dang 2 hrs is a long drive

i shoot does until about the last week of October and then start shooting does around Christmas until the end or season (mid January). I will obviously shoot bucks all season IF I think they will gross a minimum of 135"

i have had 2 of them....my first was with aluminum arrows and the second was with carbon arrows.....HOWEVER it is ALOT easier to do it with carbons!

Whats up with them and expandables? They like them b/c of the bigger cutting diameter, and they say that their recovery rate is much higher because of them.

Re: From the same deer? (pics) Dial up Beware!! it is also hard to match a 1.5 yr old with an older antler...its easier to tell if its the same buck if one shed is 2.5 yrs old and the other is older in my opinion

How close do you put your trail cam to your stand? Also do you leave it there year around?

Re: Who\'s getting a deer mounted this year? I am getting a shoulder mount of a 8 pt....it takes 2 years to get it back from my taxidermist. I could take it somewhere else and get it back a lot quicker, but the mount will not last as long, and the quality would not be as good.

ILLINOIS hunters..has anyone heard about the new rifle season they might try to pass for the upcoming years? When is the season going to be...is it just does?

Re: Has anybody ever heard of Noel Feathers I have heard a lot of things....none good. I have actually caught him in one of my stands before, believe it or not. I asked his name and he told me, but at that time I had no idea who he was and he said he had permission to be hunting the land. I told a guy that i work with that a guy by the name of Noel Feather was hunting one of my stands. He then told me that, yeah there is supposed to be a big name deer hunter in the area hunting. He then told me about all of the trouble he had been in the the past. I was pretty mad that I did not know who he was when i caught him in my stand. I would not have been as nice as I was!....but at the same time It was not my land anyway...just land I had permission to hunt on. Another guy I know real well told me he was in my area again this year hunting. I hope he wasnt!

Re: ILLINOIS residents....Someone told me its illegal No, i said i WAS going to put out a pile of corn. Yes i agree w/the state about feeding deer. Where i live and was thinking about putting corn out, there are few people around and you can only access the area with a ATV or long walk. There has never been any CWD discovered here or any counties in the area. I would love to put my camera on one of the trails leading to the field but then I would jump deer everytime I go there, including 3 nice 135-140 class bucks that go to the field on a regular basis. (A major bedding area is along the field where most of the deer come to the field, i havent set foot in there for 10 years!!) Yes, i know the season is over and it would not run them out of the area if i did jump them but i just hate to jump deer anytime of the year out of their beds...especially nice mature bucks.

Some people dont own/lease land that has a place to put a food plot either. I was going to put out a pile of corn to get some pictures on my new trail camera. I dont need to go to a deer farm to see a lot of deer either, I can just go to a late season feeding field and watch more that I can keep track of.

I definitely have to go with wind direction here in Illinois and like some of you said, it is rarly the same direction for more than three days. Wind direction and thermals are the most important factors when i choose a stand to hunt.
