ManI feel your pain, trust me. First off during archery mule deer in September this year it was near last night and I had a smaller buck come in to my blind probably about 30 yards away. To stop him we had to grunt so he was looking right at us when I shot. At the shot he jumped the string and I heard the hit. The buck took off out of sight. We went to look for blood and nothing. Found my arrow and it was coated in blood and it wasnt a gut shot. We left him that night, came back the next day, couldnt find any blood, did a grid search and nothin. I think when he jumped the string I went in "no mans land" above the lungs and below the spine. I felt just sick, I hate that feeling but it is part of hunting. Then a couple weeks ago I thought I would make the bow my priority and leave the rifle behind. My uncle had been getting pics of a big bodied 4x4 that we figured would score in the low 140's. So I sat there a couple nights with plenty of smaller bucks comin in but I was holding out for the bigger guy. The one night he can past quick chasing a doe but never stopped for a shot. Then the last night of my hunt there he came. Right infront of me, 25 yards broadside looking the other way. I was so excited and my heart was going to blow out of my chest. I drew back and quickly let an arrow fly. I went from a high to a low as I saw my arrow hit high above the lungs. The buck took off and we backed out till morning. I knew exactly what I did, I was so excited I rushed the shot. Initially I thought I may have hit the top of the lungs but we came back the next morning, no blood. Found my arrow about 150 yards from where I hit him and after that, still no blood. Once again I hit him in that "no man's land." A few days after I shot him my uncle once again had trail cam pictures of him and he was lookin fine. A couple days ago my uncle sent me an email, my cousin had shot my buck with the rifle. He grossed 137 and they found the entry hole of my arrow about 4 inches from the top of his back. Talk about being on a low. 2010 hasnt been a great archery year for me hitting two bucks and not getting either. My confidence level isnt too great right now but I know ill bring it back up. Im still pretty new to archery and this year has definitely been a learning experience for myself. I cant wait to come back next year with a vengence! So ya I know how you feel man, the bucks I shot werent as big as yours but the feeling is still there. Best of luck to you in the future!

good luck man! that's always a great sight on a trail cam pic! I was getting a good lookin mulie on my trail cam but when we went to check it this week we found the place over run with cattle and no more pics of any mulies so new battle plan I guess

I know I used to think the same thing about Bear bows but I think they have stepped up their game in the last few years. A few weeks ago I shot a Bear Attack and can definitely say I was impressed. What I would suggest is go on the internet and check out reviews. I do this a lot before I buy anything. More importantly though I would say go to a local shop and shoot one. Like I said the Attack was nice and they just brought out their 2011 models and the Carnage looks pretty nice. I know from the reviews I read the Attack surprised a lot of people and they thought it was one of the better bows of 2010. Like ChrisSeb53 said, don't buy it because your buddy likes it. You gotta find something that fits you right and that you enjoy shooting. Dont want to have something that everytime you take it out you feel some regret. Many of us have different things we look for. Some guys love speed, other guys like a smooth draw and no vibration, etc. Although now a days most bows are doing this pretty good. So best of luck to ya!

Hey guys, here are some trail cam pics of the mulie buck I have been after with my bow. He isn't a monster by any means but I would definitely be happy with him as an archery kill. Ive sat in my blind a few times now but he hasnt showed. Just some of his smaller friends. These are some of the better pics ive got of him. I just got a new Bushnell Bone Collector Trophy cam and will post any good pics I get of him. Hopefully I'll have field pics after Monday mornin lol.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend my girlfriend and I went to the zoo as I wanted to get some pics. Only problem is, the zoo closed at 4 and we got there at 3:30 so I ran around and caught some quick pics. For all these pics I was shooting through fences so they might not be as clear as they could have been. I am hoping to go back when I have more time to take some nice shots and get more of the animals they have there. I would prefer to see all these guys in the wild lol. A gorgeous eagle Cougar loungin during a beautiful fall afternoon A nice sheep A closeup of a lioness Close up of the eagle A different sheep. Last time we were there we just finished looking at him and he rammed into this pole. My girlfriend playing around with some little goats I like how this guy uses his horn as a kickstand as he sleeps lol Pronghorn antelope grazing Fat little gopher. Couldn't believe how big they were. I couldn't help but think but big targets they would make for a .22 lol

I just shot the Bear Attack a few days ago and I was very impressed. It was really quiet, didnt feel barely any vibration, nice and smooth to draw back and it was fast. If I didnt know the Carnage was coming out I would probably pick up the Attack. Also it would be even better all set up. But Im going to see what the Carnage is like here first

Hey guys, not sure if this has been posted already or not but Bear is releasing their new bow October 4th. It's called....Carnage. I shot the Attack last night and was very impressed. I will wait to try the Carnage though as I heard it has a roller guard now and of course it is supposed to be faster, quieter, less vibration haha. So we shall see but I am interested. http://www.bearcarnagebow.com/

Hey guys, I just got an DSLR camera about 2 months ago and have been taking some shots ever since. It's been a lot of fun and have also gotten a bigger lens to reach out there a bit more for some of those skittish wildlife. Im going mule deer hunting in about 2 weeks and hoping I can get some good shots there. Hope you guys enjoy the pics. I'm still learning so don't cut me down too much haha.

Thanks PA, ya I was wrong, it's not hd video. I was thinking of getting an hd camcorder but from what I've read it is too much of a pain. You need a massive computer just to be able to make it run smoothly and editting it is pretty hard because there arent a lot of programs that are made for hd cams yet.
-
haha yep he shot behind him. he was pretty crushed. oh well redemption will be sweet. actually where we were hunting in the vid, I just heard that the farmer is having problems with yotes again since it is calving season. might have to go down again lol
-
prairie predator, actually it isnt hd. my bad. I want to get a camera here and will go with an hd. should take some nice footage for editting.
-
prairie predator, as far as the camera, it's my buddies. but I believe it is a samsung hd; not sure of the model number or what not. maddhunter, ya we have quite a bit of snow up here. actually a bit too much. in the vid you don't see it but most of the time we were wearing snow shoes cause it is pretty tough to get around. you can have some! haha

Hey guys, here is a vid of me and my buddies coyote hunt from last week. Please excuse the cinematography lol, shaky in some places and what not. But we hunt first and film second; we will work on this in future vids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emoG_OerQ-8

Ive got a Primos Lil Dog, Hot Dog and Kiyi. Personally I love the Lil Dog; it's a great howler. Easy to blow and sounds really good. The Hot Dog I am having some issues with. I cant consistantly blow it well. Right now I wouldnt use it in the field as the chances of me 'blowing' the call is too great. Prob just need some more practise. Now the Kiyi is pretty deadly too. I have noticed it can freeze up but I find if I blow from the other end that it loosens it up again and its good to go. Now the first days I ever tried coyote hunting I thought I did pretty well. First stand- Called in one that was about 500 yards away but I couldn't get him to come the rest of the way. Knowing what I do now I would have done the wounded pup sound and prob would have come in Second stand- Called in a smaller yote within about 50 yards and drilled him Next day Was calling by a friends farm yard and was calling but then saw a yote about 250-300 yards away in a clearing in the brush. I was looking at him thru the scope and noticed he was looking to the side. I popped my head up and there was a yote about 100 yards away. Now I had a chance for a double but because I rushed things I ended up with nothing haha. But it was still really cool to call in a double. Im going out next week for 4 days with a buddy so we shall see how we do. I hear this time of year it is their mating season and that howling generally will work better than distress sounds. But they still gotta eat as well. So after all that my point was that I think the Primos calls are very solid if a rookie can do pretty good after very little practise. Best of luck to ya!

Hey guys, well after much research and deliberation I finally made a decision on what to get for my coyote huntin gun. Ended up going with a Browning X Bolt Hunter in a 22-250. Havent had the chance to get out and shoot it yet but I love the feel of the rifle. Seems to fit me really well. So I picked up some boxes of shells and on the next set of days off I am going to go out with a buddy and see if we can let some lead fly. For now I just have on a cheaper bushnell scope that used to top my deer rifle. Not the best glass but it can hold a zero; so that will be the next thing to upgrade but ill let you guys know how it goes

haha yep i should get a good amount of sausage off this guy
-
definitely looks like it could be an entry hole to me

that is awesome guys! great lookin bucks. gotta love that mulie hunting. hopefully get drawn next year; if not I will always be out with the bow though haha. again congrats to you and your family there.

Well guys, this Sunday was the opening day of rifle whitetail up here in Sask, so I was able to get some time off work so I can come up to my favorite area but I only had 5 days to hunt this year. So for the first few days I had tried sitting in blinds, early morning drives(although not my favorite tactic), walking thru some nice areas but had not had any luck or really been tempted to pull the trigger. so yesterday morning we decided to go push some bush with some friends of ours and try and make something happen. this year has been unseasonably warm up here. no snow on the ground and warm weather so it hasnt been the best for hunting. but anyway, we headed to where we were going to meet the other guys and the one guy said that he saw a really nice 5x4 and had taken a couple shots at him but had missed. he saw the bush he went into so we decided to push it. so there were 4 guys walking thru the bush and myself and 2 other guys were positioned at different locations on the other side. so they started walking thru and I had some does and a couple smaller bucks bust out of the bush but nothing tempting. all of a sudden i heard crashing coming right at me(I was crouched along the edge of a bush beside a field). when i looked where the sound was coming from, here comes this big buck, nice and wide and tall, he was about 7 yards away when he smelt me or saw me and he whipped around and headed deeper into the bush. i couldnt shoot into the bush cause thats where the guys were walking from. so i had to hope he would just move farther down and come running out. about 15 seconds later he busted out and he was movin pretty good haha. i waited for him to clear one of my buddies and I took a shot, missed. the buck kept goin and jumped a fence. lined up again and shot, this time I thought I saw him flinch a bit. he kept on goin, took another shot, another miss as I saw a puff of dirt fly up and then just before he ran into another bush I took another "hail mary" shot as he was really out there but didnt touch him. so once the walkers came thru our side, of course everyone was wondering what I was shooting at and if I had hit it or not. I described the buck and we realized it was the buck that the one guy had shot at earlier that morning, the 5x4. Since I thought I had hit him, we decided to push the bush he went in. so once again me and two other guys set up at different places on the other side and the pushers started walking thru. I was along a fence line at the end of the bush where I would have anywhere from 0-350 yard shot and it was kinda brutal cause I was staring right into the sun. which made the eyes water a bit. So I waited and the first deer to come out was about a 140 class 5x5 but it wasnt the one I had shot at so I let him pass. Then later on 2 smaller bucks and a doe busted out but they were like 250 yards away running. I was just hoping the big guy wouldnt go the same way cause that would make for a real tough shot. So this whole time I could hear something moving around in a clump of willows about 50 yards away from me but it was too thick to see in there. All of a sudden I heard crashing and this rack comes out of the bush heading towards me, it was the buck I had shot at. I knew right away he was going to be close and I had like a split second to turn the power down on my scope. The buck jumped a barbwire fence to the side of me and ran past me. He was about 20-25 yards away quartering away from me and I had the chance for one shot before he was in cover again. I whipped around, thru up the gun and pulled the trigger. He hit the ground, kicked a couple times and it was done. I got him! haha. I walked up to him and he was bigger than I originally thought. Getting my my knees I thanked the Lord for this blessing he had given to me. Initially the way he was running I thought maybe I didnt hit him the first time there but one of the guys was in the bush and found a blood trail. The first time I hit him, I hit him on the bottom of the chest cutting open about a 4 inch hole. He would have died eventually but it might have taken a while. The finishing shot, I pinned him thru the shoulder. So the rest of the guys showed up, took some pics, shook some hands and ya, he is my biggest buck yet, gross scoring 162. My uncle is a taxidermist so he will have to do him up for me lol. But ya, thats my story. Oh and the guy who initially shot at him that morning had a surprise for me. he has actually gotten trail cam pictures of my buck in August of this year in velvet. so that was just icing on the cake lol. So that concludes my hunting season and now I have to wait until spring bear unless I get out to do some coyote hunting.
-
most of the bucks i have seen were either with does or trailing the scent of one. havent seen anything that has tempted me too much yet though.
-
I used them on my bear this spring. They are very deadly. He didn't go 50 yards; although I double lunged him so he would have been done either way. But the damage it did was incredible. I will definitely be using them when I go for mulies, in a few weeks here. I've heard too many good things and seen to many successful outcomes on hunting shows to not give them a shot(literally haha). I used to shoot muzzy's and no doubt they are tried and tested to be great as well. Personally I like the idea of an expandable shooting like a field tip but thats me.
