I just took my eight year lod step daughter deer hunting for her first time this year. she shot a nice little six pointer. she shot a 223 h&r ,and i was kinda suprised at the job it done. about a 100 yard shot. the deer went about 20 yards one way about 20 yards the other ,and then it was steaks for supper

Re: Completly new to turkeys! as far as basic gear goes, a call decoy and camo is about all you need. as far as advice is you can over or under call, let the turkey tell you what to do. if you over call and the turkey shuts up and walks away try calling sparingly, if that doesn't work you may be dealing with a call shy bird and they can be a real well you know

Re: turkey calls usually i use a slate to get them fairly close then use my mouth call for close in work, but i just bought a primos box cutter model number 243 single sided box call. It sounds as close to the real deal as i have ever heard

Re: choke direction i use a remington full choke with winchester 3 inch number six shot with great results out to thirty yards kinda thin pattern much past that

Re: Cabela\'s Tactical TAT\'R sounds pretty cool but i usually use a back pack for calls, decoy, etc, and one of those butt cushions that you can turn the valve to re air up. backpack doubles as a cushion for my back.
