  1. Rut in Southeastern Oklahoma is around 10-15 of November. Depending on how far south of the border you are, should be perfect for the opener this weekend. Big boys should begin to be on their feet over the next week or so. The further South you are, the later in the year.
  2. No rut activity this weekend in eastern Oklahoma. Deer are too busy chasing acorns. Scrapes and rubs are popping up though. Think we are still a few weeks out.
  3. We don't shoot spikes unless they are 2.5 years or older. About 1 in 10 meet that criteria on game cams. Haven't actually taken one the past 5 years.
  4. Very rainy opening weekend and the deer were shut down. This 8 pointer slipped up right at dark Sunday evening. 100 grains of 777 and 250 grain TC Shockwave anchored him fairly quickly. Haven't scored it yet, but thinking 115-120 and possibly her biggest yet.
  5. Have hunted around Marrietta, Ardmore, and Madill. Really depends on the particular area your hunting. I'd definately keep in mind the wind and thermals. What town is closest to ya?
  6. I wasn't ever much of a poster. I have shared some successful pics from time to time and offerred advice to people coming to hunt my areas (Texas/Oklahoma). Used to be my go to site every free minute I had. I agree, differing opinions and know-it-alls is why I don't frequent the site. Facebook/social media has nothing to do with it for me. Archery talk still seems to be blazing and I believe it is due to being more lenient with the content allowed. The main reason? People who say the .223 caliber isn't sufficient for taking deer. Tell that to the twenty my family has killed. Furthest distance travelled once shot was less than 50 yards...guessing 90% have dropped dead in the tracts. Not to mention the infinite number of Hogs killed. It's an amazing caliber with so many options and perfect for youth/women....& men. This one pushed me over the limit.
  7. Had a pretty good day on a local lake.
  8. Catfish....you can catch bigguns right from the bank.
  9. I went with Horton due to the fact that it is a recurve crossbow...no cam/wheel issues. You do lose some speed, but the lack of moving part issues is worth it to me. No issus shooting to 40 yards and that is typically the max for me.
  10. Not too much of a story here. Came into the horns at 9:40 opening morning. He was the only deer I saw all weekend long. 250 Grain Shockwaves made quick work of him. Pics don't do him justice, but the camera batteries were dead. He is a mianframe 4x5. Tooth wear indicates he is 4.5 years old and he weighed in at 128lbs dressed.
  11. Rattled this 13 point up in rainy, hot weather. Gross score was just over the 150" mark...my best to date. 100 grains of XXX & a 250 TC Shockwave anchored him where he stood.
  12. Awesome video...called up a grey fox the other day....in the middle of Denton, Tx...population 150,000
  13. yep...love a tripod in cross overs...
