag limits for bucks will remain at 3. One of those 3 bucks can be a "buck of choice" that doesn't meet the antler criteria. This will give us the flexibility to take out inferior bucks or use it as an "oops" buck. [/ QUOTE ] Your state should just change it to 1 buck per year and then there would not be any oops bucks. [/ QUOTE ] i agree, and if people would stop shooting bucks that even have the potential to be put into the "oops" category you would also see a lot of improvements. Does taste great imo
  9. Re: WI Sheds my sister just hit a small buck (6 pt) with her car the other day. when i went to find the deer there was a nice buck with both his antlers still attached in the field. I went out all day Saturday and didnt find anything so I think Ill check after all this snow melts. Kyle
  10. Hey guys and gals, I just purched a used '05 outback and was wondering about something. As far as changing the draw weight..how many pounds is one full turn worth? Thanks! Kyle
  11. Re: WI Sheds some are, some arent. id say the majory probably have not yet. id be looking hard in another 2-3 weeks though. Good luck!
  12. Re: Got one of my mounts back looks good..i also like the base its on, adds some nice touch. congrats! Kyle
  13. Re: Your most embarassing moment this bow season? Last day of the season (Jan. 7th) I drove out to my hunting area and started getting dressed. I sat down on my car seat to pull my pants up and my car made a weird beeping noise but i didnt think anything of it so i shut the door and went hunting. Got back to my car and it was locked, keys inside. I must of accidenly bumped the lock button so I had to call my dad on my cell and he brang my spare key. IT was the coldest day of the season too....Figures. Kyle
  14. Re: Bow model question Cant say I know any of the specifics but my buddy shoots a Parker Phoenix as well and loves it. From what Ive seen Ive also been impressed with the bow itself. Sorry I cant give you any more detailed information. Kyle
  15. Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 Ive shot muzzy 100 grain 3-blades for a couple years now and love them. Have never tried the montecs so I cant really comment on them but all Ive heard is good. If you like the 3-blade muzzys you should maybe give the new MX-3s a try. Im going to shoot them with my set-up and see how they shoot for kicks and giggles and if they dont shoot well ill definately be going back to my 3 blade muzzys. Kyle
