  1. Guys I'm wanting to go on a guided fair chase hunt. I live in Florida and have always hunted down here. I've killed a few decent bucks to our standards 80-90" but would really like to take a nice 150"+ whitetail. I'm looking into Iowa but will consider other locations. Im just an average guy and looking to spend around 3,000. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to go with? Seems like there are several that will rip you off. I generally get sucked into those traps being the nice guy I am and trusting everyone. Also, what should be my realistic results. Most promise success rates of 60-70% but is that realistic? It is hard to justify going knowing I may be just enjoying the outdoors and not bagging anything. Although, I do realize that's part of fair chase hunting. Secondly any other advice is appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Just deer and turkey hunting and riding around in the truck scouting during the off season primarily.
  3. Guys, I would really appreciate your help. I've never owned any decent binoculars only a $100 pair of Bushnell. My budget is $500. I've read numerous post that the Swarovski are the best but I just cannot afford to spend $2000. I went to Bass Pro yesterday and looked the the older Mojave's and the Nikon's. It was very hard to tell anything in the store but I did notice a little better quality with the Mojave's and really liked the open bridge. The salesman tried to steer me to the Nikon's cause theyre $100 cheaper and the no fault warranty being better than the Leupold warranty. They did not have the new Mojave's and won't until June. Cabelas and optics planet both show them in stock. I like the Mojave's better and think I would be better off getting the newer Mojave's but I've never looked through them outside or in low light conditions. Has anyone compared the two in these situations which do you prefer? Secondly, I've almost decided to get the new Mojave's in the BX3 and after searching I noticed that Optics Planet has them in a 10x50. Which would I be better off with the 42 or 50? The price difference wasn't much roughly $20-40 bucks. Guys I really appreciate the information.
  4. Just picked up a new Benelli super black eagle 2 and I pulled the plug out of it and was under the impression that it held 3+1 for the 3.5" shells. I could only get it to hold 2+1. Is this correct? If so I looked into the magazine extension and those things are a bit pricey to get one in camo to match the gun. How awkard do those look on the gun. Can you still attach a sling? Thanks!
  5. I've had good and bad luck with them. Shot a 4 pt at 15 yards quartering away. Ended up shooting about 2 inches too far back. Did not get a pass through had about 8 inches of the arrow sticking out. Found the deer and the exit hole had guts pulled out through it and the deer never really bled because of that. Second deer was a nice 8 pt shot him near perfect and it went all the way through and he bled great. In my opinion penetration is somewhat lacking compared to the muzzys but if you hit them right the results are amazing. I also love that they shoot just like my field points. Time will tell with me. I'm still not completely sold on them.
  6. I have had great success with the muzzys just hate shooting a practice broadhead at my targets. Has anyone had problems with the muzzys not shooting like their field tips? Do the rage shoot like the field tips? Thanks again for the advice.
  7. I've shot Muzzy's for several years now on many different rigs however I've always had one problem. I sight in my bow every year with field tips and then switch the week before season starts and try the broadheads and they always shoot a few inches lower. I'm shooting the same grain field tips and broadheads. I've paper tuned the bow and think everything is set up fine. Is it the muzzy's or what? I'm shooting 125 grain but wanted to switch to 100 grain to see if that would help. I've also thought about switching to rage broadheads to see if this would fix the problem. But I really hate spending $35 bucks for 3 broadheads when I can get 6 Muzzy's for that price. Any ideas? Will the switch be worth it. Will the Rage broadheads shoot more like the field tips? Thanks for the help!
  8. Just before dark I have trouble seeing through my peep sight. I can see the deer fine but when I try to look through the peep sight I can't see anything beyond the pin. I tried a light with not much luck. Is it the peep sight or just me? I thought I might need one with a bigger opening but I have always liked the small ones. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
