Nice to hear from you all again. I thought life was supposed to slow down as we "get more mature", seems to get busier everyday.. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk

Ya can't just come here telling me about your buck and not post a picture! Let's see him! As far as the contest goes, the chances of me killing a deer are pretty low. With the organization I'm in, I run a camp out of my land where two veterans come and stay in an outfitters tent every weekend. I'm responsible for guiding one of them, and then I do all the cooking and everything else that comes with it. So, my days of actual hunting are pretty much over. I've killed enough, time to share the wealth. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk

Wow! Doesn't seem that long ago for your son to be 5 already! Where does the time go? Looks like you're getting some nice deer on your land. How's the new home treating you? Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
  7. Hi all! I hope all is well with you. I just thought I stop in and say hi and fill you in on what's going on in my life these days. My kiddos are growing up, my daughter turned 11 yesterday. She killed her first buck last year. My son will be 16 tomorrow, and well, he continues to add to his wall. I finally met a great woman a little over a year ago. I'm finally happy again. Three years ago I got involved in a program started in my hometown called Heroes Hunt for Veterans. In a nutshell, it's an organization that takes veterans deer hunting, turkey hunting, and even a little waterfowl hunting. It's 100% non profit, and we pay ALL of the expenses. Pretty much the least we can do for them, signing the dotted line... Last year I was nominated president and all I can say is, what a humbling experience. We have 60 veterans booked for this year some from out of state, and we will try to keep it at that. However, the chairman can't say no. LOL Anyway, enough about me. How is everyone? I'd imagine things have changed over the last few years around here? Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
  8. Looks like a great bull Jeff. Congrats!
  9. WTG Ruth! Tenderloins for supper tonight?
  10. William that was across the road. This one was on the fenceline straight out across the river bottom from your favorite pine. About halfway across the cornfield on the right/back side. That was the actual stand I killed him from. Thought it would make a cool picture. The apple tree is blocked by me. Look in the "archery success" thread. I have a different pic in there and you can see the apple tree to the right of the stand.
  11. It was a 3 1/2 year old only 15 1/2" inside. But if I had to guess I'd say it was pushing, 200# dressed. It was a big deer. He is 13 now. I believe that was his 11th deer so far, and his fifth buck.

Thanks everyone. It's been rough. Hopefully this December it will be done. Oh, and William, it's been good...
  13. Avery took this buck the second day of the youth season. We had seen this one a couple times prior and knew it was living there. It finally came out with daylight running out. I had to tell him no about 17 times as every doe that came out prior to this buck he wanted to kill. Now, I think he's thanking me... LOL
  14. I started vacation Saturday to do a little bowhunting. I went out Saturday evening and then again Sunday morning with very little deer activity. Sunday night I sat on a fence line between a thick bedding area and a picked cornfield. About 45 minutes before dark I could see a sapling shaking about 30 yards behind me, a couple minutes later the buck stepped out. He walked directly at me. There is an apple tree directly to my left and wouldn't you know it, he came and ate every apple that fell. I had him at 3-5 yards for almost 10 minutes. The upper branches on the tree were too thick to get a shot though. The buck slowly left with a full belly of apples and headed down the fence line. I got another glimpse of him about 40 yards down the line. So, I gave him a little more time to move further away and took out the ole grunt call. A couple short grunts and a long grunt did the trick. I could hear him coming back through the brush and I saw him at about 30 yards. He jumped the fence to investigate and I brought the Alphamax to full draw. He took a couple more steps and I let the slick trick headed carbon express rip. He ran about 75 yards in to the picked cornfield and took a dirt nap. This was my first Archery buck since William visited in 09.
