  1. Haven't been out yet but have some great pics on the trail cam! I also haven't been on the forums in ages, and I look forward to checking in more often. Hope everyone's healthy, happy and enjoying the great outdoors! Laura
  2. Any recommendations on a disc cultivator for a 4-wheeler ATV which will be used in low-lying areas with lots of swamp grass? Thanks!
  3. Very nice post, Catrina. . . . thanks for sharing it! Laura
  4. Food - ice cream Color - red Wild animal - bear Domestic animal - have had cats and dogs and like both, especially when they don't cough up a fur ball or poop on the carpet

    WoooHooooo!

That's awesome! Congrats, and welcome to the forums!
  6. I bow hunted when I was pregnant but don't remember if I shot a gun or not. I did ride my Harley until my jacket wouldn't zip together anymore, and my OB was perfectly fine with that. In fact, he printed an extra ultrasound picture for me to put on my windshield! I'm a big believer in common sense and not living in a bubble. That doesn't mean throw caution to the wind and put yourself or your unborn child in a blatently unsafe position, it simply means be safe and enjoy being alive.
  7. First of all, whatever you decide is best for you, you'll simply love holding a bow in your hand this fall instead of camera equipment! You mention that you're concerned that once you're up in the stand you might have trouble pulling back more than 50#. How about climbing up right now and giving some practice shots from the stand at 50#? It's true that what you're able to comfortably manage on flat ground doesn't always hold true for off the ground, so I'd suggest trying that before buying your own bow. I'm with the other women on the weight thing - I pull 50# (my bow's max) and plan on moving up to a higher max on my next bow. That being said, 50# gets the kill, and as long as you practice and know how much your arrow will drop at various distances (so you know where to aim), you'll be fine. Good luck and enjoy! Laura
  8. We love to ice fish, too. It's one of our favorite winter activities - our kids, now 5 and 7, are real troopers out on the ice, and they are great at making sure the holes don't ice over! I think we're a few years away from any championships, though, but that sounds like a great time.
  9. Walking into a spider web always gets me, but geez, Andrea, hearing something being eaten alive sure beats that! I was spooked last year at the end of an evening hunt. Just as I decided that it was time to climb down from the tree stand, coyotes started howling - and it sounded as though they were within 50 yards. I made it down and back home in record time that night!
  10. Funny! They all might be young, but they sure tell it like it is!
  11. I couldn't remember if you had a little girl or boy. . . . sorry about that. . . . . Either way, it was definitely the very sweet and excited voice of a youngster eager to be a part of the hunting experience!
  12. Happy belated - your motorbike rides sound great! Laura
  13. Welcome to the world of Parker!!!! I've been shooting a Parker Challenger for ten years, but I saw your new bow the other day and just might have to treat myself. . . . . Besides, the day is coming when our 7-year-old son will be moving up to my "old" Parker. As a loving mother, I'll simply have to make the sacrafice, pass it on to him, and be forced to buy that Contender XP for me!
  14. Interesting read - and the problem sounds to be not in just one area. Last year we had a total of 16 little ones (in two separate groups), and this year we've only seen 5. Time to weed out the coyotes.
  15. What a buck! I also loved listening to your little girl's comments - she was quite proud to have spotted those does! Hunting is clearly in her blood - just like it is for our two kids! Junior hunting partners in the making. . . .
