  1. First I would draw on the one I thought I had the better shot angle on and best chance of a quick kill. All else being equal its hard to say, I've never seen a non-typical on stand, but you can't beat the beauty of a big, symetrical, classic typical rack. When I find myself in this situation I'll let you know.
  2. Loggy Bayou makes a real nice hang-on stand, I think its called the monarch. It's the most comfortable stand I've ever used.If your comfortable on stand, you'll spend more time on stand and eventually be more successfull.
  3. Does anyone here own a bowtech general, or test shot one and what do you think about them?
  4. Man ooooooo man, that's some serious bone.
  5. Archery whitetails,spring turkey,muzzleloader deer,coyotes,bear
  6. I have a Loggy Bayou Monarch that I really like. Its the most comfortable hang-on I've tried, but I haven't pulled an all day sit in it yet.
  7. Here in New Hampshire they strip the bark off of young hemlock trees during the winter because there isn't much else to eat. This winter there has been as much as 3-4 feet of snow on the ground at any given time. There is no noutrition in the bark and thats why we lose alot of deer in winters like this.
  8. I shoot paper in the winter and 3D in the summer, thats enough.
  9. I'm curious what draw length your bows are set at, especially if you are between 5'8-5'10 as I am 5'9. I bought a brand new Trykon 2 years ago and am yet to shoot as well with it as my old bow, about 20 points less on average shooting 3spot vegas targets. It is strictly a hunting setup and I know I could squeeze a few more points if I used a target stabilizer, scoped sight and used a back tension release ect. But my reasons for target shooting is to get better with my HUNTING setup. Draw length on my old bow was 28.5" When I bought the new bow they watched me draw a 28.5 and a 29" bow and thought the 29" fit me better. I have read articles that said to measure your wingspan from middle finger to middle finger, and for a 71" wingspan like mine I should be shooting a bow with a 28" d.l. I realize this is just a rule of thumb, and there are many factors what D.L. is best for each person. My anchor point is with my bottom knuckle of my index finger just behind my jawbone right under my ear lobe. I am also curious as to what you use for an anchor point.

    yeah,what he said!
  11. I use an Impact " all terrain" pendulum sight and love it. It puts the arrow on the mark from 0-35 yds from an elevated position. It also locks down and is adjustable for ground shooting with a slider and yardage markers. Great for 3-d and great for hunting with just one pin. I had missed several deer in the past with a 3pin sight, pins were set @ 20,30,40yds, when the deer would walk by my tree at 0-5 yds I would shoot high and completely miss the deer. The kicker came when I went to Illinois for the first time and had the buck of my lifetime(so far) go by at less than 5 yds.Expirience told me to hold my 20 yd pin low,so I put it about a foot or so below the deers chest and just BARELY spined that buck. After getting down and putting an arrow through his lungs(at 20 yds) and finally killing him I realized that another half inch higher on that first shot and that deer keeps running....If I had a pendulum on that day, I'd put that pin on the sweet spot and hit sweet spot....alot less margin for error and as long as its inside 35yds you don't have to think about distance. Bass Pro shops had them on sale a little while ago for like $80.
  12. Save yourself some greenbacks and go with the loggy bayou.I hunted in Illinois and the guide used them, I was so impressed I had to buy one.For such a light stand it is very stable. Quiet and comfortable too.I'm buying another next year.
  13. The more people you can get together to search, the better chance you'll have of recovering that buck. Some states allow tracking dogs and actually give a list of people licensed to use them. Good luck.
  14. I'm pretty sure they are two different deer. That sticker on the dead deer would show on the picture of the live deer because it would be on the side of the rack that the light is hitting.
  15. I had the same expirience as you with the biscuit as you. Shot great when I first put it on. Got sick of refletching and switced to a fall away.
  16. You guys are hitting the proverbial nail on the head. It is a combiniation of buck fever and bad mechanics. I was aiming and drawing athe same time. The good thing is that I did not spook him and hopefully I'll get another crack at him. I have next week off and should be able to spend most nights in that stand. I didn't mention there was another buck that started coming in the orchard but when the big boy showed up he backed off. I'll let you guys know how things turn out next week, but that night alone was worth the price of licenses.
  17. The other night I was sitting in a new stand and had a huge bodied buck came into an apple tree. Needless to say I was pumped. After 15 minutes or so he finally came into the open and I couldn't get my bow drawn back so I tried again and failed a second time! When I finally got it drawn it was too late, no shot. This is the third time over the years this has happened to me and the second buck it has cost me. My bow pulls 62 pounds and never have aproblem any other time. I'm no weakling and shoot year round. So my question is ..Has this ever happend to you?
  18. Look at the difference in neck size compared to the younger buck...
  19. For those of you that use them, what advantage do they give you, and how much does it improve your shooting.

  21. That would make it pretty easy to stay on stand, wouldn't it..
  22. I think he scores somewhere around...Big enough
