  9. guys, been a while since i was able to post on here... have had computer problems, and could not find my password, finally got my pc back today from the shop..... now, about the season.... had one of my worst and best seasons ever this year.... called in 5 birds for friends/chaps.... got 3 on film. I personally was snakebit. 5 times I had birds within seeing distance only for them to lock up about 60-70 yards out, it was very very very frustrating to watch this happen time after time this season. I tried everything.... being quiet, calling a little more aggressively, etc etc. One of the birds that had locked up on me ended up dying to a buddy of mine 2 days later. Had an 11" beard, 1.25 and 1.2" spurs, and weighed 19.5 pounds. pretty good bird, spurs were sharp. One thing is for sure, left plenty of 2, 3 year olds and jakes on my places, so hopefully next season will be the cat's meow......
  10. Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt wow, i'm getting too old to be pullin this "goin hunting every morning, then going to class, then staying up till midnight doing what college students do" everyday.....
  11. Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt it's your 5:21 wakeup call on day 12 here in Mississippi, a bit cloudy, temps in the mid 50's, wind light and variable... skeeters buzzin, dogwoods in full bloom......
  12. Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt wasn't able to last week, had 2 exams and a 30 page paper due, birds still aren't really acting right up here (yes, this is north for me )... hopefully this week they'll start, should have plenty of free time. Have until May 5th to connect, that's the good news.
  13. Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt have come back to school since spring break..... birds aren't doing much in north Mississippi yet... man I wish I was back home
  14. Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt an exciting morning yesterday.... heard 10 different birds at the ole home place.....got on one and he locked up about 70 yards on a creek (couldn't get any closer because of where he was, otherwise I would have crossed the creek), got on another one about 9am, but he disappeared... did call up a jake for a youth yesterday afternoon, but he refused to shoot it, he heard about all the longbeards we heard yesterday morning and "wanted a big turkey" so we let it walk
  15. Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt ahhhh the horrors of turkey hunting..... got a solid rain right at daybreak yesterday for about 30 minutes..... shut up everything in the woods..... this morning, we wake up to a 30mph wind coming off the big muddy, went back where the birds were the other morning and hear nothing.... set up and call and nothing, on the way out, i look up in a tree and see two longbeards, still on the roost around 9am...... I guess it just wasn't meant to be on the first two days... maybe i'll get one in the morning
  16. Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt alright, well i'm off to the camp to go put us 1 up on everybody by friday best of luck to yall

  18. Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt question for clarity... The rules state that I must enter my first bird taken. Here in Ms, we're allowed 3 per season, so let's just assume my first of the season is a 2 year old with 3/4" spurs and a 9" beard..... I enter it..... a few days later, I kill the muy grande' sporting 9 beards each of which is at least 7" long, and the 2.5" daggers it calls spurs..... can I enter that one as well ???
  19. Re: TEAM #30: No Doubt All over the great state of Mississippi...... but mostly from vicksburg south, on the Mississippi River.... and we start Thursday morning
