  1. I went with scent free commercial product (not hunting) off the shelf and also went with the home made version of a scent eliminator spray, saves quite a bit of $$. As for the UV issue, I think it is a fact but it can be tackled with a product made by Atsko (UV eliminator). In reading the hunting product labels (like DDW and others) I didn't see that the detergent mentioned eliminating the UV,did I miss something? Bottom line is I can spend an exaggurated amount on 1 product rather than on 3 or 4. Just a personal choice is all. Good luck everyone, no matter what you're wearing.

What kind of rest? Is that just the arrow without FP/BH? Edit your post and include this info and I think you'll get good advice.
  3. Now I know why I feel good about using the shop that I do, he's got um for 29.95 (3 BHs and a practice) which I think is the going rate.
  4. I'm pretty sure the shops have/use a T square that snaps onto the string, top of the tee sits vertically along the string and the long part extends horizontilly to sit on the rest which squares everything up. I wish I could help you because I'm sure it can be done at home with a level of some type but would rather someone that has done it tell you how. Is that a drop away on your bow and if so I'm assuming it would have to be in the up position (makes sense to me), but them again who knows.
  5. Well then killr put in some hay and some grain and that should do it, should last longer than those wafers and be cheaper. As for lining the storage bins/closets with cedar that sounds great and scent should be awsome but I did read where someone said to make sure you have cedar in the areas you hunt (don't use something that is foreign). I'm not really sure if it would matter but something to think about though.
  6. Regardless of whether it's a percentage or a flat fee you gotta start somewhere. I'd jump on that, if you're good it could open more doors in the future.
  7. As for the ticks, most folks recommend Permanone. Follow the directions to the T, it's for the clothing , not your skin.
  8. There's been a lot of talk about the rages lately, the 2 blade w/2 in. cut. Lots of folks are saying they are comparable (favorably) to the RM Snypers but with a bigger cut. I think a lot of folks are gonna be shooting them this year. Edit: saw them in the shop Sat. for 29.00, 3 per pack with a practice head included.
  9. Time will tell. What I mean is , you say it was shooting awesome after the shop did a little tuning but you don't mention if you have shot it since you made the change. Is it still shooting just as awesome and if so then I quess you got it. Good job, also neat looking wraps!
  10. killr, I'm assuming you are in the farming business from your signature so why bother with the scent wafers? Put it in the barn if it's close by, caulk it up good to keep the little critters out. Put a bushel basket in the bottom with fresh silage (change it every so often) and that should be all you need. I'm not making fun either, I'm being serious.
  11. Come Oct. the beans should still be there but now you mention the acorns (although you say they are scarce) which gives him the option of staying in the woods and not in an open field. I think he'll go nocturnal then if he wants beans, actually he'll probably work the night shift all thru the season. I'm thinking it would be beneficial to know his bedding area if you think you can figure it out without educating him too much. Figure it out now, hang a stand or plan where you want to set up now and then get out and stay away til the time comes. When season comes don't over hunt it. As you say "you're in a club with others scouting around which might spook him" but you might as well take a chance or someone else will.
  12. [quote There had been special doe hunts with rifle and quota hunts implemented in the past 6 or 7 years with limits of 2 does in this county during a portion of the gun season. Found out yesterday that they changed the county we are in to be in the liberal unit where it is now legal here to kill 3 antlerless deer a day for the duration of the rifle seasons. Afraid with the number of hunters per huntable acres, the eradication of the remaining herd in this particular area may very well be on its way:(. This in a county where they supposedly estimated the herd to be at only 15 deer or less per sq mile. . That is absolutely asinine. It's doubtful that many hunters will actually take that many but still, just having it written in the regs' that way is ridiculous . As mentioned, I'd be writeing or better still calling DNR and asking what their justification is. Ask to talk to the head Biologist because he/she would have to be involved in making a decision like that.
  13. DavyDoo, where abouts in Mo.? I make a trip out there every year to visit my uncle in Bosworth, beautiful and nice and peaceful.
  14. You're not doing anything wrong. There is still venison in the freezer right?
