I am looking for a new scope for my shotgun for deer hunting. I think I have narrowed my search down to either a Nikon Slughunter or a Leupold UltimateSlam. I am leaning towards the Nikon because the ultimateslam seems to be created more for the muzzleloader hunters. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two scopes? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. That is exactly what I wanted to hear.

How important is it to have a gun in all camo while turkey hunting? I am planning on buying a new gun in the next month or so and I have been debating this. If the black/synthetic gun will work I can buy a Benelli Supernova but if camo is a must then I will have to purchase the Nova. Any advice will be appreciated

I am in the market for a rangefinder and have pretty much decided between two rangefinders, the team realtree 440 or 600. Does anyone own one of these rangefinders and what was your experience like with these. Thanks for the help

Has anyone had trouble using lumenoks with Maxima arrows that have the nock collar on the back? I tried to get them to work but gave up and took the nock collars off.

I have been thinking about getting one of these for a while now but I think I need a little more info from you all. Right now I have a .300 win mag. I really like that gun but it is a little heavy and a bit on the over kill side at times. I reallly like the wide range of hunting opportunities the .25-06 could be used for. Anything from whitetails to coyotes and maybe even a prairie dog or two. if anyone has one please chime in. Thanks

I have narrowed my search for a new bow down to these three models. I found plenty of info online about the Fred Bear and Bowtech but couldnt find anything on the Hoyt website. Does anyone know the IBO speed for the Hoyt? Anyone have any experience with any of these three?

I am in the market for a new bow. Currently I have been looking at the: PSE Brute Fred Bear Instint, Code, and The Truth Diamond Rapture, Justice, and Triumph Reflex Rampage, Growler and Ridgeline. My price range is no more than $550. Right now I am leaning towards the Fred Bear Truth, PSE Brute or one of the Reflex bows. I plan on going to a pro shop and shooting some, if not all of these bows but i was just looking for some advice before I do that.

Re: Sitting on Pins and Needles Hey WABS, I will also be hunting the muzzleloader season in MN. I am excited because it will be my first year using a muzzleloader. Where do you hunt in mn during the muzzleloader season? But my focus now is on the rifle season, only 3 days away.

I decided it is finally time to invest in a good pair of long underwear that will keep me warm while sitting in my deer stand during the upcoming rifle and muzzleloader season. I hunt in MN and it can get very cold during late november and early decembr. I went to cabelas and checked out a pair of Polar Expedition-Weight Polartec® Power Dry. They look comfortable and warm but are they really worth th $40 for the top and $40 for the bottoms? If anyone has any experience or anything to add I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: crud ring Im shooting a NEF Sidekick, 777 pellets (2) and powerbelt 295 grain bullets. I got a 3 inch group at 50 yards today with open sights which is a good starting point.
-
I shot my muzzleloader today and the crud ring started getting very prominent after the 5th shot or so. Has anyone else noticed that once the crud ring starts to form, the muzzleloader starts to become less accurate?

I bought a NEF Sidekick and shot it for the first time tonight. I did have an issue with the fiber optic sights. We were running late and didnt start shooting until sunset. Has anyone ever had a problem with not being able to see the front sight because the back ones were "glowing" too much?

Re: SE Minnesota I hunt near forest lake and cambridge during the bow season. I have been seeing quite a few does and fawns but will have a better report for you once sept. 16th rolls around.

Re: hunting when very windy I love windy days for stalking in the standing corn. Last year I got within 10 yards of a bedded doe. My dad shot two of his biggest bucks doing this during the gun season. When the wind is blowing strong the corn is so noisey the deer cannot hear you walking between the rows.

Take a look at this arial pic and let me know where you would hang a stand. The yellow circles represent deer stands or ground blinds. The magenta dots are well used deer trails and the red dots are rub lines. The blue circled areas are swamps that are pretty much dry. This is a 160 acre farm planted with corn this year. The wind is usually from the NW or North. The property has a mix of oaks, birch, popplar, and alder. I plan on hunting during the MN bow, shotgun and muzzleloader seasons.

Re: New to muzzleloading, need help! I've been doing some research and I think I'm going with the NEF Sidekick. Thanks for the input. -

Re: New to muzzleloading, need help! I don't plan on using a scope since they are not allowed during the MN muzzleloader season. With open sights I would not plan to shoot over 100 yards. -
Has anybody shot these bullets? How was accuracy and how was expansion when it hit a deer? Thanks

I am new to muzzleloading and plan on buying a gun for whitetails this fall. I can only afford a gun that is around $200 so I've been looking at the CVA Kodiak, CVA Optima, and the NEF Sidekick. Does anyone have any experience with these guns? Thanks for the help
