  1. Ok, so I have this farm in our family, and it is a regular slice of heaven. My family and I can hunt any legal species in Indiana on this farm, it is truly great. It is about 270 acres, about 50% of which is crop-land. My uncle is actually the one who owns the farm, but he lives in California so my family and I are responsible for the upkeep of the property. Over the last five or six years we have experienced great success with both deer and turkeys. I heard today that it is my uncle's intention to sell the farm, as soon as this year. Obviously I am completely distraught by this, and am seeking a solution. I will graduate college this May, and am fully willing to use whatever money I can generate from my future job to help keep this farm in the family. Ideally I will generate enough to make this happen, because I am not willing to let go of all the memories my family and I have created there. However, in case this does not plan out I was thinking about leasing land for my family and I to continue hunting, without resorting to public land. I am completely green on this subject. I have never had to lease hunting grounds, and frankly wouldn't know where to begin. I was simply wondering if there was any advice on where to look for leases, what to look for in said leases, and roughly what a typical lease should cost? Again, any advice would be greatly appreciated, because I am in need of help. I would be looking for land in Indiana, and if you need me to be more specific I will be. Thank you.
  2. Thanks for the input. I think I am going to look for a drop camp operation in the southern part of the state for the first trip. Seems to be some decent outfitters there for a decent price.
  3. I am a longtime deer hunter that is dying to get out west and chase Elk in the mountains. I am completely new to this, but have decided to hunt Colorado due to the large elk population. I feel confident that I can physically handle pretty much any terrain, because I have been on several backcountry backpacking trips. I am looking for a good unit to apply for, one that won't take 5 years to draw, but one that provides a quality experience with minimal crowds. They don't have to be the top trophy units, just ones that give me a solid opportunity at a respectable bull. So I would be very grateful if anyone has any advice on some good units that may fit the above criteria.
  4. I am looking for an affordable elk hunting trip that still gives me my best shot at bagging a trophy bull. I am looking to hunt with bow or muzzleloader and need a guide because this will be my first trip. I was wondering if any of you have been on any elk hunts that you have liked and wouldn't mind suggesting an outfitter. Please feel free to post pics. of you success. Thanks for your help.
